For Halloween 2021 I was pleasantly surprised by the layout of the storyline. It was a much better way to keep up with the story at your own pace, though it still felt a little lackluster. I do like how it builds on past lore, while still adding new elements as well. I just think it could be a little more engaging. For the most part it felt like sitting back and watching things unfold from a distance, which isn't necessarily bad, but I think it could involve the player a bit more.
TOT this year, as many grievances for the change that people had, did do a wonderful job with brining the community together to help each other with their TOT goals. I know that it is a bit harder for those who really don't use the chat feature since community communication was really what helped people meet goals unless they were steadily grinding. As a fairly quiet player I really had to put effort in to get the TOT prizes. I don't expect it to be easy, but it is a very social activity. I don't know what would help the more reserved players in that regard.
It\'s just one of those days.

Halloween:Love the story this year, and always great to have the xisters back
I actually enjoy this style of toting, but it definitely could be made easier and more accessible - for example, if the prize tiers for outgoing were made lower, say, tier 1: 10, tier 2: 25 or something similar - incoming i personally found fine this year at 25 and 50 But I think to aid in people giving/getting the right tricks or treats, we could turn our lights to trick or treat mode, and then the light could go off automatically once all incoming tots have been reached? People keeping their lights on after completing their incoming tots, just takes tots away from other users If the lights indicated treat/trick we would be more likely to send tots to less active users (or users that don't use the SB), I know people usually avoid them because they don't know whether they'll get tricks or treats
I also like wolfspirit25s idea about egg hunting - i quite often do not have a 48 hour 'quiet' period in which to hunt, so i end up doing 1 evening that i have free and then leaving the rest of the time This could easily be made into a shorter hunt time (maybe 8, 10, 12 hours?) that could be stopped/started whenever needed

Halloween 2021. Good! 4 out of 5 stars. The story was great! Loved how shops, The tree.. everything played a part. Loved the new items. Excepting.. There was no rainbow cloaks, Or ebbi stuff. Very super competitive. Maybe not announce the prize Till after the leader board closed. Leave it a suprize, let other users up On the board. 25 winners is better then 10. Thankyou for bringing the zombie Bites back to pets. And the goodie bags and new And old costumes were a Great hit!!
Love the new glow effect, In the hunts.
Lovely event.
In 38 colors, and a thousand black Gondras later... I rise over my Army as the Gondra Queen! \r\n \r\n\r\n

For Halloween 2021 I would LOVE to keep the glow for the egg hunt. It made it much more fun to do as there was something to look for rather than just hoping an item was in the right spot to be visible.
I definitely DONT want to keep the voting for the contests the same way it was this year though. Personally, I spent HOURS on my artwork, and watching it get so few votes, was VERY upsetting...

