If this has been suggested before, I'm sorry. I think this would be much more helpful and useful. Why not have an autobuy for Pet Auctions? You could put an autobuy price, and of course, optional. But I get really annoyed when I can autobuy all the items I want, but I can't do it for a pet? It's not a BIG suggestion, and just a little idea of mine.

Wouldn't that kind of undermine Ranches though? Really, that's almost the whole appeal of being a Rancher - having purchases be automatic, thus meaning you get more sales more quickly.
I mean, yah, we've all had those moments where we wanted a pet from an auction really badly. It's all right. It happens. Heck, I've lost so many pets I bid on, it's ridiculous. But in almost every case it's my fault for not putting in the effort to keep better track of them. And when I did keep track up until the very end and still lost? Well. I'm sure at least the winner was pretty proud of that victory, eh? That's part of the fun. I know I'm always really proud of the valuable pets I manage to win.
Now, I'll agree that prices in auctions are often pretty sad. But I doubt tacking an autobuy option on will help that. People most likely underprice in auctions because they don't understand the value of things.
Really, if someone's putting an albino up for auction with a base price of a thousand tu, do you think they're gonna try for much more with their autobuy price? In this case such a function would really, really hurt the tu intake of that person. At least with a bidding system you might get that one bidder who bumps up the price by adding a couple zeros, thus far exceeding the seller's expectations.
It is unfortunate that bidders tend to go looking for these sorts of deals, to take advantage of the seller's cluelessness. But that's just because it happens all the time. I really don't feel like undermining Ranches by making the two function basically the same way is the best fix for it.
Surely there could be something else - perhaps a feature that shows people what some of the lowest Ranch prices are before they set up an auction? Or maybe average prices? It wouldn't be much different from how Merchant shops work, with their whole price suggestion thing.
With something like this, maybe the prices of Ranches and auctions would be a little closer together, with auctions still probably being generally lower. The main difference would be patience - which, as I understand it, is something Res usually values, right? So if you want a somewhat lower price, you'd go with auctions. If you want something instant and have plenty of tu in your pocket, go with Ranches.
I feel like the solution should allow both to retain their functions while hopefully striking a little more balance between the two.

Yoshi: I understand what your saying completely. But having the autobuy on item auctions is probably doing the exact same thing to the merchants. D: That's why I thought having it on both would just make it a bit easier.
Thanks for the support everyone!

Don't support. In fact, I think the autobuy option for the item auctions should be removed. The whole point of a shop is to have an a set price; the point of an auction is to give everyone a fair chance to participate (or a fair chance to earn more TU). If someone's trying/willing to compete, and someone comes along and AB's the item/pet, it can just be irritating and frustrating.
In the other regard, what if you set an AB, but the auction had the potential to go well above that TU price? Some of us aren't the greatest at pricing, and though, yes, we could look up other auctions and/or the shops for reference, and auctions kind of just save us the trouble of that. *shrug*
All in all, I agree completely with Yoshi.

If some people don't like it, they don't have to use it. It would benefit the site, and I really don't see how it could be a big problem.

Well it's not the same as a pet or an item where you can just ignore that it even exists. x3 This is something that would affect the economy. And the economy affects everyone, whether they use certain features or not. Thus my point about how it might undermine Ranches. Really, why would anyone buy from us Ranchers if they could just go to the auctions and find valuable pets for almost no tu and buy them instantly without any effort or patience?
I really do feel that if anything is to be done to the auctions, it should be in the effort of improving pet sales for everyone. I agree wholeheartedly that there are definitely changes that could be made for pet auctions, but I don't feel like this is the answer.

How would it undermine the sales of ranchers when most of the time natties are put up for 100k? Like I said before, it would be optional, so not everyone would use it. Aaand, most of the time, I can't fine an auction with a coloured pet, for a reasonable price. If there was an autobuy, people could just buy it if they wanted too. Like Jenny said, it wouldn't have the auctions all congested as they seem to be now. It is the owner's decision though to decide what price the autobuy should be. Most of the time, people just want to get rid of their pets if they don't want to. I just dump pets in the auctions when I want to get rid of them. [It also gives a bit more then just dumping them into the forest.]
But, I can't see it changing harming the economy. :[

It's not the naturals I'm worried about. Seriously, are we even talking about the same pet auctions here?
See look at tle="" href="http://www.rescreatu.com/petauction/auction/104382/">this. And tle="" href="http://www.rescreatu.com/petauction/auction/104378/">this. And tle="" href="http://www.rescreatu.com/petauction/auction/104376/">this. And tle="" href="http://www.rescreatu.com/petauction/auction/104372/">this and tle="" href="http://www.rescreatu.com/petauction/auction/104366/">this and tle="" href="http://www.rescreatu.com/petauction/auction/104363/">this.
All you have to do to find auctions with colored pets for really absurdly low prices is look through a few pages. I found all of those in the first six.
And I'm sure there are even more that started out like that, but the bids brought it up enough not to look quite so pathetic. See that albino Uilus? It started out at one million. A single million for an albino seasonal. At least with the bids it's increased a couple.
This is exactly what I'm talking about. Sure, the majority of auctions you see are overpriced naturals and sepias, but among those is an unhealthy number of auctions whose owners obviously don't know the value of the pets they're selling. Tack on autobuy and suddenly all those cheap colored pets you would have had to wait around for are instant buys. These ill-informed auctioners most likely get even less money than they do now, and the fact that they're instant makes them just as simple as Ranches - except that auctions are usually cheaper. So yes, they would undermine Ranches.

No support for reasons stated very well by Yoshi. I, being a rancher, would not like this at all. If you really want the pet that bad, keep an eye on the auction.
Well now. I should... Probably put something intelligent here. At some point. Eventually. ... ... Screw it. HYE. ♥
