Kei felt him before he even arrived. A stirring within him warned of danger, and the darkness penetrated his body in the way that lightning splits a tree trunk. It was sudden, violent. Two thuds from outside his door startled him into standing.
"Who's there!?" He called tentatively. Though he knew it could only be one person. The question is, what did he want.
With a deep sense of foreboding, he went to open the door. He swung it open abruptly, with his hand extended to deliver a blazing attack of holy light, when --
He stopped. Hajime and Ayake lay in a heap on his stoop, battered and bleeding.
They were holding each other shaking and crying and they cried out “Please don’t hurt us Kei, Please! We know we’re brats but don’t hurt us, Sasame has done your job of hurting us for you.” And Kei’s heart broke.
Kei kneeled down to them and pulled them to him, his heart was thumping, it was as if there was no trust left in them.
He carried them to his office and quickly called Goh and asked him to get his office ASAP even if it meant teleporting in.
"Well, I could have told you this would happen!" Hayate said bitterly once they'd all gathered. "We've ignored the situation for too long!"
Goh sighed as he held Ayake to him. "You know, I think Hayate may actually be right this time."
Hayate didn't take the bait. He pressed on, "We need to kill him. There's no other way."
Ayake screeched, "NO! You can't kill him! He... he just doesn't know what he's doing." Her lips trembled.
Goh felt an instant wave of hatred for Sasame. It was pitiful how he had Ayake wrapped around his little finger, and she was only twelve years old! He felt sickened at the way Sasame was abusing the girl, both physically and mentally. How could he claim that he loved her, then do such horrible things.
Hayate was right. Sasame needed to die. And, Goh decided, it would be by his own hand.
Hajime whimpered in pain as he cuddled up to Kei and said “Can’t we just turn Sasame to good?” and Kei sighed sadly as he looked helplessly to Goh, he wanted to kill Sasame as well, how could Sasame do something so disgusting? He had Hajime wrapped around his finger too and he was only seven!
Kei and Goh sat down with Ayake and Hajime, tears were in their eyes as they trailed the wounds that Leafe was yet to heal and worst how could they heal their emotional state?
“If we haven’t ignored Hajime and Ayake....maybe they wouldn’t have fallen into Sasame’s trap. This was our fault, we were so busy with other things, we were driving Hajime and Ayake into his trap.” Kei sobbed as he kissed Hajime’s head.
Even Hayate spared a moment to feel guilty. Kei was right. They had all been so wrapped in their own problems that they'd ignored the young pretear and knight.
"We need... to regroup. Think things through," Hayate said in a quiet voice.
Goh nodded miserably. His plan was stored in the back of his mind as Plan B, in case their dysfunctional team had even more trouble pulling together. But really, what could they do with an injured pretear and terribly strong foe?
"We need to distract Sasame long enough to destroy Takako. Think about it, it's not Sasame we want to kill. He's our friend, deep down. It's the Princess of Disaster who's pulling his marionette strings and making him turn against us." Kei appealed.
“We need Himeno!” Ayake and Hajime yelled and struggled out of the arms of Goh and Kei and run to Himeno and held onto her hands and looked up, with a hopeful look,
“We need you Himeno, we need you.” Hajime said and Himeno gasped seeing how battered the two kids were and she lifted them up and walked over to Kei and Goh.
“What happened?!” Himeno demanded when Sasame appeared with Takako behind them and she smirked, “If you love me Sasame, Kill Kei and Goh.”
“No, No Sasame!” Hajime and Ayake cried out as they scrambled back to Kei and Goh and cuddled up to them in fear.
Sasame grinned evilly and advanced towards the group. Goh, Kei and Hayate *censored*umed defensive stances, ushering the kids and Himeno behind them.
"Um, excuse me? Just what do you think you're doing?" Himeno demanded loudly. "Hayate, prêt with me!"
They preted.
"Now what, genius? Are you going to kill Sasame?" Himeno asked.
"Of course not. Put up your wind shield. Protect Ayake and the kids. We're taking out Takako." Hayate growled.
With a nod from Himeno, Kei and Goh sprung suddenly on Sasame. Hayate shot an enormous whirlwind at Takako while Sasame was pinned. Sasame struggled, flailing and shouting "Takako!"
“We’re doing this for you Sasame. Takako doesn’t know the real you. We do, the real Sasame wouldn’t try to kill his friend and hurt Hajime and Ayake...Ayake who he loves more than anything.” Kei and Goh said as they pinned down Sasame while Takako died and disappeared back to where she belonged.
Ayake and Hajime watched and then Hayate run to them and picked them up once he was sure that Takako was died. Sasame stared heartbroken and then he saw the kids, his heart broke even more when he saw Ayake staring at him in fear and then run to Goh.
He had done something he never wanted to do, break Ayake and Hajime’s trust, not only of him, of the Leafe Knights, it was clear they only trusted Goh and Kei.
