You didn't waste my time, I'm just stating an opinion based on what I have observed recently.
It's simple: to find out how much you are paying, multiply the share value of the stock you are buying by the number of shares you are buying. For example, right now, ARM is at 23 per share. 50,000 shares x 23 = 1,150,000 TU.
In order to make money playing the stock market, you only need to remember one rule: Buy low, sell high. You can never lose TU as long as you never sell your shares for lower than you purchased them. ;)
Right after posting this, the noon stock reset happened: Now ARM is worth 33 per share. So if you sold it, you would sell for 33 x 50,000 = 1,650,000. That's a 500K profit in this case. (But I don't recommend selling anything with a share value of less than 300 because most stocks will go that high and much higher!)
Of course there is a limit of 50K shares bought or sold per day - I'm just using these numbers as examples.
