i don't know how it is for merchant shops but apparently alerts are not sent out for when a pet is sold in ranchers. I was a bit shocked when i went to retrieve a pet to give to someone and saw that the pet had been sold sometime between last night and this morning. It wasn't that big a deal but I DID have to give the person's tu back so it was a minor inconvenience...
Many people sell hundreds of things a day, and it would be a major inconvenience to get a hundred alerts for selling things that you really don't care about.
I support because that sort of thing has happened to me before, even though it was only a minor inconvenience. I'm not really sure how to put my thoughts into words here...
Anyway, I would probably support completely if there was an option to turn this sort of thing off, because like RabbitWings said, some people do sell a lots of stuff in a day, and I know I don't exactly enjoy having my alerts spammed =P
Doesn't affect me at all, since I don't bother owning a shop, but I could see the use.
Some people who are in need of Tu quickly might feel comfort by knowing they'll get an alert if something is bought, so they don't have to anxiously keep checking their Til/Till (still don't know how to spell it) for Tu. Or maybe someone just like keeping on top of things. Others however, might feel as though the alerts spam them if they have a large shop that gets many purchases a day.
So I support with the option of turning the Alert off or on, just because I see how it would benefit some users.

Semi-support. I do understand that most of the time we don't check our rancher shops' tills all the time and can be impatient when it comes to pets being sold (some take months to be sold and in the end we just give up), so an alert would be helpful.
However, it's also because of our laziness or forgetfulness that we don't check our shops frequently. It would help if we just check our rancher shops consciously, maybe once a week.