Now they had to get the two through the recovery path to trusting them again but it would be a long path. Kei handed Sasame his Leafe piece and he placed it back on and turned back to the Knight of Sound.
“What have I done? I was so blinded by love that I didn’t notice that I was hurting the one girl that was supposed to be important to me.” Sasame cried as Ayake scrambled back from him as he walked over to talk to her.
“Get away from me.” She wailed and buried her face into Goh’s shoulder, sobbing hard as she had a flashback of Sasame spanking her with sonic arrows.
“I had to spank you, Takako ordered me to.” Sasame said trying to make excuses for his actions.
“You did what?!” Goh hissed and shot some fire at Sasame burning him, “How dare you?! You made the promise you would protect Ayake and Hajime if Kei and I couldn’t but you broke it. All because...because a stupid lady told you to!” tears were rolling down Goh’s face.
“And to think I loved you.” Muttered Kei bitterly and Goh looked at the knight of Light who was standing against a tree.
He had a sleeping Hajime in his arms against his shoulder like a baby and Sasame looked shocked.
“You loved...me?” He said slowly and felt his heart broken, he had been looking for someone to love but was so blinded that he didn’t realize that Kei was his true love.
He couldn’t believe he had thrown away everything he had and he burst into tears and wailed out “I’m sorry!” before teleporting away to his house. Kei however followed him and kneeled down where Sasame was crying out for forgiveness.
“Sasame, if you can prove to me and the others, you aren’t evil anymore, I’m willing to give you a chance to be my boyfriend.” Kei said softly pulling him close.
“I’m not evil, I don’t wanna hurt Ayake and Hajime and you guys anymore.” Sasame sobbed and Kei could see he was sincere about being good again and that he didn’t want to hurt anyone anymore.
Kei lifted his head to him and pushed his hair from his face, as he leaned in and kissed him. Sasame flinched a little because he wasn’t used to having anyone kiss him without slapping him afterwards.
“Relax, I won’t hurt you Sasame. It looks like it’s not only Ayake and Hajime who needs to learn to trust again.” Kei said as he helped Sasame up.
The next day Ayake walked into Sasame’s room with a bunny and a book. Kei was working on his laptop on a computer program and Sasame was lying on his bed.
“Sasame...if you aren’t too busy, can you read to me under Goh’s supervision?” Ayake asked and Goh was standing behind her.
Sasame looked up at Ayake and a slow smile spread across his lips, "If that is what you want Ayake."
He was looking really nervous, frightened he would hurt her without meaning too and he slowly got up and followed her to her bedroom where Goh sat down on a chair near the door while Sasame sat Ayake on his lap.
He began to read the Lion King 2 when suddenly he got a flashback of what Takako did and Ayake sensed it,
“Goh his having a flashback of what mean lady did to him.” She said and Goh walked over and placed a comforting hand on his back.
Sasame lashed out and hit Goh hard in the face before he realised what he had done, then he glanced at Ayake and he pushed her from his lap and ran out of the room.
Goh looked at Ayake and they both ran after Sasame and Goh pulled him to his room and Ayake sat on his lap and Goh sat on his other side.
“Hey Sasame I know you didn’t mean to hit me.” Goh said gently and Kei walked in and sat with them.
“It is hard to control actions when you are having a flashback.” Kei nodded and Sasame nodded as tears flow down.
Ayake looked up Sasame and said “You will be trusted again, I am sure, yeah right now we are warily but we sure you wanna be good.” And Sasame looked surprised.
Goh hugged them both and Ayake slightly blushed as she brushed against Goh’s chest and Sasame noticed, and slightly giggled because Ayake had a crush on Goh since she was eleven.
“Ayake has a crush on Goh.” Mannen, a bratty eleven year old said as he walked past the room and Ayake went deep red.
"I-I don't!" Ayake stammered. Her face was as scarlet as a sunset.
"Yes she does, yes she does!!" Yelled Mannen. "Ayake loves Goh! Ayake loves Goh!"
Ayake's bottom lip trembled. Her eyes filled with water. Sasame approached her swiftly and whispered in her ear, "Stand up for yourself." He stepped away and winked.
Ayake looked back at him, frightened.
Then she turned slowly to face Mannen.
"And how the hell would you know, jerk!?" She shouted at him.
Mannen looked rather taken aback. His ex
pression slowly changed from shock to anger. "Because I've seen you follow him! You take photos of him and stuff!" He retaliated.
Ayake was trembling now, but not from fright. From anger. She rose to her full height, and her eyes blazed.
"Oh, and that's nothing to what you do to Hayate?" Ayake screeched. It even looked as though her hair was on fire.
Hang on-it was!
Her eyes flashed red and her hair roared orange.
There was an ear-splitting scream and Mannen was almost killed and there was hardly a chance even if they took him to the special tree that gave the knights Leafe, he would be fully healed but Hayate took him anyway with some hope.
Ayake shrunk to her normal self. She was crying, tears flowing down her face. "W-w-what h-happened!" She sobbed. Kei was pressed against the wall, breathing hard.
