I didn't see where Patrick said that the transferable items would go away, so I apologize if I missed something. But how do non-transferable items affect the virtual economy? Especially if the transferable ones are still available?
*Edit: As an example, say that I paid cash for 50 "Uber-Credits" (not purchasable with Tu) for a tricked-out purple hat for my HA. It would have feathers, a huge brim, and would literally reek of insanity. And Disco. But in the end...it's a hat for my HA. That's all. I can't sell it for Tu. I can't give it to someone else. I don't understand how this hat (or my subsequently amazing HA) would drive down or raise prices for other items in the game which are purchasable with Tu. I also personally think that making said hat available for Tu later would kind of ruin the whole basic idea here. But I'm slow about economy-stuff, so I welcome enlightenment. :)
Just a small suggestion, could the special currency maybe be purchasable as a gift for another user? Maybe have an option on the purchase page that reads "For self" or "For (enter username)"? I know I'd love to spoil some users who would be happy to donate and help the site but simply can't due to college/kids/real life. ♥