*Halloween 2021*
The good:
*Story- I loved the story, it expanded on existing lore beautifully and i adore all the new NPCs who are being introduced. The best thing for me regarding the story was the new lay out, it's amazing you can finally go back to other "chapters" and take things at your own pace. 👌👌 Also the extra artwork was amazing, it really helped bring the story to life. Well done
*Bone Flip game- I love the counter, it felt fair and balanced.
* Egg hunt-I didn't participate in the egg hunt but I heard that everyone loves the new glow. (The added glow was nearly enough to get my lazy butt into gear and try egg hunting but lo' laziness and procrastination won)
*Xisters- Something else I didn't participate in but I just wanted to say I loved the new skull items!
*Toting-Thank you for trying to balance out this way of Toting with the reduced milestones. It really helped to make them achievable for players who can't spend a lot of time online. I really enjoyed the new ToT items and being able see what items I still needed. The new milestone items really outdid themselves this year, especially the Auras!
*Contests- I was really happy to see that all the entries were released at the same time this year!
The bad:
* Story- I'm more than happy to sit back and read along in event but I would LOVE to see more player choice and interaction. Trust me, I fully understand the time pressure and hurdles that come with normal story lines/ events let alone if you were to make things more complex so I get it and it was still a nicely crafted story but I want to feel engaged in the stories and like I'm actually making a difference.
*Bone flip game- I'm not sure so please forgive me but do the skeletons have a use beyond being a toy? I didn't see them on the list of things to give to the xisters so sorry I missed it but I think having them as an item you can turn in would be cool.
*Xisters- wow, that leader board got super competitive! I saw a lot of people trying really, really hard, sinking TONS of money into trying to get onto the board let alone keep their position. That is just the nature of how leader boards work, you can't really change that however maybe a special prize when you reach a certain amount of favour with the xisters would do as some kind of compensation. The milestone would have to be pretty high but at least this way those who were fighting to get onto the board only to be beaten by the same handful of people who win every year get -something-. Maybe even a forum avatar that can be reused for all point shops/ leader boards?
* ToTing- I worry for less known users or those who don't use the SB missing out. I like that they can ToT with NPCs but (and I didn't experience this myself) the NPCs can run out of prizes?? and still set off the counter?? Did I understand that correctly? If that is correct that seems so unfair to me, I would understand if they had extra special items that were NPC exclusive but afaik they don't and I see no reason for this to be a thing. I think it would be cool if there's a very, very small chance the NPCs give you a choice of what item your given ~Still have a 50/50 chance of picking from the Trick OR the Treat prize pool ~only a small, random selection to pick from? I think it'll really help those who were just really unlucky, I don't think this is anything important or ground breaking but I thought the idea was worth putting down. I also wouldn't mind NPC exclusive ToT items *Contests- I feel like there should be bigger prizes?? Even with the exclusive item it feels a little lacking
Eeeeehhh
*THE LAIR- I understand it's an item sink but my gosh it is not worth it. I'm just going to hoard my items. It's so disheartening to see black smoke constantly and when you are lucky enough to get an item it's something that's been around for years, you have a million of and is next to worthless. I would love to see the chances of getting an item increased a little bit and the prize pool refreshed.
* Contests- like I said I really, really liked that all the entries were released at the same time. I love that. I want to see a mix of this and anonymous voting. I don't really see why we can't have both?
Conclusion- Thank you for this event <3 I love 90% of the changes that were made and overall had a good time :D

For Halloween
The good: I liked the story and the new undead creatu, the artwork is great and really like the new HA items.
Love the added glow to the egg hunt around the eggs and items. Please keep the glow and also thank you for the extended timers on the egg hunt.
Not so good: I really don’t like the lair. It feels like most of the time I am throwing my items away to either get nothing or duplicates of items have had for multiple years now so the investment isn’t worth the reward of trying in my eyes. I don’t mind old event items having another chance but maybe it would be nice to have different ways to get old vs new items.
ToTing: I basically agree with what everyone has said about the milestones being quite difficult and definitely without shoutbox advertising . I didn’t have the time to knock on people’s doors 100 times but if I had some way of controlling whether or not I was getting a trick or a treat I might have at least got half the rewards instead of 0. Yes you can ask users but this is not so easy in the quieter hours of res where the sb can barely move or there is a total of 15 users online.

Lots of good, closing out the story of the big evil we've had for multiple years now, added glow for the hunts around items and eggs, and method of submitting our contest entries was easier then past methods to me.
First the Lair, there where still lots of items I got that were not ones I could give to the lair. I'd like to see the list expand as from what I can tell the Lair is a type of 'item sink' that helps us get rid of unwanted items with a chance reward for other items.
Second and more important is how the voting was handled this year. I don't think public viewing of the voting is a good idea. I think I rather had not known then known. Very few voted as well, not even 2 whole pages worth of users voting.

