Anywho, my answer for today's question: 

We say bye bye but not hi hi because um... it sounds improper? And English is one of those languages where things have to sound right when spoken? o3o

I don't know who 'we' are because I say one bye and one hi XD but i guess it just sounds cuter to say bye bye and not so cute to say hi hi

'bye bye'. By- someone going somewhere

2 bys- 2 people/more going somewhere.

2 people communicating and going some where different- 2 bys.

By- someone going somewhere

Well Hi hi just sounds weird :b Idk how bye bye sounds any better but its one of those society things like how we say BOO YAH instead of YAH BOO its society so its weird:b thats my answere

We say bye bye because it's uncertain when we'll meet that person again.  On the other hand, we only say hi because the story is just beginning :D!
