I don't know; I might be the only one who thinks but I don't think there should be a rule about necroposting in the writing forum?

In the Fan clubs, the rule isn't there because of obvious reasons, but it seems the same to me in the writing forum. It's not like a role play, where if it's dead then no one's going to post. In the writing forum, you usually post your stuff for critique and thoughts, and what if someone who wants to critique/give thoughts or read it and wants to post something but it is too late?

I don't know; at the same time it makes sense to keep the rule but I just thought I'd take a shot. |D

Support from me.
There's also the idea that maybe the author wants to add another chapter to the story after a writer's block or something. They wouldn't be able to get critique on the new section, either.
I always found the necroposting rule on the Writing section quite annoying.

Support, for all the reasons above. Writers shouldn't be pressed to submit work every so often for fear of it being too late to do so when they DO have something they want to write.

Guys remember that Necroposting doesn't apply to the poster of the thread. If an author wants to add a new chapter two months later, they're in full ability to do that and revive the thread. After they post, people can post critiques and stuff within a month.

I am glad this was brought up, because we would like to change the necroposting rules so that they apply differently in every forum, and aren't the same across the board. This has already happened to some degree in a couple of the forums.

Any suggestions for the amount of time before it is considered necroposting? For any forum, just make sure to mention which forum. Or suggestions of removing it altogether, like for the writing forum. It would be great to see what everyone thinks.

No time limit for Suggestions. If someone wants to dig up an old thread that's still valid and contribute/try to start discussion again, they should be able to. It would perhaps prevent some cluttering.

Also no time limit for Roleplays provided the poster is an accepted member of the group. A new user trying to join a Roleplay that hasn't been posted on for a month is pointless, but if someone wants to post a reply to a previously inactive Roleplay they were in to try to start it up again with the other participants, they should be able to.

As Broken has stated, we've been wanting to re-evaluate our Necroposting rules. We are considering improvements to the entire site, including the forums as a whole.

Good input in here already. I definitely think writing/art, suggestions and roleplay need some different parameters. They are a little different than normal discussions.

Should we have certain threads auto-lock after a certain time (but only allow the OP to revive the post)? That would eliminate the mishaps and hopefully encourage people to make new threads.
