I support this. Although instead of clearing pets, I think they could just auto rename the pet to pet1905810924 or something so the name becomes available. That way if a player returns, they still have their favorite creatu, but since they did not maintain their account like other players do, they'll have to find new names. And pets with custom skins on them should never get their name erased imo. Someone paid IRL money to claim that pet, it should not get taken from them, it's now owned by them on-site whether they return or not.

Hard no on the putting pets in the forest, as this makes rarity obsolete. If anyone can get access to fancy pets via an account wipe, they aren't special anymore. They're supposed to be difficult to obtain and require a lot of dedication, that's what makes them precious!

The way the clearings work now is that the pets are manually moved to a showroom on another account then deleted. This automation just cuts out the middleman and doesn't change the end result. Leaving the pets on the account leaves an artificially inflated count of the species/colors for users that probably aren't coming back (which for the rarer pets provides a false sense of availability when it isn't really there). For banned accounts, they're definitely not getting the pets back so that's an easy call. For inactive accounts, if you're gone for that long I highly doubt you remember what you had anyway so it probably wouldn't matter too much.

I'm sure OAKs are a unique situation but even those, given the current system, would simply be deleted in a clearing under the right circumstances. If they lose the name, that's because they're either banned (in which case they aren't getting it back anyway) or have lost all interest in the site for a very very long time. I'm sure staff could work with someone directly to put the OAK on another pet of the same species/color as the original if it came down to that, but the name shouldn't be automatically saved forever just because the user got an OAK and then decided to leave forever.

full support, can't see a single reason as to why this wasnt always the case honestly, clearings just cause a lot of unnecessary stress and anomosity amongst users

Definitely support this change!
Even after a very long hiatus, I still vividly remember filling a notebook with names I wanted to find and staying up all night trying to get them. Probably not the best for anyone

Agreed. Also like the idea of those pets going to the forest. People would have a lot better chances with Kir or just have fun/cool creatu to add to their family. I personally like collecting creatu species/colors, & some are obvi expensive (but goes back to the making money thing with quests being an issue...too expensive/out of stock/etc.)

I was surprised to learn this is still being manually done.  Definite support!

In addition to all the advantages already mentioned - this also frees up staff time to work on other things that are surely more interesting for them.

(I also support the suggestions of automating item clean-up as well.)

Mostly Support.

Except for the "Inactive" accounts. I was "inactive" for almost 8 years due to life, no computer, having a kid, moving, personal reasons, forgetfulness, and probably more reasons. I am back now, and extremely happy my account was still here.

I support clearing the Banned Accounts because I don't see any reason for them being on the site if they are banned. So totally support that part, get rid of those.

Calico, inactive accounts are already cleared after a certain amount of time. Some of them are missed, yes, but they're eligible. This wouldn't be changing anything from how it already works except that it's automated.