Carnival: 1. The games have been very useful for me to gain Mahina eggs-I hatched my pet Mahina from an egg prize-as well as lots of Relking coins.
2. I would've liked a bit more from the circus than a curtain animation, like maybe a simple animation of the creatus performing, though I understand it would've taken more time to implement.
3. It was nice to fill up my scrapbook, and I have a feeling there'll be more pages to fill in the future.
Halloween 2021: 1. I like the milestone prizes for the trick-or-treat event. It was easier to complete than the Valentine's event, although I still had to advertise fairly often.
2. The new glow in the egg hunts have been very helpful-I had a perfect Jaaku hunt with no missed eggs or items. :D
3. I actually prefer the old way of telling stories. Sure, I had to click a bunch of stuff, but it felt more interactive and immersive.
4. I'm not feeling keen on the forum voting system, since everyone's vote has their username attached so there's a lot less anonymity.

Halloween 2021:( Reposted and Updated after event)
-Happy they brought back the sister’s leaderboard Still a shame, both shops have different points based on which sister you give to. Like ebilia sister has 100 points and jaaku sister has 80 points you can spend on item(s), but it shows 180 on board. Most of the items are similar, so not sure why this was done.
- Happy they brought back the ebilia bone flip. The game is easy to play and allows a few extra points on the leaderboard if you get the brooms.
- Enjoyed the NPC trick or treat option per 20 min. Some said that some npcs had no more candy that round, so they had to wait another 20 minutes to try again. Only had this happen once but it can stink if it happens often.) Also never saw the X-ray bag in Cain’s shop. Looked throughout the whole event and nothing! :(
- Big fan of the new undead. Happy to see we can get the curse of undead easier this year. Very much appreciated!!
- Happy the aura were easier to get this year than having to hope you get on the leaderboard. The leaderboard was very hard to even stay on so I’m glad I didn’t even try!
- Honestly surprised we stuck to the egg hunts again this year. I thought these egg hunt formate was gonna change this year. I like it this way but I can see how it might annoy or make people bored with clicking every time. I do like the idea of maybe allowing for a 10-12 hour for both egg hunts but we are allowed to pause it and come back. 48 hours is nice if you don’t sleep or don’t have a job, but most of the time I spend about 10 ish hours per egg hunt since I sleep and get headaches or back pain when I take a break.
EDIT!! That green circle around the items and eggs were so helpful!!! Please keep it for other egg hunts if we continue to do this formate.
EDIT 2!! Thank you for allowing some of us users to get bonus 24 hours! It was fun to play a bit more and to experience the green glow in the forest (only saw the glow a few hours in the cave before it was implemented).
- happy staff brought back costume items
- I enjoyed entering the Halloween contests (so happy it returned!) and felt rmailing my link to the right user was easy to do. I got a fast response time to let me know that it was seen and approved. Staff was also very helpful and answered all my questions in a timely manner! (Thank you crow and shark!!)
EDIT!! Although, the contest was fun to enter in, I feel the voting sound have not been shown. I understand how so people might feel discouraged to do contests in the future if their piece was not picked that much or not at all.
- love what was done with the apple tree twice. Poor tree! The new apples are cool and will totally be collected by me!
- I see something on the database that I will not spoil or comment on till I see it, but from what I am seeing, I am very happy! EDIT!!! I guess staff decided not to do this this year. Very sad. Was looking forward to this because you already had the items in the database. Xc
My biggest complaint is the new way of TOTing this year. I am happy it is easier to do than the valentines but it seems users are still having issues. I am pleased to see that it was moved from 30 minutes to 20 minutes but the event is still hard if you are new, unpopular, or if you don’t have a buddy system. I feel like we should go back to the old way of TOT where we went on people’s profiles and did it that way. That way we can choose if we want to be tricked or treated. This would also allow new items to be obtained instead of guessing if I will get the item I need. The daily reward with 10 Halloween items was nice but that could only help so much when the lair eats it up and gives nothing. Maybe do 30 items like it used to be with food.
I rate the event a 8/10. A few bumps but overall I’m so happy we got an event and contests! Thanks staff for all your help and work!

This is a complaint I've always had about the events on Res but I figure here is a good place to put it. Leaderboards are so stressful. So few people make it on them and people get bumped off at the last second constantly while they're asleep (what if it's 3am for them? It's crazy to be expected to be awake for that). Not to mention people turn in insane amounts of pets/items/eggs and then get bumped off and get exactly zilch, which is super demoralizing.
I'd honestly much prefer cooperative events on Res. No leaderboards, just if you contribute anything at all you get the prize. The more the community works together, the better the prizes (maybe you have to contribute something at each phase to get each prize? Idk). We don't work together? No one gets anything.

