While I was working on my bios today, I happened to think up a few questions that seem kind of important to me. I was originally going to rmail you, but I figured that someone else might need to know this stuff as well. I've read the first post a couple of times, but let me know if I somehow happened to miss something already posted.

Question 1: Is there a word limit for the bios or entries?

Question 2: I know you pointed out earlier some of the stuff about your verams we need to know, however is there anything we ought to know about Dionia?

Question 3: Is writer participation permitted in the artist round? (Meaning can writers draw something for it if they so choose)

Question 4: I know you kind of gave us free reign with the prompt, but is there any general canon hosting place (ex. a stadium, a coliseum, etc.) that has been chosen?

Question 5: Will there be a list of the competitors posted?

Question 6: Are we allowed to display our story entries or auditions in other places, such as our pet pages? Also, will the writing entries officially be posted anywhere?

EDIT: @ Diamondwing: I'm not so great at coding and your pet page may just be glitchy, but did you try putting the line break code (<b.r> without the period) in between your lines? It should break up the paragraphs for you.

Does the tournament have official colors? Mine that I am using are blue, gold, and a swirl of trance colors.

By the way Shao can I mention your character in my story?

Thanks Shao!

The Great Rescreatu Tournament: The Opening Ceremonies

Iris walked sown the empty street in Adagu city. The rows and rows of houses and buildings were all a steady, monotonous gray. The cement under her feet was cracked and crumbling. This place definitely needed some excitement. Suddenly she noticed a pair of eyes glowing in the shadow of a skyscraper in the afternoon light. She tried to ignore them, it was probably just a stray chimby or something. Perhaps even a mutant. But she couldn’t worry about that now. She was already very busy, and needed to get home.

But her creatu, a black vogar named Hurricane, noticed the eyes too. He began to make short yipping sounds that were halfway between a bark and a roar. Quite out of the ordinary; he rarely made that sound. Iris began to grow nervous, perspiring down her neck. She yanked on Hurricane’s leash. “No! No barking! What, is, wrong, with, you?” Hurricane had begun to jump up, pulling on the leash, all the while making the barking sound and showing his claws.

Iris saw the shadow move. She began to pull Hurricane along more urgently now, what if the thing in the shadows was a berrok? What if he seriously injured her already crippled Hurricane? But Hurricane was pulling harder now, yet his slightly bent leg stopped him from dragging Iris behind him. Iris finally got him under control with lots of strength and lots of, “No! No, no, no, no, no!”

As they walked down the street, Iris kept glancing behind her shoulder. Right before they turned the corner, Iris noticed that the eyes were gone. Terrified, she began to run back to her house. She didn’t dare glance behind her now, it might slow her down. She was beginning to get to the edge of the city. They buildings began to grow in color and shrink in size. She turned onto her street, Windridge Rd., and practically dragged Hurricane behind her. One house, two houses, three houses, the fourth house. She turned left onto the driveway of her red-brick condo, with a white roof.

She pulled her keys out of her pocket and stuck them into the keyhole. She turned right and pulled it out. She pulled open the door, led Hurricane inside, and stepped in after him. She turned around and locked the door. She took off her shoes and Hurricane’s leash, and walked barefoot across the white tile floor of her kitchen to the window. She still felt like she was being watched. She peered out. There, still in the shadows, was that same pair of eyes. Iris quickly closed the curtains.

“Don’t you want to see what it is?” Hurricane asked. Iris jumped. She realized he had gotten older, but so far had not spoken. He smiled, which to Iris looked like he was baring his teeth. Iris sighed. It looked like she was going to have to face the owner of the pair of eyes eventually. She slowly unlocked the door and opened it. “After you.” she said, gesturing for Hurricane to walk out the door. He began to strut outside, still wearing that toothy smile. Iris shook her head and followed him.

Hurricane padded into the middle of the yard and stared at the eyes, now in the shadow’s of the bushes lining the driveway. The eyes narrowed, but then the leaves around them rustled. Iris held her breath. Out of the bush, as sleek and stealthily as a cat, crept a magenta veram. She was clearly an adult, and she stretched her wide wings out as she spoke, “My name is Anthousa, and my owner Pyro has a letter for you.” Iris looked down as the veram reached down with her paw into a pouch strapped to her chest and pulled out a large envelope with a fancy seal.

Anthousa put it in her mouth and flew up to Iris’ shoulder. She spat it out in Iris’ hands, and immediately started hacking. “Tastes -haaack- tastes like glue…” Hurricane stared menacingly at Anthousa, as if trying to predict her next move. Iris glared at him and opened the letter.

ript">ript">Hello! Welcome! Bonjour! YOU have been invited to the first modern annual Great Rescreatu Tournament!

