It's the color contest!
And there's more than 30m to be won!
So many colors...but hey, that's what this contest is about!
You could put a name on any of these colors, right?
But can you define them? Describe them? Make them something meaningful?
...You can?
Well good! Because that's what I'm asking you to do!
Here's the deal.
I was on the SB, and a user called Okali made a comment that gave me this idea. I thought it might be fun. So here's what you have to do.
1. Choose a color:
ROY G BIV
Yep, those are your only choices.
Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet.
Pick one.
2. Pick a medium:
To try visual arts, see number 3.
More of a writer? See number 4.
Or do you like both? Take a peek.
3. So you're a visual artist, eh?
All right, now that you've got your color picked out, here's what you need to do.
Make me some art that you think represents that color. It could be a painting, a digital sketch, a sculpture, a collage, or even a photograph. Any sort of visual art you can think of. Express yourself in whatever way you think expresses that color to you.
But here's the kicker: It must be in black and white.
Okay, and gray counts too. But. That's right. No color allowed. Break out that creative brain and create some color without color.
Just make sure to jot down your chosen color somewhere, whether it be directly on your art or just on your post. But just the simple word, mind you. And no color. ;o
4. You like to write, then?
Fantastic! I need you to use those skills of yours to write about a color.
It could be a poem, a short story, hey, even just a sentence! It could describe that color, or it could just be a piece that makes you think of that color. The possibilities are endless!
Yup, there's a very important catch: No naming colors in your writing!
Because what fun would that be?
BUT, please post your entry with text in the color that you chose. Then we can see your color while we read about it!
5. Now, here are the rest of the details.
Some more rules:
First, don't claim someone else's work as your own. Seriously? Just don't.
Speaking of which, everything needs to follow all site rules. If you're not sure what those are, go read them. It'll do ya good. ;o
You may submit up to 2 entries. This can be done in any combination - two writing entries, two visual entries, or one of each. Or just focus on a single entry - it's up to you!
By entering, you give me permission to repost your entries. I'll probably be putting them in a gallery of some sort. But whatever I do with them, you will be credited.
This will be an individual contest. You should create entries all on your own, and they should be specifically for this contest, not previous work of yours. (I'm sure it's great, but you can make something new that's just as great!) The only exception I can think of is if you need someone else to use as the subject of a photograph. But they're your model only. You tell them what to do. ;D
I'll let you know if I think of anything else. Go ahead and ask questions if you need clarification, or if there's something I missed!
Judging
Myself and Detneth106, and Hippie0711 will be doing the judging. There will be some sort of system to be determined later.
OHWAIT.
You're wondering what we're judging on? Perhaps about that 30m I mentioned earlier?
Here's how it works.
We'll be judging on general creativity, interpretation, with perhaps a little presentation thrown in. It doesn't really matter how much crazy shading you put into it, or that you wrote a small novel - unless, of course, that contributes to your interpretation of the color.
Okay, okay, here we go.
This is what's up for grabs.
Prizes
There will be two first prizes - one for visual arts and one for writing.
The same goes for second and third.
Both first prize winners will receive ten million pure tu.
Both second prize winners will receive five million pure tu.
And both third prize winners will receive an easero egg + 500k pure tu.
But that's not all!
There will also be a separate People's Choice category. At the close of the contest, I will ask all entrants to vote for their favorite entry, and whoever receives the most votes will win:
any dye kit of their choosing! Any. They're all nice. C;
To make things fair, only one entry per person may win a prize.
And finally comes...
THE DEADLINE.
I'm gonna make it July 1st for now. Mhm. This is subject to change as I don't know what my plans for then will be, but I will try to stick to it as much as possible.
Once again, ask questions if you have them. But above all - have fun!
Now what are you waiting for? Get those creative juices flowing!
Because the colors have faded...
