There should be a user created clothing shop where users can submit clothes they want to see on the site. All submission would have to be staff-approved, of course. It is cool to see the new clothing that the staff come out with, but there are some clothing I want to see, like plaid shirts, punk stud earrings, devil horns & tail, designer shades, gladiator outfit, kimonos, and I'm sure other users have ideas. It would be fun for users to make new clothes. every month, or what ever, users could vote for the best new clothing, and that could be released in stores.

I've considered this too-- but more like you can pay in CP to have one of your personal clothing designs submitted and then released on the site, or to be able to pay in CP to have your own PERSONAL (as in only you own maybe 5 copies) design created.
The artists are already so busy that I don't think they should have to sift through dozens of clothing design submissions a day. Even if it's a great idea, there's so much work involved. :c
But I support something along these lines!

yeah, I see what you are saying. we could have clothing tokens you could buy and submit to get three copies of a custom clothing item. that is probably a better way of doing it than my idea.

The other problem that has not been mentioned is that Rescreatu has a certain standard and style of art that needs to be kept to keep the site cohesive. If everyone starts submitting then people will be disappointed when their work isn't good enough or isn't the style we need and will complain. Also, what will they do with the CP they used? If each submission needs to be edited or even redrawn from scratch by staff then it's just the same as having a suggestions forum (which we clearly do) and having users suggest what kind of clothing they want to see, just with some priority. Overall, I think just sticking to posting a suggestion is the way to go here.

Well we do the same with OAKs. We pay CP to have custom art by the staff members. Isn't that the same thing? Users could pay the CP, submit a design, then the staff artists could match it to the site's style. I don't see the issue, other than that the artists are busy. :U

Ahh, if that's the way then I suppose it's an option. The way I read it it's users turning in their own designs, as opposed to working with an artist and just explaining what they want. The only problem then becomes balancing how much is too much CP to spend on a single piece of clothing (and how exclusive to make it) and how much time the artists have on top of everything else they already have to do.

Yep, fair enough! Some users on Res are REALLY into clothing, and if people are willing to pay real money to buy premade clothing (stuff released into the credit shop) then I bet they'd be willing to pay even more for their own custom piece of clothing :D Maybe it could be the user's choice on how exclusive it is? Something like 5-50 copies of the item existing... If not, then a nice simple number like 10 would be pretty cool. ~
Yeah, for sure the workload and time restraints that already exist on the artists are the biggest problem. :< It's a very cool idea and I think it could be profitable, but of course it's probably not going to happen-- if ever-- for a long time. Which is totally fair. ~
