Under the Light of the Moon
Scary, black, terrifying nighttime
Bitter, harsh, moaning winds
Silent, dark, stifling blackness
What bad names we give the night
Look and listen closely as the sun dies
Look and listen closely
To the starry skies of night
The once happy blue heavens
Now painted the colour of black
The stars swirl in a sky of darkness
Twinkling, brightening, fading in and out
And the luminescent pearl hung high in the sky
The moon in all its splendid radiance
Everything on earth shed with its silver light
Everything under the light of the moon
Everything seems silent, silent, silent
Listen closely, though, and hear
The soft tinkling of the tiny lights above
A sound sweeter and lighter than bells
And hear the fluid, graceful sound the moon makes
Carrying the strange, indescribable, haunting music
Hear the nocturnal melody of nighttime
Full of many mysterious
Full of memories lost
The gentle ssshhhh, the whisper of the wind
Carrying the harmony, singing softly
The harmonious symphony of the inky night
Is heard by a precious few who paused and listened
