THIS IS NOT A THREAD ABOUT CREATU BREEDING
(Or at least, not the type I know you are all thinking of)
So hear me out before you go flaming this thread and locking it.
In real life, some animals do reproduce year round.
However, there there are also those that reproduce only during a set time of year, their breeding season(s).
Sometimes breeding seasons are annual, sometimes they can happen two or more times each year, sometimes only once every couple of years.
So why not do this for some creatu, to determine what time of year you find their eggs? Just to you know, spice things up a little.
There could be creatu that lay eggs all year round, like usual, but others that will only lay eggs during their breeding season, and so you can only find that creatu's eggs during their breeding season. Different species could prefer different times of year for breeding, in summer, autumn, winter, or spring. And there could be others that like two seasons to breed in. The breeding seasons of some creatu could bee very long and others very short.
And this could raise the value of some creatu eggs, creating an easy way for merchants to make tu.
Lets do some examples!
Leverenes are rather like rabbits, yeah? Maybe they could breed like rabbits. The breeding season for most rabbits lasts 9 months, from February to October, taking a break during winter. So something similar could be done for the leverene, a long breeding season, but people could make money from their eggs during winter.
An intes' egg shell is rather thin and does not give much protection from the cold. therefor they may only lay their eggs in the middle of summer, around may, june and july, so that the embryo's inside the eggs stay nice and warm. The eggs can only be found for these few months and then users can sell them for a profit during the rest of the year.
A female valabex spends all of summer fattening herself up to put a heap of energy into laying eggs in the winter. This long frozen period keeps the valabex eggs in stasis, and only when the sun shines on them and warms the shell do they know that it is time to hatch in the spring time when they have the best chances of surviving. Therefore you can only find Valabex eggs in the winter months, and they will be worth more for the rest of the year.
During the spring months, the chimby gets very busy with creating as many young as possible. Then over summer they take a break in order to build back up thier condition. Then they have quick go at making a few more during autumn before winter sets in. This two time a year breeding pattern is a safty net of sorts incase one of the breeding seasons in unsucessfull due to enviromental circumstances. So, people can find chimby eggs during the months of spring and autumn, while their value goes up during winter and summer.
I know that this is probabaly too complicated to implement, and may get some users, especially new ones, confused. But it could also make finding and selling some creatu eggs a bit more interesting, as well as bringing a feel of realism to the game play. And it's just a fun ideai thought I'd share.
Note that when I am talking about months ad seasons here, I am going off the nothern hemisphere correlation, which appears to be the same as the rescratu season month correlation, ie, christmas is in winter ect.
So do not flame or lock this thread because you think it is about making two creatu breed with each other, it is not, it is about when creatu lay their eggs.
Additional suggestions/system changes are welcome.
