Make the stat raising items one use

I am talking about the items like the Runaway Bird, and Kir's fruits.

I would like them to be like the books. One pet can only use them for stat raising once, after then it has no effect on the same pet.

Why I would like that, is because Rescreatu's training system is really unique in the point that you do not need to buy potions/codestones/coins etc. to train your pet, but you have to invest time.

My natural Zenirix is over 540 points in all stats, thet was the result of years of continuous training. He is my pride. I never miss a day of training for him. But I train several other pets of mine too. Actually just training them all in a row costs me 30 minutes a day.

Increasing the pet's stats increases its value, as I guess Battle funtion will be added back too in the future.
And now starting with Kir's fruit (that was at least hard to get enough) continuing with Runaway Bird, that is given out cheaply to whomever not, random items are released, that increase 5 points of a stat just by using on the pet. Getting 5 points with training takes about 10days (unless that is the only stat you train). And now you can use 10 Birds in a row to get 50 points within half a minute (with no limitation).

I do not say to retire these items. I do not say not to add more items with stat raising function. I just say, make them like the books: Only one use/pet with a stat raising effect.

My Zenirix entered the High Score list on all stats as a reward of years of training. I do not want my years of invested time go poof by someone just feeding their pets a ton of Birds or whatever. I know I can use them myself, and plan to if needed, but I do not want Rescreatu's training to be reduced to that level, when a trained pet depends on how much TU you have (like all other pet sites).

Please consider.

I agree completely. I hate the Kir intellect potions. I liked it when there was a fixed number of books that could be read, I got bumped off the intellect list because of those potions. It isn't fair to the people who can't afford to spend that kind of money.

If you look at the average cost of 5 or 8 points with Kir's quest you'll see it's hardly worth going through the excruciating task of spending every tu you've earned for that albino Gondra for just 5 points of power when you could spend about 10k on 10 Super Healing Potions and spend about 5 minutes total in 3 days to get 5 points through training.

 

On top of the expenses caused by Kir's Quest in getting the fruits for the potions, you need to factor in the cost of the recipe book. Whether you're buying it from another user or going the distance and handing in every albino seasonal on the face of the site you're still paying out your nose for these things. It's not easy to get them. (Personally, I don't even think it's worth it either, but if you want to spend copious amounts of TU for the glory of being in the top 50 for a pet's stat then you deserve it. Lol.) This is why we generally frown upon the practice of lending out books for recipes. Or, at least, I do. It gives users the chance to find recipes without having to pay for it or work hard to get it like the person who owns it. When Kir's Quest was created, we factored in the cost of having to purchase the recipe book, not for the generous/rule-breaking acts of people dropping hints or lending it out for free.

 

You bring up the point of not being able to afford those kinds of prices for these stat-boosting items, but like... what about those users who can't afford to buy the books? Lol. It's all on the same basis. Some people can afford to do it; some people can't afford to do it.

 

It's possible for you guys to use these items. If you're training, it doesn't bar you from using these perks. If you don't use them because of your own choice then... that's not something we can help. Really, everyone's given the chance. Everyone has fair and ample opportunity.

Sure. But this will go out of hand faster than you think. People are not very interested in stats now. But once the battles will be released again, pets with 1000+ stat will appear within days.

Sure the "train with item" system is a common way of all other petsites and it works. But it has a huge difference. Even with the item, you have to wait 1 hour for the pet to gain only 1 stat (or even 24-48 hours for 1 point at higher levels). So noone can boost their pets to the skies within a day.

I do not know how the new battle system of Res will work. But if they plan to add some fixed opponents, it won't de such a desirable situation is they have to add new stronger ones every second day, as training goes on 5 stat points/2 seconds (a click).

My Zenirix has already dropped 2 positions back on agility list because of the Bird That Got Away (which is given out for a few thousand TU of foods compared to the Kir Fruit's millions).
And that is not on the top 100 list, where there is only 1-2 points difference in the positions, but on the top 10 list, where people are separated by 30 or so points. Pets that were way behind me, jumped almost 200 points within days.
Now it is only Agility that can be boosted like this. But I guess other stat boosting items will follow, maybe for defence, strength next time.

It doesn't seem a big deal now, of course anyone can do it. I choose not to, because I like to see agility-defence-strength at even level. It is of course my choice :).
But remember the time when you could reread books to boost intelligence just by putting the pet in and out of Ranch? Every one could do it, so where's the problem? It got out of hand, and in the end all pets intelligence was zeroed down. Now I do not want that to happen to my Zenirix :/.

Putting a pet into a ranch and taking them out to reread books was a glitch which was abused by many users. Patrick's way of solving it without having to ban countless users for the glitch abuse was to dropp all creatu's intelligence stat to their hatch norm. These new items that come out won't cause your creatu's stat to be forcibly dropped to the hatch norm, since we are purposefully releasing them.

 

I would much rather see how the battle system and new training system goes. I've offered up a suggestion to change the training so those users who dedicate time out of their lives (much like you) will be rewarded greater than those who "make a short cut". (I say it like that because there are users who take time to sell almost everything valueable they have to get enough TU for these stat-boosting items. One user in paticular is constantly selling her items and well-named pets to earn just 50m for a Captured Star alone.)

 

I just don't think that it's completely necessary to make these items one-use per pet. I agree, The Bird That Got Away was ridiculously common and should not have given that high a stat boos. That was a fault on our part and we're learning from that mistake. And I'll be sure to badger Patrick so this doesn't happen.

 

As it is now, these items are made to benefit those users who don't have a snowball's chance in Hell to catch up with those whose creatu's stats are 100+. The chance that these items fall into the hands of people who don't necessarily fall into this category is unfortunate. These items are also a benefit to those people who take the time to earn the money to afford them. 

 

I think it's time for the users who train their creatu to start getting benefits. As it is now, the only reward you reap is 1-2 stat increase level and the occ*censored*ional health increase (which, by the way, there are no stat-increasing items for that. So creatu who don't train will not get an increase in this feature). Since these items are increasing stats at high numbers, I'd love to see training offer that to a dedicated creatu over time.

 

Though I have to ask you, where is your main concern at? The stats in the standpoint of a person who will battle or the stats in the standpoint of a person interested only in the high scores?

I am not really into high scores, as actually I know I cannot have a chance there to keep my position, as I train all three stats. Those who go for high score, train only that specific stat, so they will catch up and push me down eventually, and that's fine :).

But I am really looking forward for the Battle function to be reopened.
I also have several pets I trained up to nice stats just for the purpose so they could be sold once Battles open, and I would not like to see them devaluated before that time comes.
I do not worry about the Kir fruits (hence I did not post this when those were released). A pet trained with those will have a high price anyway. But the bird was a bit of a shock o_0.

If you say there won't be a helath increasing item, that's good to hear though^^.

Yeh. I have to apologize about the bird. We never intended for it to be handed out in such... large amounts. It was supposed to be 1 in every 50 points or some outrageously high fraction like that. Some people weren't even supposed to get it. Lol. When we tried to get the coders to put in a fail rate, it was too late. :/ So this won't happen again.

 

So yeah. With the new battle system, there's been some talk about it among staff to upgrade the value of training. It's rewarding now, but with all these stat-boosting items coming out, I want training to be more attractive to the users who have lots of time on their hands and want to spend it here with a productive result. I'm hoping to make the stat-changing items a thing that people buy to catch up, not as their main source of training.
