Releasing Pets (new idea)

I've been very successful with my Ebilia egg hunts. However, an idea came to mind.

In RL, if people collect too many eggs, especially of a species that only breed seasonally (birds in this case), that led to the severe decline or extinction of the species.

If someone is hunting seasonal eggs of Rescreatu, of course they're not going to want to release any of them into the wild. A natural Ebilia costs 750k alone. By RL logic, seasonal pets would become even rarer or "extinct in the wild" through so much egg collecting.

Also, the Rancher problem needs to be solved. With Seasonal collections, whose to say Seasonals won't one day be worth little more than non-Seasonals, leaving Ranchers with little to no profit. (Luckily for species like the Ebilia, there are "Ebilia collectors".)

Therefore, I propose that one out of every five or ten Seasonal eggs collected or Seasonal pets hatched must (or optional if you want to go that route) "be returned to the wild". This number will "grow up" and breed by next year, thus giving another "season". This will not only help keep numbers down, but help keep prices higher than they would be.

That or Seasonal pets' rarities could be lowered. IMO even with a .08% rarity, Ebilia eggs were/are too easy to find.

Sorry but no support, as it is it can take around a half hour to find an egg. A half hour just to "release the egg?"
I don't think thats going to float with most people in res.
Including me :P

Ebilia eggs can fail just like other non-cs non-uldavi eggs. That is what will help curb overpopulation. =)

No support for reasons already stated. To counter your Real Life logic, people accidentally skip over eggs all the time. Those eggs could then hatch and repopulate last year. Plus, most animals can reproduce for many seasons. Population Decline or Extinction would not happen.

@Dragon393: I agree with you. However, when I was hunting Ebilia, I found about 50 eggs. I don't think it's possible to hatch them [myself] all before they all get "Old".

I was finding about 3 Ebilia eggs per 30 minutes myself, and I was stunned that was happening.

Why do people do the Egg Hunt? To make TU. Everyone does it. Yes, I did it, too. However I was not expecting to find that many Ebilia eggs.

How many eggs hatched will it take to devalue Seasonal Ebilia and Jaaku eggs? Compared to the average number of them used for Kir?

With each year, and pets not aging in Rancher shops, I still have the concern of devaluing of pets like Ebilia and Jaaku...I've already noticed it for Easero...unless a "trade pet" is introduced for one/both.

@14brokenmirrors: Now that you mention that, it kind of makes a point. All the people who don't hatch Ebiliia or Jaaku eggs within a week will have old eggs, and eventually spoiled eggs.

Along with the failed hatched...so far I haven't gotten a "fail" from one of my seasonal eggs.

@GraveyardfoxTo counter your Real Life logic, people accidentally skip over eggs all the time. Those eggs could then hatch and repopulate last year. Plus, most animals can reproduce for many seasons.

That's why the pets are called Seasonals. Their eggs are only available once a year.

Logic dictates that the eggs' parents mate only once a year, too.

Yes, people skip over eggs all the time. However, they also collect a lot more eggs than they tend to skip.

IMO, it would be interesting to see Res apply some real-life situations, whether to keep the Creatu numbers down (and prevent devaluation) or to help perfect the system to correspond to systems in RL nature.

No support. If you want to go down the 'real life' route, then perhaps here are a few other things to keep in mind. Reiflem is supposed to be incredibly hot. As far as I know, the only organisms- if any- capable of survivng that would be bacteria. Plus, do you honestly think a creature that loses it's flesh as it grows up is realistic? Or that all creatures in the world lay eggs? :/

Sorry mate, but if you wanna do some things RL, I think it would be fair to do them all RL, which would destroy res. >>

Well now. I should... Probably put something intelligent here. At some point. Eventually.

*cough* So you're saying animals in real life that have a season for mating only mate once a year? Basically all Halloween, Easter, Valentines Day are just seasons for the animals to mate and lay eggs then move on with their lives until the next mating seasons.

YT poses a good argument though, but the site did implement Spoiled Eggs in an attempt to be "more realistic" so I'm kinda half and half of that. x)

I personally thought the spoiled eggs was a good thing, but that it was mostly just to help the economy. |D
