Oh wow, what a great idea! Some newbies do really need a headstart. I say that for one, the new quests that have recently just came out are helping wonderously with tu earning. :3 I agree with the little quiz, and I do think it is a good idea to give a little 'welcome' rmail, maybe a list like Broken said, of where to find things and what certain things mean. It all sounds great. ^-^ If I think of something to add i'll come back. :3 Support!

This seems like a good idea to me, but I think a lot of users would just use the old CTRL+F and type in keywords from the question, so whoever designed the quiz would have to be linguistically clever to avoid that loophole. It can't be too long or have too...complicated of words, though. I think there should be different quizzes based on the user's age level. There's little point in having a 10 year old user take a quiz that had rules about posting in the shout box. As for the 'newbie pack,' it could be something similar to the one on Gaia Online (it may have changed, but...) there are a couple options the users can pick from, and I think that they should depend (in part) on their clas.s and planet. Such as, a rancher who signs up from Reiflem will get one of ever nonseasonal egg from that planet. More tu for new users is always nice, too, so I think more around 50,000-100,000 tu, which would give them the ability to get into stocks a little, buy more items, and give them more of a chance with the longer-playing users. Food, I would give them a basic item form each of the foodstuffs shops, and ti tle it like 'Complimentary Cheese Pizza from Antonio' so they know where to go for certain things. The same could go for the other shops.

I definitely think more TU is needed to start out with. 10K has been the amount since I joined two years ago, and things have changed drastically in that time. Good ideas so far, y'all keep them coming! :D

I agree with this completely there are to many newbies that get on the SB and mess up or spam it and end up getting banned for one reason or another lots of new players don't last long... it would be nice if we could have a quiz asking the most important questions about how Res Players act...

I think also after or before the quiz there should be a tutorial on how to feed your pets and about the bank and playing games...You know just to show a new user around the site.

I like Scrub's idea about the tutorial...we get a lot of newbies in the SB asking about how to feed their pets or why something isn't working.

Is there something about the Help page that isn't sufficient enough? Or is it that it just isn't noticeable? I'm trying to figure out why a tutorial would be necessary when we have that. Don't get me wrong, I'm not putting it down, just trying to understand. I'm the type of person who looks for the FAQ page first; of course everyone isn't that way tho.

Suggestions for items to go in the newbie pack have included tu, food, eggs, clothes and super healing potions... I'm wondering if maybes a few books should be added too? The Complete Guide to Spam, A Guide to the Rancher/Merchant Cl*censored* might be helpful :p Would help reiterate everything.

I think a big part of why the FAQ, though useful, isn't appreciated as much is because when you first join something you don't want to read a bunch of questions. You want to be told the basics and explore the site! I think a quest based tutorial on the basics is something that would really help newbies! When you're at the point where you find out about rare pets and all that wonderful end game stuff, you're hooked! Anyone have any specific ideas on how this could be done? Should there be something more than just "do this and this"? Do you think people would want to see an NPC that deals with newbies, or maybe a creatu that "guides" you through?

Not a bad idea, crow. If it could be implemented. The first thing a new player could see is an NPC character inviting them to take part in a sort of information gathering quest on rescreatu (the NPC character could be Kir, seeking info about our planet XD) and the further they progress the greater the prize could be. Something like that? owo

Kir would be fantastic. Especially because then he would be a familiar NPC when they met him again at the pet quest, and I feel like a few well known characters are always a good idea. <3

I agree, but what if they cheat, hrr? There should be a few older members that shoot questions at them, 1x1, so that nobody can have the exact same set of questions. But then again. *puzzled* It's still ... uwaah D:

Support! I really like this idea! Not only will it give new users things that they'll need when they start out but it makes sure that they read the rules of the website! Perfect!! And what if they fail? lol

@ LadyTsunade - if they fail, Kir eats their pets. If they have no pets, he eats them. :u lolz Twint has brought an important issue; You just know someone is gonna post all the answers to the questions somewhere on the internet. XD But if the questions appeared in a random order the person would have to read the question and try to pair it up with the right answer so at least they'd have had to read the question... :x

I just want to say that I really like what xRequiemx said, mixing up the wording a little bit to avoid people just skimming through things and picking out answers without actually reading it. I don't think people posting answers to the questions is going to be that big of a deal, I mean searching the internet for the answers is so much more trouble than just actually reading the rules XD Getting the right answers and gaining things that newbies need like clothes, money, and food is an awesome idea. Having a bit more TU to start off with in the game would certainly help as well. Most people want to just play around on the site and see what there is to do, they don't want to have to work for money right away XD And on the subject of getting a question wrong, I don't think anything should happen except the question doesn't go away until they answer it correctly. Perhaps after the 2nd or 3rd try the user looses the item or money they would have gotten if they'd answered it right the first time.
