Hey everyone!
Soooo
As you may have noticed, things are changin' 'round 'ere. /puts on cowboy hat

But what about what we want? Eh? What about the userbase and our opinions, bro?
Well here is where we can voice our opinions on what we would like to CHANGE and what we would like to stay the SAME.

CHANGE

  1. CS egg prices for non-USD users. x1
  2. Trash Isthmus Multi-Item-Dump x3
  3. Remove the CSS button from profiles for regular users, but not staff. x4

STAY THE SAME

  • Custom profiles without limitations or being forced to use default layout x6

This will be regularly updated with both features under each list and also the votes for each feature.
You may post as many times as you like.

I really liked when the people who didnt pay real money could get CS eggs from the CS shop with Credits. ): The credits cost a lot of TU these days too, but at least it was possible back then. I wish we could get that back. o wo"

Edit: So wait, in a sense... Change it to.. be the same like it used to be? :T

I agree with Russ. I paid for my profile, how is it fair that I can't have it?

Well now. I should... Probably put something intelligent here. At some point. Eventually.

Change: A new way to dump items into the Trash Isthmus :u I think a lot more people would actually use it if it was easier to throw things out.

Russ's point all the way. 'Nother point for that.

I'm also rather not... happy about the removing custom HTML button that was recently installed. People sometimes use HTML to hide what they consider personal information from other users, such as the Tu, Credits, CP they have, their Gender, their join date, their Showroom Links, or the pets they have on hand. I've seen people who have hidden or have wanted to hide all these things.

When the name change was agreed on that we shouldn't out the users who changed their names by making a "previously username" on their profile, some changed their names and wanted a completely new social restart without anything previous dragging them down, but also without really having to lie. But they don't want people snooping around and finding out they're an old user and trying to figure out who they were. If the user has an identifiable pet, they would hide it but still keep it in their own personal company

But now with any user being able to remove whatever from their profile, it defeats the point and maybe makes things more "open" than users would like.

The button was a good idea for staff when users would cover up information they need to access, but for a common user it should go.

I completely and totally agree with Loki's post.
I think such a button as the new Remove CSS button should be for staff only, not any ol' regular Rescreatian. Profiles were perfectly fine the way they've always been.

I absolutely agree that profile coding shouldn't be changed.
As someone who does do coding for myself and others, I have put hours into creating codes. Also, like many other users, I have spent millions of tu buying codes from other people. For all of that to go away, well, it really does not seem fair. Especially since it does not seem that there has been any solid reasoning why it is being taken away (I think if this change is going to happen, we at least deserve a good explanation)

I do agree that the CSS button would be handy for staff though, since coding can on occasion get in the way of staff tools.

I would also love to see multi-dump for the Trash Isthmus. Personally, I would be a lot more generous with the Trash Isthmus, if it were not for the fact that it takes forever to dump items one by one.

Okay guys, everyone take a breath and listen a minute.

There are a LOT of misconceptions about what is being changed in profile code, and why.

The only things that will be filtered out are <html>, <head>, and <body>. Those 3 tags. Not CSS that defines elements of the body, just the HTML tag.

It is bad coding practice to use those tags within a page that already contains those tags. It is also completely and totally unnecessary - code will work JUST FINE without them. You may have to adjust your code to conform to universal standards, but that is a good thing, not a bad thing. You'll learn how to do it right. In addition to being bad coding practice, it causes problems for the browser when parsing the page.

As for the button that removes custom CSS - how many of you guys have tried it? It doesn't remove the entirety of the code. It only makes it possible to more easily navigate and view the page. If you're concerned about this because you are hiding information normally displayed on your profile, then oh well, too bad. If Patrick wanted you to be able to hide that info, he'd make it so you could. We don't make changes to site features to accommodate the users who want to use those features in a way in which they were not intended. This is a convenience item, and will be found useful by many users for many reasons. A lot of you use profile coding that violates W3C standards, which is absolutely fine, no one expects you to know all the standards. But in doing that, you are leaving people with disabilities at a great disadvantage. By having the ability to use that little gear icon, they are now able to remove code that might hinder the ability to see the page. Everyone should be happy - you get to enjoy your pretty profile, they get to enjoy a functional site. If you want to suggest that certain profile information visible to everyone be changed so that it is only visible to staff, then that would be the suggestion to make, right at the crux of the matter.

Hopefully this has cleared up some confusion about profiles!

Would be great if this information had been in some kind of update explaining the changes and why they were changing, instead! <3

Since the only thing we have to go on is adding the =test1 to the end of a profile URL which at the moment is showing that it is the words "body" "head" and "Html" that are filtered, not the tags. In addition that test URL shows that the default sidebars are permanently fixed.

Thanks for the extra info. :)

I love the idea of being able to dump multiple items in the trash at a time. I really despise using it now because it takes soooo long. That is an amazi g idea. :)

As for the profiles, I hope they stay the same. I'm just getting tha hang of coding. It took me forever to make the profile I have now. I don't know how filtering out certain words would affect it and if I could fix it if it got messed up. I used the CSS remover button and didn't like it.

Ok, no idea what USD users are. I like the idea of being able to buy cs eggs with credits. Ibought a credit token the other day to buy some then realized that I couldn't and was suuper upset. The pricing on things when purchasing with credits is wacked out. I did the math. If you buy things that are availible with credits right now then sold them at the price thay sell for, you lose loads of tu.

I completely support the trash isthmus thing. I would also like to add that the default sidebars are not fixed, I have a lovely profile that remains completely untouched when I add the &test=1 to the end of my code.