I hope you have trained your creatu well, because they will need the highest stamina for this tournament.

ript">ript">Everyone from all walks of life are invited to join in for the chance of riches and fame in this ancient but new game! Join in at Adagu City on December 4th 2020 for the Tournament's opening ceremonies!"

ript">ript">

ript">ript">

Iris looked back up at Anthousa. The bright pink veram nodded. “December fourth. Whenever you’re ready. The opening ceremonies won’t start until everyone’s there.” Iris smiled at her. “Thank you. Go home and tell your owner that we will definitely be there, as soon as possible.” Anthousa gave a smile not unlike Hurricanes, and flew off into the sunset. “See you soon.” Hurricane whispered as she flew by him, with a menacing tone in his voice. Iris looked back down at the letter. December fourth! She needed to train Hurricane quickly!

She looked down at him. “Get a good night’s sleep, you’ll need it.” she said, walking back inside. Hurricane sighed and followed behind her reluctantly.

Over the next two months, Iris and Hurricane trained vigorously. By the end of each day, Hurricane’s legs ached and Iris’ throat burned from yelling. But they did not stop, and each day they progressed or learned a new skill, they went out to Penny’s for ice cream. When the day before the opening ceremony arrived, Hurricane was hoping for a rest, or a scoop of ice cream. But Iris made him do what felt like a entire day’s exercise that morning. After a lunch of chicken legs however, they did go to Penny’s and Hurricane enjoyed playing with Misty almost as much as he enjoyed the snow cone Penny had offered him.

That night they slept in late, even though they had gone to sleep early. When Iris finally woke up at 10 o’clock, it took her barely 10 minutes for her to wake up Hurricane, get dressed, and make breakfast. They were busy eating their cooked Relcore berries when they heard the cheering. It seemed to be coming from a coliseum-like building down the street. At that precise moment the doorbell rang. They quickly finished their berries and went to see who it was.

When Iris opened the door, there was a flash of magenta, and there was a letter on the doorstep. Hurricane nudged it, sniffed it, and picked it up in his mouth and handed it to Iris. Iris wiped the slobber off the envelope with her shirt and opened the seal, the same golden one that Anthousa’s letter had had. There was a simple letter inside:

The Great Relcorian Coliseum.

Iris dropped the envelope absentmindedly and exclaimed, “Let the games begin!” Hurricane jumped and stared up at her. She smiled down at him and began to run down the street. Hurricane stood there, in shock, but then shook his head and sprinted off after her.

His claws made a clacking sound on the pavement as he stumbled, right at Iris’ heels. Iris was so exited her brain clouded. All she knew was, I have trained Hurricane. No need to worry, I trained him. We will win. Glory and fame! Riches and prizes! These words swam through her head like a never-ending train, going passed at high speed. They turned a corner, down another street( Relcorian Lane ), and stopped in front of a large coliseum that took up an entire block. The building was painted in modern colors, in Gold, Blue, and a Trance pattern that caught many passerby’s eye. Apparently these were the tournament colors.

Iris gulped and started down the lane that led up to the doors. The day was sunny and fair, and not a cloud in sight. The trees rustled from a light breeze. It was a perfect day, yet Hurricane was shivering despite the warm sun directly overhead. Why him, why did he have to be the one to compete? Because Iris wants you to he said in his mind. Then he thought a moment. Because I want to. He and Iris reached the doors. She pulled them open…

A blast of cold air hit them. The corridor beyond was bright azure blue, even the floor. A ticket booth stood off to the right. As they walked by it the man running it eyed them suspiciously. A open door led out into the stadium of the coliseum. When Iris and Hurricane walked through it a security guard with a mutant chimby on his shoulder stopped her. “Name?” he asked, with a tone in his voice that suggested he did not want to be there. “Iris Diamondscale. And this is Hurricane.” she said, gesturing to Hurricane. The security guard checked a clipboard he was holding. Then he gestured to his chimby. The mutant jumped onto Iris‘ shoulder and sniffed deeply, apparently able to sense weapons or explosives with just it‘s nose. “You’re in.” He said, pointing to a line of people and their creatu standing in a line at one end of the field. The chimby crawled back to his owner and Iris and Hurricane walked off.

When they reached the line of contestants, a few giving Iris smiles and waves, which Iris returned hesitantly, yet most giving her the evil-eye, which she also returned. “Man, this looks like some tough competition.” Hurricane growled in a low voice. Glancing down the line, Iris realized he was right. Many of the creatu, of all species, looked muscle-bound and had a determined look in their eye. Hurricane scuffed his claws into the dust nervously. Just then, a horn sounded, and onto a platform on the other side of the field, up at the tops of the seats, appeared a short-haired woman followed by two other judges.

