If you are going by down referring to gravity, then down. If not, then technically earth is at an angle so neither, but overall it'd be up

(but I dunno. If you dig up, you'd be digging, but if you dig down, you're also digging. IT DEPENDS WHICH WAY YOU'RE LOOKING.)
