The ti tle pretty much explains it. I was thinking they should be removed because 1. They could have cheated to get that rank 2. They're banned, so that means they won't be back on the site, at least not with that account name.
Thanks! ^^
Something will be here eventually.

Definitely agree with this for users who have cheated to gain a leaderboard rank.
What about those who get banned for other reasons? Should they lose their rank in leaderboards as well? If yes, why?

I support, but only for those who have perma-bans. Temporary bans, no.

I believe absolutely anyone that is banned from the site shouldn't be on the leaderboard. Just have it so banned users can't show up. If they get unbanned, they won't be a "banned" user and they'll show up again, simple.
If they cheated, they cheated. That's all there is to it. There is no reason to create a distinction between reasons for the ban for not showing.

That seems fair to essentially "hide" banned players from leaderboards. And in the chance they get unbanned, they can gain their current standing back.
I gave questions about distinction because it seems unfair to me that someone who gets banned for something completely unrelated should be penalized by losing their leaderboard rank. Especially if they've not cheated to gain that rank.

The thing is, if they're banned they're banned. They will NOT be coming back (assuming permaban, since if they're unbanned this point is moot). This means that there's no reward to them for being on the leaderboard, just kind of a penalty to everyone else. Doesn't really matter what they cheated for, that account is done for and doesn't deserve any awards/rewards.

I can only think of maybe three cases where someone was banned for a reason that was not due to cheating...and those were for sexually inappropriate roleplaying, severe harassment, and stalking another player in real life. Oh and then there are those who are banned because they joined to do nothing but troll or attempt to hack.
The majority of all bans are made because someone is found to have multiple accounts, and those accounts are used to fuel one main account, meaning that pretty much every ranking would be affected. Given this fact, I think it would be fine to exclude banned players from leaderboards. Should be fairly easy for Pat to implement; I would think he'd just need to set a condition for the leaderboard to exclude players who's accounts show a ban has been applied. If the ban was ever removed, the leaderboard would automatically update.

Thank you for giving me concrete reasons, Broken! We obviously needed your input!
With all the things Broken has given considered, I think this is as simple as it seems. She of course knows this area very well.
I was merely exploring the ideas of if an unfortunate user lost all their work on a leaderboard just because they got banned for something miniscule. Which I think could still be a possibility. So, it would probably be a good idea to "hide" banned players who rank rather than erasing. Just in the off chance that their account is un-banned for any reason. Scores that have been achieved through MA or cheating obviously don't deserve their rank back, or their account. So, I don't see that clashing with my precaution.

:) Like mirrors said, just set a check on the leaderboard for a "banned" status. If it exists, the user doesn't show up, if it doesn't, the user does. Also like mirrors said, the leaderboard would automatically update with bans. No need for a "hide" or any other feature, that's already handled.