Piggybacking off of some of the leaderboard conversations I've skimmed - I think these type of 'competitions' create an economy in which the rich are still getting richer on Res and the others, even with intense grinding and staying online every minute of their free time, are still struggling to even try and make it on a leaderboard. I can usually say 'yup, I knew it' for the users who are consistently on a leaderboard; I always see the same names. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but also can be a very bad thing because the rich users still get to hoard hard to get items and drive a market that other users cannot afford.

Halloween 2021 I honestly haven't been around for most of the Halloween events and this was my first Xisters leaderboard competition as well.
The Good The story looked great and better than ones I've seen on the site prior. Though I'm sorry I never actually got around to reading it but I loved the additional artwork. It's definitely more work but something to make it more interactive either with the user or the whole community would be nice.
ToTing. I do remember having to go to people's profiles to do this but I do like this way too. Very much like the Valentines event which I was horribly late to and didn't get much but that's on me. I would like to see a feature where we are able to choose to only get tricks or only get treats because I ended up getting neither reward because it was so even. And it would allow people who don't care for one reward the option to not even get points towards it.
The glow effect is amazing! It's really helpful on the Reiflem map as it's very common for an item to be almost completely obscured.
Loved the addition of the apple tree into this event. Small things like this really make it feel like a big event for the whole site and not just shoved into its little corner on the side banner
Bone flip was nice as it was simple and easy. Especially if you're doing the egg hunts you probably don't have much mental energy for anything else.
I actually like knowing what the leaderboard prize is. While the mystery is nice, I'd hate to sink in all those items and money for it to be an item I wouldn't even want.
Frequent updates, reminders and communication! Thank you so much for this. I'd rather see too many updates that address everything that needs to be addressed than too few and there are more questions than answers.
The Bad The lair was pretty aggravating honestly. Especially if you don't have stuff from years prior. It felt like you got too few items from the dailies. Most of the time it wouldn't even give you an item for what you got. And it when it finally gave me an item it was usually something completely useless. With the daily items, the ToT outgoing items, and the egg hunts it still wasn't enough to actually get you much from the lair. Not to mention there were a ton of items I thought it should be able to take and it, didn't leaving me with tons of duplicates of useless items. If you don't change the rate at which it spits out items at least consider adding the counter we have with the shrines so I can visually see my progress and know where I'm at.
As others have stated having the community vote on entries should be done anonymously. It just makes people feel bad when they don't get votes. I'd recommend using a poll/survery website for future contests and it keeps everything anonymous, clean and easy to fill out. Honestly because I had to type out my vote I couldn't find the will to actually do it and didn't vote at all. Which I know that's bad of me but I also wasn't the only one. If all I had to do was click a box that said yes I love #3 then I probably would've voted.
Minor Grievances/Suggestions Since the counter for everything else this event was 20 min it was weird the bone flip was 30. I would have preferred it being 20 min like all the others.
Options to pause egg hunts after so many hours would be amazing. Say you get 24 hrs and in 4 6hr time chunks. Once the first 6hr block ends you have to reactivate to continue but can do so whenever you want to. While 48 hrs seems good it's hindered by time sleeping, eating, working if you have to and whatever else. So it's not a real full 48 hours unless you deprive yourself of sleep and anything else for the next few days. Which we don't want to encourage.
Tier rewards for the leaderboard would be great. Say 1-100 gets so-and-so prize. Then 1-50 gets that prize and an additional prize. Then lastly 1-20 get the previous rewards and the grand prize. That way everyone that makes an effort gets something. It's not fair #21 on the board doesn't even get an consolation prize for everything they sunk into it.
Let site themes be a setting option or a consumable item. I love dark themes, they are much easier on my eyes. I loved the Halloween one and would keep it on pretty much the whole year. Plus it would make a nifty tier reward for the leaderboard.
I play Res on my phone and iPad mostly. Which makes hitting that event button and NOT the logout button a little tricky sometimes. Please consider moving the log out button to the bottom under the active users. I have this problem for every event that has a side bar banner.
Weird grievance but it's an absolute travesty that there are only 3 color options for the Ebilia bone wings. They're one of my favorite items and I'd love to see more in maybe Trance, Achro or even Silver. Something so it's a bit more even with the Jaaku items.
Again another weird grievance but where my snow Jaaku and Ebilia?
8/10 would play again.

