I was thinking about this a long time and I think that this could work.

I was thinking that we could have new Staff:Concept Artist=Sketch Guy.I now that alot of users cant use Photo Shop or GIMP, so i wanted to give everybody a chance to make a difference.Many users have great talent like Timberwolf97 but they cant expresit here cuz the Staff Artist have to make digital photos.

I though that we could have users that could build bases of creatus and items and other stuff and then Staff Artists could touch them a bit.

So, what do you think?Support?

Some of the user-made creatu and ideas spark the interest of our artists and compell them to draw something similar. There have even been items made by the artists that were requested specifically by users. They took a list of the ones they wanted to use and made them.

I like the idea of having concept artists, but I think if you guys continue to post your creatu ideas here and artists and other staff continue to browse through and look at your ideas, I don't think there's a necessity for a concept artist as a official position. You all do a really good job on your own! <3

I just thougt that some of ideas, like Manta Ray creatu or crocodile one didnt shine but I still like them.Many users supported this Ideas but they never come out.

Or like Poking stick and even poking stick game(my idea), I really wanted this to come true.I dont now do you even like this suggestions but I think that you should give it a try.I would really want to help this site grow by drawing but I cant because, like I said before, I cant draw in digital.And that makes me really sad.

Not all ideas get made, no. Even ideas that the staff make aren't always made. It's all of the staff members' job to be a "concept artist" whether by describing in word or showing sketches. The artists have enough on their plate as is, so to have a concept artist continually drawing ideas that they need to make digitally is going to become stressful.

I can really see a concept artist position being created if the staff number we have expands or the work load decreases and the staff have all run into a creativity block. If an artist sees an idea he or she really likes on the suggestions forum, or even during casual conversation in the SB, and they have the spare time to make it, then they will! I just don't see that happening anytime soon with what we are all doing right now. Artists are constantly busy, we make sure we make good use of their employment here!

As I said before, I like the idea, I just don't think we have the resources necessary for it. You guys just keep posting your ideas and maybe it will get implemented. (:

It's not so much as stress as it is a bigger work load for them, which then causes stress if they have to do it. This is the problem with it:

Concepts get proposed > Staff debate over it whether it is a good idea or not > Concept gets approved > Concept gets postponed for a time when it can be worked on

This happens lots of times. Artists still have a ton of things to do so they need to be working all the time on their own project. Even if the concept artist was to draw something pertaining to their project, it would still result in the artist having to redo the sketch and they could have done it themselves.

Sorry if I seam mean about this, I'm trying to explain it as easily as possible. I do like the idea, but I just don't think it will work. I think Res needs digital artists first before considering an idea of concept artist.

And I'll add that this is just my opinion, it probably isn't a fact. If Patrick or xee (she's in charge of the artist department) think it's a brilliant idea then I'll be glad!

I have no idea whether my full message posted on the shoutbox, Zmajka, because it was somewhat lengthy, so I'll post it here for you, and try to elaborate my meaning. As a prior site artist, understanding the limitations and workload of drafting and drawing images for a community, I do agree with the explanations offered by LeTainted.

Positions are nice to have, but they are not necessary to contribute great ideas. As a... *snortlaugh* "Normal User", you may not have any percieved control over what happens to the site and whether your ideas are implimented, but that illusory. Your points are still just as valid regardless of how in depth you work with those who make them, because you are part of the all important community. ^^

The best way to help is to continue offering brilliant suggestions. :3

LeTainted and Illustrator pretty much covered the points I would make on this suggestion. :}

Staff actively read user suggestions, but do not always respond. It is often the case that it takes months to even start new projects regardless of where the idea comes from due to our ever growing production to-do list! Once a project begins it can take even longer to  produce depending on it's priority level.  

An Artist who could do nothing but concept would not be a practical addition to the Art Staff. We need people who can conceive and produce.

I think the community serves just fine for conceptual inspiration as is :}
