Pet Trade Mistakes - Avoid them!

So, a friend accidentally just traded away one of her prized pets from a player who didn't ask to set it up.

Hopefully, she'll get it back, but this sparked a desire to come up with a way to prevent accidental pet trades.

However, in order to prevent such things in the future, I suggest two things be added to pet trades.

The first... add a confirmation for accepting a trade.  Most of these mistakes happen when users accidentally press accept rather than reject.  Its not that hard to do, seeing as the buttons are quite close together.

The second... prevent new accounts from setting up pet trades for 30 days.  They can recieve them, but not set them up. Hopefully they'll learn to be polite and stop offering unwanted trades on pets that are not for sale or trade.

We've worked hard for our pets.  A little mistake like this should not be the reason one gets lost.

Agreed.

I fully back anything that restricts possible troublemakers from having their annoying way.

COMPLETE AGREE.

I just traded my beloved pet ;3; The user was har*censored*ing me, through pet trades, so i accidentally hit accept.

I wish there would be a confirmation. Reduce the mistakes!!

Full support the confirmation!
i hate unreasonable offers in first place... and the fear you might click something wrong when denying... don't like that feeling. Getting distracted the second you decide to click can be fatal.

Not sure if that 30day thing for new players will have effect.
It's not only or always the new players making offers on Permanents. X3

I completely agree. I had a user I don't know create a pet with my username and then setup a trade offer. At least it was on a junk pet, but that's annoying. Since I accepted to protect the name, it won't happen again, but I suspect it was a new user.

I'm sorry that happened to you Mo. I hope you get your pet back. Can you request a trade back? Or is the user banned.

I like the confirmation idea also. I am on a laptop, using a touchpad, and there are plenty of times when i accidentally click something, when I am just meaning to drag the cursor instead.

Once again, I find myself drawn into agreeing your statement, Geo.

Thankfully, I pretty much never get junk offers for my Creatu (not sure why, but I'm not ungrateful about it), but it annoys me just as much whenever I see respectable users here getting the foul end of some players.

I even agree with the 30-days' wait for newbies. Sure, some new users are perfectly friendly, but if they want to Trade decently with somebody, then they can simply Accept the offer their friend will make for them.

Agree.

A function for turning off random pet trade would be good too.
Maybe we could pick from 'Only friends' to 'Nobody' to have yes/no access to pet trade our creatus.

I agree, and Roxas's idea makes it all the better.

I think it would be good if we could set at each of our creatu separately, if they are tradeable or not. We could set our permanent and precious ones as "untradeable" for everyone, while still keeping the others open for possible trades. Then we wouldn't have to switch back and forth an "all-pet trades" option whenever we do want to trade another pet. This could be combined with the option of not being able to forest the "untradeable" pet, so you couldn't accidentally release them either (someone suggested something like that before I think).

I support both suggestions.

And like Yaizhbeen said, I think there should be an option for each individual profile pet that lets you determine whether the pet is available for trade or not.

If someone tried to offer a pet trade on a pet that was specified to not be for trade, they would return an error that says "This pet is not available for public trades." or something. Or maybe not even show the pet as an option in the trade-drop down menu, or make the untradable pet names red and gray out the "send request" button if a red/untradable pet is selected.
