"And Twilight, it isn't as simple a concern as whether or not a user will spam the shoutbox. We actually care about our users and we have encountered some instances where very unexpected emotional reactions with potentially life-changing outcomes were given. It's incredibly unfair of you to make the assumption that this is all about some trivial spam on the shoutbox. "

Also taken from one of Broken's posts.

It's not about spam. o3o;;

The book's opening line, "Who is John Galt?", becomes an ex

(i just cut off the unimportant stuff)

It's an ex

Yes, time is a huge issue with giving feedback, for writing too.

As another answer to the colorless staff thing, writer trainees do eventually get color, not always at the same time and not always after a certain amount of time. Before we give a user color we need to be sure they are working consistently, learning as they go, and are active on the site. They will receive their color in the middle of training when these things become abundantly clear. Otherwise, it is possible that someone would have color for 2 weeks then we would end up saying "nope, not cut out for staff" (it does happen that someone looks promising with some coaching but things just don't work out) then suddenly *poof* no color and it seems extremely fast to anyone looking in from the outside. We want our trainees to have at least basic proof that they are of the right mindset once they start training to be staff members. Only then do they get their color. I don't know about art, that's not my department. Mods and support get color ASAP only because their entire job relies on the tools the color lets them access. Writers, while we do have SOME stuff we can use on site, do not need that during the training phase. We can do our jobs 100% with a tiny bit of help from full writers without any tool on site.

So basically writer training is seeing if they are cut out for writer, and once they pass a certain point they are given color, if they are right for writer?
Ah that makes more sense, thank you wolfspi for explaining that. :)

Yes, it doesn't mean they're a full writer, they can still fail training. So purple people MAY still be trainees :p Having color just indicates that they're active, have the right attitude, and are willing to learn basically (short version).

How will we know when they are full writer?

This is a completely opinionated post aha so once again, doesn't reflect the views of any other staff members;

but I personally don't love when people ask me if I'm still a trainee, because I feel that that's my business.

I mean, don't get me wrong, someone might answer your question and that's fine and all, but I think the process of becoming staff is sort of business between an employee and his or her boss.

I have actually updated those threads before. If someone doesn't have color, they don't go on there as far as I know. For the most recent staff, you should just visit the staff page: tle="" target="_blank">http://www.rescreatu.com/staff.php

Another q, the two forum threads posted are not in sync, and were updated the same day. How is this possible?

Anyone with the ability to edit forum posts will update the lists. The updating is done manually, and we're human, it happens. Those forum threads were for the purpose of the users' convenience until the site staff page was fixed, which thankfully Cless has finally done. That page is updated automatically the second staff level is removed or given to any user in any department of staff so yes, it should be referred to instead of the forum posts now.

My bad D:

But yes we are human. It would be cool if we were super perfect robots who were right and perfect every time, but we are not.

just going to post this again

I would like to see updates on what we can and can not do
a couple of examples:

We cant have music on our profiles.
Oh wait a few staff do
"so we can have music  on your profiles now?"
"yeah"
.... :O since when?
^ back when it was done through coding and not soundcloud ^o^" hope that makes sense^

"Mutants cant get the OoAK effect"
oh wait theres an mutant with an awesome  OoAK effect

apparently we can't talk about "chest bits" anymore, im sure this lead to a few warnings for users who weren't there when it was announced (in the SB)

~
 ;-;
hope that you figure out a way to keep every one up todate so people dont have to find these things by word of mouth... Word of type

I'm not sure what you mean about the music on profiles part. Can you clarify on that a bit?

And while I get what you're saying about updates, it's not going to be feasible to post an update every time it's necessary to adjust rules for the chat. I mean just imagine for a minute lol. Updates are on our front page, the first thing you see when you log in.

Update: Users will no longer be allowed to talk about titties in the shoutbox.

Can you see how this would look to a parent or to an underage user or out of context to anyone not familiar with the shoutbox and what goes on there? Sometimes it is just necessary to adjust the rules a bit, and the best way to let you know is in the chat as it happens. It's not like our mods are super strict or anything, they just say "hey so and so please don't do such and such anymore because reasons" or something along those lines.

I really wish staff had the ability to add addendum to the chat rules page, but we don't. Even if we did, and we added stuff like this, it would eventually get so ridiculously humongous to read and be so overwhelming that hardly anyone would end up reading any of it.

It is really difficult to find a good balance that won't end up with some imperfect instances like this, unless we take away some expressive freedom and just make blanket rules pertaining to certain subjects like other sites similar to ours have done. No discussion of any body parts, underclothing of those parts, no exceptions, for example. But we don't want to be so restrictive like that, so sometimes it's just necessary to make adjustments as we go, and the best way to make you aware of those adjustments is in the chat itself. If it makes you feel bad that a mod let you know, don't. No one remembers after a few seconds, it's over and done with and we're on to the next crazy topic.

(and I think that mutants can get an OAK effect? if that's the pet you request it be put on? I'm not positive tho, xee would be the one to ask)