"She-she has the inner element! The element of fire!" He breathed. Sasame and Goh were huddled in the corner.
Goh looked up at Kei. "Seriously." He yelled angrily. "What the hell!" And he stormed from the room.
“Goh must hate me now...” Ayake said softly as she sunk down, she never meant to get so angry and she ran from the room crying to her tree-house that the Leafe Knights had built for her 11th birthday, Goh doing most of the work.
"Goh doesn’t hate you, he is just shocked at your powers. He will be back." Sasame said looking from Kei to Ayake and walking over to hug her gently.
"Are you sure?" She asked quietly nearly sobbing.
"Of course." Kei said walking over and rubbing her back comfortingly.
She buried her face into Sasame’s shoulder sobbing slightly.
Things were calm until that night, Ayake was still in her tree house and Sasame and Kei were talking to her and reading to her when Goh walked in.
He grabbed her and gave her a terrible hard spank and he was very angry.
“This is for stealing my power.” He hissed still mad and Kei gasped and Sasame grabbed her.
“Goh you are mad but she did not steal your power. You know how much she admires you.” Sasame hissed hugging her close.
Goh grabbed her again and spanked her more but he was crying hard.
“I was the only one who could ...who could control fire, I was special....” Goh stopped, “I’m sorry! I’m really sorry!” Ayake looked confused at him and wondered if it had to do with his father who had abused him about not being special.
"Goh, you are special, you can do what I did, we both have it but that doesn’t mean you aren’t special" Ayake said gently grabbing Goh's hand.
"She is right Goh." Sasame said gently.
“So my father is wrong? He gave me a call tonight and...” Goh took a deep breath.
“You took me underneath your wing. That made you special and that’s why I got a crush on you.” Ayake admitted.
“So Mannen was right.” Goh asked and Ayake burst into tears and Goh held her closer.
"Yes he was right, the jerk." Ayake said hugging Goh to her.
"Kei maybe we should leave them be." Sasame said grabbing Kei's hand gently. Kei smiled at Sasame and went off to his room with Sasame leaving Goh alone with Ayake.
Goh leaned down and kissed Ayake who wrapped her arms around him, despite she was only 12 and Goh was almost 18.
“You good at kissing.” Ayake smiled softly and Goh carried her back to her room. Because she was still scared to sleep alone, he had been staying with her.
“Thanks.” Goh smiled at her and Ayake said “I have a question about something I saw yesterday and I’m worried about you.”
“What is it Kitten?” Goh said as he sat against the headband with her in his lap stroking her white hair wondering what she saw.
“I saw you tied up and your father whipping you. Are you hurt?” Ayake asked and Goh almost burst into tears, he hated the fact she saw him suffering by the hands of his father.
“Yes...” Goh said struggling to keep his tears from falling down and she wrapped her arms around his arms.
“Take your own advice, you told me that I can always cry no matter what no matter if it’s in front of others. You can take that advice.” Ayake spoke softly and she laid back into his arms when she heard Kei scream and Sasame gasping and running out of the house.
Kei walked in and he whimpered as he hid behind Ayake and Goh and both looked confused.
“He bashed me up, I don’t know why.” Kei whispered and he was bleeding.
“I’m not making up a excuse for him but he could have been having a flashback.” Ayake pointed out and cuddled Kei.
“A flashback....” Kei gasped and ran out, unfortunately Ayake started having a flashback and she burst into tears and buried her face into his arms.
Goh immediately knew she was having a flashback and he held her close and said “It’s okay Ayake, you are safe sweetheart, you are safe.”
He held her close and rocked her slowly as a single tear flow down as he cursed Sasame and Takako for making Ayake so scared and harming her so much even through Sasame wasn’t half to blame for.
Ayake however began to get feverish from crying so much and Goh felt her burning up and knew he had to calm down, she might set something on fire if he didn’t.
“Calm down Aya.” Goh said as he rubbed at her back and yelped as her hair almost exploded from fire and he took her to the bath and placed her down trying to get her heat down, she was going to make herself more sick if she didn’t.
Goh held her against him as he poured water over her body and she whimpered softly as she laid her head against his chest.
“It hurts Goh, It hurts.” Ayake whimpered as she tried to push herself more into him.
“What hurts?” Goh asked her gently as he took her to his bed and got in cuddling her against him, realizing how much she wanted his comfort.
“My tummy.” Ayake replied as she looked up at Goh, “It feels like its burning.”
“Mhmm, that’s the side effect of you discovering of your inner power. It will go away in a few days. I had it too when I first became a knight and discovered what power I control.” Goh said as he stroked her hair.
“I’m scared Goh. I am scared, what if I can’t get control of my power?” Ayake whimpered as she buried her face into his shoulder.
“You will darling you will.” Goh purred as he kissed her head and watched as she fall asleep. He knew in his heart it would take her a while to get over her emotional wounds but he knew she could. The End
