The cat would land on its feet and then roll on its back.

If you placed buttered bread on top of a cat... I think the bread would fly off the cat in mid air (cause they do all that twisting to land upright) and the cat would land on its feet, as per usual... But it would land on top of the bread, slip, and fall on its face. ;o

If a cat always lands on its feet, and buttered bread always lands
butter side down, what would happen if you placed buttered bread on top of a cat?

I think the cat would land on its side, neither of them can land on their feet/butter so in the middle is the side of the cat and crust of the bread. Side landing.

No one ever said anything about the cat being thrown out the window. So likely the bread would just fall off the cat, butter side down.

if you properly secured it onto the cat, assuming the bread is butter side down on the cat's back then threw it out the window, the cat lands on its feet.

Butter side up on cat, throw cat out window, the cat should levitate.

If the bread was on the cat I think it would spin as it fell
if it landed on the butter side it would instantly roll back onto its feet and if it landed with its feet it would roll on its back

Because both the cat and the buttered bread would fight for dominance upon landing on their favored sides, instead of either actually landing, it would produce an effect similar to that of anti-gravity, they would continuously spin, therefore being called the Buttered Cat Paradox.

-Thank you so much for having this contest!

Hmm I say the cat would still land on its feet but the force of the buttered bread would make the cat roll over onto its back after.

Trick question: you did not specify if you actually threw or let the cat go in the air.
So the cat would just sit there and be hella confused as to why you tied bread to its back.
Probably whine and try to get it off too.
And if you did throw it, it would forever gravitate in circles cause it cant land in any side. Congratulations you got yourself a source of unlimited energy :O!

The cat would spin in mid-air until you introduced a dog into the mix, who would promptly wolf down the bread, allowing the cat to land.

The cat and the buttered bread would be sucked into a black hole because it's basically dividing by zero xD

The coolest fusion in the history of fusion! Ultimately resulting in a new specie called Bucatterian.  When falling it would always land slightly slanted (to be precise, 42.78 degree).

Well, from the weight of the butter,
and the feet of a cat..I say the cat would twist around,
and will try to land on its feet,
even though its slippery with butter,
but the weight will make it topple over..and slip down the hallway
into the wall.
