My iPhone can't write in text boxes does anyone know if or how to fix this?

Well, I find it easy using my 3DS when connected to the internet.
You make your thread, then click on the edit button underneath your avatar somewhere!

I.. am pretty sure there's a way to fix this but sadly I have absolutely no idea how I did it. xD If I recall, when I first got mine I couldn't post with it. Then all of a sudden a few days later bam it works? Similar thing with an iPad.

Is it updated to the current iOS? Older generation of iPhone maybe? I can imagine either of those possibly being a problem.
