More ideas:
1) Fighter.
Fighter emphasises training and caring for pets. This is different from most ranchers as, frankly, almost all pets you see for sale from ranchers aren't trained and when combat comes out this could be a nice cl*censored* to have.
Fighters get 1 free super healing potion effect a day (or an effect similar to that, perhaps "tend pet"?) and have pets they train gain 5-10% extra on stats at random. The happiness and wellfare of their pets effects their luck on random effects with having all pets happy, at least satasfied and with at least 1 HP granting a luck bonus.
Fighters can have as many pets as Ranchers, but must keep all pets well-tended as a drawback. Fighters get a "stable" to show off their fighting pets that displays the pets' stats and a "sales floor" with more expensive space than that of a rancher.
Fighters get 1 hatch a day.
2) Gatherer
Gatherers get a bonus to their random event chance. They get more searches of the forest, 1 extra item from the trash istmus and 2 hatches a day (more help for the gathering).
Gatherers are allowed a shop of their own, albeit at more expensive price space thana merchant, and a "trades floor" where their trades are displayed for all to see and are searchable to others. Only Gatherers get searchable trades.
Gatherers are allowed maybe a pet or two more than merchants, but not by much.
