I'm bringing this back up because the discussion for it (which I can no longer find) fizzled out.
We shouldn't lose every level for our streak if we miss a day. Lose X number of days (whatever that number is) but not all of them. I could have sworn I went yesterday, but apparently I didn't because here I am back at level 0. I was at level 700+. That is literally over 2 years of progress gone because I missed ONE day. The level of demoralization involved is incredible. Now I have to build my way through the terrible lower levels to even have a chance at any rewards worth anything again. Reminder: 2 full years of dedicated site visiting, destroyed by one slip-up.
In my case it was me being stupid apparently, but in other cases people might lose Internet, people might go on vacation, nowadays health problems can crop up more often because of the state of the world. While I recognize that the point is to keep people coming back every day, we can still have that while maybe lowering the punishment for taking a day off for whatever reason. It'll probably actually be a bigger motivator to keep trying because people would know that one mess up wouldn't undo all the work they did.
Edit: I don't know if I just don't remember anything but was it always 61+ days for the final tier? That's a big thing to lose even ignoring any "bonus" days you have built up. Yet another reason why 2 FULL months of consistency shouldn't be punished by one mistake (or even not a mistake, just one situation where you couldn't get online)

I agree! I have often built my Spring levels up (not over 2 years, woah!) but when I lose it - often when I think I have definitely done it, I get frustrated. It takes me a while to get over the disappointment and start building it up again.

I agree with wolf that the idea of losing all of one's progress at the springs after missing just ONE DAY should be reconsidered.
As said by the others, the loss of all the levels and resetting back to 0 is a huge motivation, and more than once it has made me frustrated enough to go on hiatus, since springs were (are?) one of the grandest rewards of this site.
There have been days when I simply forgot, but there have also been days when I've been outside at an event all day and was far too exhausted to even remember to log in when I reached home --- 5-10 days of a setback could be an adequate repercussion , but losing months, or even years of progress is quite the demotivation, enough to just give up the activity or more. To all the staff members working hard behind the scenes, please give it a little thought :3

I definitely definitely agree. If anything, maybe the higher the tier, the more days you'd lose. One day at tier 0, 2 or 3 at tier 1, and so on. It would still incentivize people to check often, it still wouldn't be as disheartening if you're at 700 and lose only a week of progress (or whatever the chosen 'unit' of time is for each tier).
I understand there still needs to be an incentive to visit, hence this little suggestion of mine, but it still seems way too frustrating to lose that much progress because of a simple mistake like that.
So sorry for your loss of progress though, Wolf. Wow.

This would be awesome, but I think there is still a glitch where they randomly reset even if you did go. (seen someone within the past month get annoyed that their spring was reset again even though they went) In the past around two years/maybe longer (forgot how long I've been doing this) I got tired of "missing" a day with the springs and I set the springs as one of my start up pages, so every day when I go on my computer I right away visit the springs. But some how my springs still reset from time to time even with doing that. Surprisingly I'm at 172 now though.

Definitely agree and support this. It wasn't until recently that I decided to even try with the springs again because having it reset every time just wasn't worth the effort to me.

FelisFire does a similar thing with their daily log-in bonus -- each day consecutively you log in, you get like, 10 en or whatever. If I made it up to 500 en a day but miss 2 days, it bumps me down to 480 en the day I log in, and it stacks like that.
I'd really like something like this for the springs.

Definitely agree on this! The highest I got was level 64, I know it's not really a lot, but it was to me. Internet died and so did my levels. Rip. Hope you get those 700+ back!

I massively agree with this entire thread!! I've been discouraged from doing springs for a while because I kept "missing" a day at higher tiers/numbers

I agree ! Sometimes I have to go to hospital due to my intl illness I was LVL 87 I know that's not high but it frustrated me that I ended up having to go back to 0 because I had to miss a day for my own health :U:

I would agree with this, along with some tweaks to some of the other things that have been changed that seem not to fit to well here.

I don't play regularly anymore, so I don't mess with the Springs anyhow. But when I was a much more active player, I still didn't try with the Springs because it was too easy to lose every ounce of progress if your life happened to have different plans for the day. For me, that entirely ruined the allure of the incentives the Springs provides. I do think progress lost should perhaps be scaled to your streak, so you lose more progress as you build a higher number, but not so much that you become unmotivated to continue. Honestly, almost any adjustments to keep it from being the unforgiving punishment it is now probably would have my support.

Agreed! I play almost everyday but somehow i will just forget to visit the springs or it resets on its own when i thought i visited it already. Or perhaps missing a day will make you drop a tier instead of dropping all the way to 0.

I'm in huge agreement with this whole thread. Personally I favor Juke's idea of lowering your score by a small amount per day instead of resetting it entirely, but all the ideas presented sound like a fun and welcome addition.

I was looking at a thread of already suggested ideas, one was that a new item (perhaps cs?) could be introduced. It would allow you to regain your Spring streak if you missed one day. Another idea I thought of is a "streak freeze" which will cover you for one day if you have it - perhaps multiple days. Just an idea :)

I don't think we should have to pay money to save the streak, personally. It's a matter of incentive to play and interact. If I knew I had to pay like $5 to save my streak, I wouldn't be much more incentivized than I am now with the streak loss.
I like the idea of tiers almost for springs day loss. Perhaps you lose as many days as the tier you're on. Tier 1, you only lose 1 day if you miss it. If you're on tier 3, you lose 3 days, etc. I think that's a comfortable balance of making it still worth it for people that have high counts to keep logging in while not hurting the lower tier people too much if they miss a day or two. Maybe even 2*tier if it's too small to do 1 day, but not much more than that I'd say.
My only concern about doing "lose an entire tier" (so if you're tier 3 you go to tier 2 when you miss a day) is for people that are at day 200, day 700, whatever. That's a MASSIVE penalty still for them.

I lost pretty much my whole streak minus a week since I came back a couple days ago because I was in the hospital for most of a day. Really bummed me out so anything to prevent that again would be super.
70+ days compared to 700+ isnt much but it was enough to make me disheartened
