Y'know how you gett really big images that stretch the page and how some of the text on the page is lost due to the big image? I have a few ideas to resolve that problem...

Disabling signatures:

  • A user can disble another user's signature (it is very common to find oversized signatures and often, they are the cause of the page stretch)
  • OR staff will disable the signature until the person resizes it (not too sure how this will work though)
  • If the signature is disabled, it should be replaced with "signature disabled" or "signature disabled by staff"
  • I suppose an enable signature button could be in the signature? Just in case someone wants to see it?
  • In the forum options, there should be a reminder that says "signatures should have a width smaller than [INSERT NUMBER OF PX HERE] to avoid stretching the page.

Image moderation:

  • Staff should moderate images
  • Staff should question the user whether using a URL or resizing the image is possible if the image is too big
  • If the image is too big, it does not count as a warning and they do not become punished in any way. Just a simple reminder.

I don't want to copy and paste text from a stretched page into the quick reply any more. I want to see the text, without page stretches and I'm sure you do too.

yeah but somebody could just go doing naughty tricks and disabling peoples signatures just becuase...but its a good idea. I would prefer that only staff could disable them

I think the diable feature shoould be personal, so if user1 diabled user2s siggy, user3 should still be able to see user2s siggy. But I think leaving it to staff would be better anyways.

I suppose I support, but it might be very long and tedious work for the staff to look at all the signatures and delete the stretchy ones.  =/

Not delete, block. Deleting is mean and they didn't exactly do anything wrong.

Actually, it's the user's fault. You'd think they would notice if their signature was stretching the screen, and I'd bet they'd be irritated if they couldn't read the text either.

Therefore I think staff should be able to delete signatures. On another pet site I went to if there was a MAJOR page stretch on a signature or profile the staff would just put up a note that read

.: Signature/Profile Deleted By Staff :.

And it was pretty convenient. :/ At the least, just delete the picture and ask the person to either leave it off or resize it.