I love love love this site, the art and content is so beautiful and creative. The community is so uplifting. I've been on here for years and the only thing I think is lacking is games. Even just simple games like centipede or something. I understand that making games takes different skills or programs, but I think it would add so much more dimension to Res! Hopefully you can find a way eventually :] Also I would love an Aukira plushie XD

For the Harvest Fest this year im very very strongly appreciative of the ability to gain event items by simply playing the game, and not just hawking shops this time around. While these event items weren't enough to net a leaderboard spot (and honestly shouldn't be), they kept me interested enough to at least get the milestone prizes. I like the use of explore to distribute items, and while I do appreciate hunger/health not going down, I would have liked to have kept stocking my foodpen with bulk food. I couldn't buy bulk food because 2 out of the three shops I normally use were used as event shops.
I like how event items are handled right now and would hate to see them put into a shop for convenience unless there was a lore reason, but blocking off an entire shop from bulk purchases was a little bit troublesome.
Otherwise, I liked baking pies, I like the new autumn items, and i like the return of the corn husk dolls and Aukira tail feathers. Great to see those items again!

Harvest Fest & Pie Baking: I loved how you could find items in explore, always love when items are put into explore to find for certain events. For pie baking I think it would be neat if the pies you bake, actually, produced a pie of each flavor or for that specific pie you're baking. Then you could hand that whole pie over if you're wanting to hand it over for leaderboard, and if not it would be neat to be able to keep the pies as a food item, or for collection purposes.
Or atleast I think it would be neat to have something on hand that you 'baked' yourself after you were done baking the pie's themselves. x'D
Edit (11-29-21): I also liked the milestone awards for the leaderboard making sure everyone gets something from certain milestones while still having a main prize for actually placing on the leaderboard. Something like this I'd love to see for the Halloween Leaderboard. :)

@Stargazer There are a couple of pie items you can actually make and feed your pets! The event uses the Green Apple Pie and there's another apple pie recipe hidden around :3c
I loved LOVED how the milestones were handled for this event. I think I've gushed about this to Crowflux and Snow but holy hot damn getting prizes without having to stay ON the leaderboard? EXCELLENT. This is the first time I've participated in a November event in several years and I'm very very glad I did! Good job all around!

I would love to get the pies I baked as food, but that's all I could say. This is my first baking pie event and I enjoyed it, we were getting milestone rewards which was awesome for someone like me, who can't compete in the leaderboard ^~^

The pie baking event was funny and exciting! I really enjoyed the milestones (especially the pie scarf). The leaderboard was intense and rewarding when it finally ended. I have no idea how people would make it to top 10 and up without spending a good amount of hours bulk buying items/etc. i enjoyed the 1 item limit since it would only be fair. The catcha images were a pain in the butt though! Some told me I was wrong even when I know I clicked everything right or some loading parts would slow down the buying process (making me loss the item to another user). All in all, it was a fun event if you had the time and resources to do so! 9/10!

Harvest festival 2021:
I liked the Pie baking and items being obtainable in multiple ways not just buying from the shops. Pets not getting hungry during Explore was great.
I love collecting items for my Gallery so I really love having old items I didn't have (Aukira Tail Feather, some Corn husk dolls) make a comeback.
And of course, new items are always great.
Loved the event.

@Juke I knew about the apple pies I was more meaning the pies there is no art for and how neat it would be to see art for all the recipes/different pies. c:
