I was thinking that maybe other than making the way you discard items more organised, it could tell you how much the trash isthimus is going to give you each time you discard an item BEFORE you actually discard it. For those who are just giving away items it doesn't really matter, but other people discard the items as a quick way of "Selling" the item, so it would be nice to know how much tu you're going to get before you give away your item.

If the item is "Special" meaning you can't get it in the rescreatu shops, i don't think the trash isthimus gives you anything for it

Serenity is correct. Any items you find or obtain from a seasonal event or make yourself (using items or the cooking basin or a quest) are worth nothing to the dump. :P It's only to items you can buy.
It isn't as simple as items you can buy. CS items will give no value when thrown in the trash either, and some retired items that are worth tens or hundreds of millions will only give a few hundred TU due to the original price being so low.

I've never thought of that...but yes it's for half the original price. A good way to find out if it will give any tu at all (only for merchants) is to put that item into your merchant shop and look at the value of it. By putting that item in the trash, you will get half that amount of tu. :0
