I think we need some sort of button to turn off the shoutbox. I think users should decide if they want it on or off, then when if a user is frustated by another user on the shoutbox, they can turn the shout box off.
I like the idea. I'd use it. I'm not a shoutboxer and it gets a little annoying to see everyone bawling over there all the time. If I want to lurk, I'll use the Chatzone link.

I would love that! Right now I have Adblock, so the shoutbox for me doesn't exist because I adblocked it, and it's been blocked for like a year now. But it would be so nice to have a button where I could just toggle it on and off, since it's really hard to un-block it with adblock it without getting rid of everything else you've adblocked. So yeah...I totally agree.