The judges images were projected onto a screen above their heads by some hidden camera. Then the middle one spoke. “I am Pyro Barden, and Welcome all to the first modern annual Great Rescreatu Tournament!” her short, curly, mousy brown hair swayed back and forth over her red jacket and khaki pants as she swept her eyes over the line of contestants and cheering crowd. She continued, “ I would like you to meet our mascot, Dionia!” she gestured to a lemon jahra that had taken a seat in a chair in front of a plaque that read the name Dionia. Anthousa flew out behind her and sat in front of her name, and she was followed by a orchid veram, who was a little smaller and sat in front of the name Aiyanna.

Then Pyro went through a speech, and introduced the judges and contestants. One judge in particular seemed to be the only one who really meant business. Her name was Cyclone Beta, and next to her stood a adult cream Ulius Pyro introduced as Owlie. He whispered into his owner’s ear occasionally, and Cyclone replied with another murmur. Hurricane knew this was the judge he would have to look out for.

Iris was listening intently to Pyro, who’s voice continued to blare out through the speakers connected to the microphone. Hurricane eyed the other creatu. It would be hard for him not to maim the other creatu with his fierce desire to help Iris win. Iris, meanwhile, knew it would be hard for her to control Hurricane. “You must be on your best behavior.” she whispered to him. He nodded, a small nod that told Iris he wasn’t really listening. She sighed.

Pyro announced that, for a grand opening that “Was to be truly grand,” she told her verams to pass out bags of confetti to all the flying creatu. They did, and when they returned to her with their own bags, Pyro shouted, “Go!” and all the flying creatu flew into the air and showered it over all the other people and their creatus. Cries, growls, and barks rang throughout the coliseum, as the contestants ran after their creatu or shouted to them as they flew above. Hurricane was one of the few vogars that started in a rowdy game of tag, in which they nipped each other’s tails to tag the other.

They continued on like this all day, with some other festivities, including a tour of the Prize Room, and at sunset the crowds cleared, and dinner was served. Then kind butlers the coliseum had hired for the occasion showed the contestants to their rooms in the next-door hotel. Iris insisted she didn’t need a room, she lived down the street. But then the butler told her it was a requirement of the tournament, and Iris and Hurricane were quick to accept.

Their room was a hazy green, and the bed was nicely done in the tournament colors. There was a large oak wardrobe in which Iris stored the clothes she had quickly run home to get, and a T.V. inside the bottom cabinet. As Iris changed into her pajamas, with the T.V. on channel Six( Atquati Creatu 101), and Hurricane curled up at the foot of the bed, she exclaimed, “That was some Opening Ceremony, right?” Hurricane grunted. Iris got into bed with her feet resting next to him. “Can’t wait for the first round.” She said, thinking of the Prize Room, where they kept all the prizes, including a Trance Shaefu. Hurricane did not say anything, he was already asleep.

Sorry It's so long. My opening ceremonies story, a sample of my writing.

@Dorcell:
Question 1: No.
Question 2: At first, everything about Dionia will be up to the writer, but as I put down prompts, and when I get done with all of their pet pages, there will be more about her personality, as well as the two verams.
Question 3: If you so wish to, then yes. Anyone can enter the bonus round, but no stories will be accepted into the art bonus round, only short comics and other art.
Question 4: There will be later, but for the auditions, all you need to know is that the grand opening ceremonies can take place anywhere you so wish in Relcore.
Question 5: Yes, there will be a list of everyone who made it through the audition phase posted the first week of November. :)
Question 6: Yes, it is your work, therefore, you are able to post it ANYWHERE you like. Just remember to give the site it's dues and credit res for the creatu and all if you post it off-site. And no, as far as I know, it won't be, but that could change. If I decide to change that though, I will announce it and ask anyone if they want me not to put up theirs. (I was actually thinking about possibly doing a little bonus thing for the two first place winners with a real life prize, but it's just a thought...)

Edit: ... posted it without the other questions... sorry!

I haven't finished my audition, however I have finished my bios if anyone would be interested in reading them. They can be found at

Hopefully they describe my characters well enough. That character limit is a killer. I'm also quite interested in seeing anyone elses characters or auditions if they're finished with them. ^^

Cascadian: Either one. It doesn't matter to me, but it might be nice if when the competition starts, to see who you're up against.

Diamond: Yes, you have until the end of the audition period to change anything. All changes must be made by the end of the audition period though.

Can the bios not be on the pet pages? ._. it's pissing me off. I've had to re-type everything for the nth time and it's not even okay yet. the word limit is kind of annoying and difficult because we have to do 2 different characters.

*is in pain*

Character limit, actually. The limit is 15,000 characters on a pet page. It gave me trouble too.
