Well she HAD friends. She was hanging out with all of them in the toy aisle before someone went and kidnapped her and dragged her away to have her hair cut and marker-ed all over by a five-year-old who's probably going to play with her for a few days before tossing her under the bed. Because she associates popularity with money and high social status, instead of paying attention to the things that really matter, like kindness and happiness, she tries to fill that void with money and finding other people that associate their high class and popularity with money. Until the day she graduates from high school and Barbie goes to college, she realizes that maybe her and Ken can't continue to be the high school sweethearts they are. It's a big world, and college no longer seems to pay attention to stereotypes and cliques like you do in high school. No one seems as interested in her like they once did. Her petite body isn't the only body type men admire, and she realizes in horror, that she feels this unexplainable void. in a fit of depression, she wonders where she belongs exactly and decides to take a semester off of college and backpack around Europe. Here, hopefully, she thinks to herself with her trademark smile, her teeth sparkling, she will find who she really is.
