Black Wolf

The life of a wolf is so black

Disgraced by others

 seeking what they lack

Others think them less than kin

Less a blessing than a sin

A gun shot sounds

The game plan lost

A dead son or daughter

The untimely cost

Hunting is a deadly part

A howl, a nip, a bitter bark

And the price to pay is a broken rip

And a slowly dying heart

On birthing day

Fourtane is hurled

Destinies are altered ... swirled

The whimper of helpless, newborn life

The air cold and cutting as a knife

So with all the brutal pains and deaths

For each last is a first breath

So if pups and hunts and love -

Such miracles among the pack -

continue on throughout their days,

perhaps wolves' lives don't have to be so...

black.

 Everyone has wonderful poems! It will be hard deciding who wins. ^.^

This may not seem to be a happy poem, but note the ending paragraph - the main message is hope through hard times. :3

Christmas Present

The flashing lights

The cold winter bites

I feel warmth spread throughout my limbs

Even in this box ... so dim

Wrapped up in a Christmas bow

Hiding the digust, the filth - how low.

Buying such a helpless pet

For someone who could not care less

Typical story - out in the gutter

Wrapped in bows, coldness; I shudder

Cars splash by, filled with Christmas banter

Why can't I be rescued by Blitzen and Prancer?

Visions run through my unscarred brain

My crunched up bones - I rather be slain.

I curl up in the cold, cold frost

feeling life ebb away - my death is no loss.

 ___________

1 Year Later

_____________

I tear up bows and wrapping paper

I am no longer a Christmas caper

A muddled mutt with a purebred heart

The childrens' hugs are the best part

 Of this Christmas morning, blanketed with snow

 No longer am I wrapped in a soggy bow.

In my new home, I worship the good

The mighty Christ and my new owners who could

Have left me on that curb that day

But now in this new bed I lay

With cheer in my mind and smells in the air

My doggedness senses the real pleasure - care.

MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!!

Morning Alignment

When I first rouse from sleep
each morning, I wake up
and see light for the first time,
like emerging from the womb.

Each morning, when I wake up,
robins' voices pry my eyes open.
Like emerging from the womb,
I'm not yet in alignment with the world.

Robins' voices pry my eyes open,
singing to the bright morning sun.
I'm yet not in alignment with the world;
things are too bright, too fast.

Singing to the bright morning sun...
It's a little too much for me,
when things are too bright, too fast,
too much noise before I'm ready.

It's a little too much for me,
the sensory sensitivity and overload,
too much noise before I'm ready
to greet the day characteristically.

The sensory sensitivity and overload,
like an extrovert up and ready
to greet the day characteristically,
is just not my idea of "good morning."

Unlike an extrovert up and ready,
I'd rather stir slowly and in silence.
My idea of "good morning" is just
my mother's quiet voice and soft hug,

when I first rouse from sleep.

I have tons of poems.

~Fate~

Fate held in hands,
Asking for a dance.
May or may not to be,
To dance with me.
Fate held in hands,
Asking me to dance

~~~~
~Dark light~
As the night takes me away to another place,
I keep ahold of the Dark light that holds me.
As I hold the dark light,
It shoves me.
Once loved,
One found at a bound.
The Dark light takes me home
When I come home from school each day,
My Momma brews this potion,
It tastes and smells like heaven,
But even better still,
The potion that she brews,
Fills you with a feeling,
A warm feeling inside,
Spreading from your heart to your toes,
Your fingertips start to tingle,
And this potion that she brews,
Is absolutely lush,
Cos my Momma's name is Cocamama*,
And the bottle's labelled 'Happiness'.
This isn't a romance by the way, it's about laughter and jokes. ;D
Those Jokes of Yours
~~~

I can't stop laughing,

It's all too much.

Each word flies out out of your mouth,

And I laugh harder.

Your jokes make me laugh nonstop,

I can't breath.

Is my face red?

I laugh too much.

You're so funny,

I need a break.

Oh no,

There you go again.

More jokes,

I'm still laughing.

You're so funny,

I can't stop laughing.

Don't read my sig. I said, don't read my sig. You're still reading it, aren't you? .......... STOP READING IT. D:<

Non-romantic poetry -my specialty! I wrote this specifically for this contest. I doubt I'll win but I hadn't written any in a while and this was a good excuse. :)

Song of a Tree

 Deep in the white wintery desert it stands

silent and alone but for its stolid rock companion

monochrome world untouched by color

save the ginger dusting of squirrels and feathered friends

 Someday, always sooner than you imagine, it will awaken

vibrant leaves will whisper amongst themselves in an ocean of green

children will play and tumble about at its roots

finding ruby red strawberries more precious than gems

 Many seasons it has stood and watched, a silent sentinel

many more it will see, keeping quiet record within its earthen heart

while its branches twine upwards towards the sky

cyan and azure, white luminaries and fluffy dreams greeting the warm soft wood

Two choices once of which i stood,

to choose them both i wish i could.

My aspirtation for another day,

was to come back and travel by that way.

I chose my path although both fair

both of them pleading for my wear.

The choice i made, against my appeal,

came to show a grim reveal.

Now stiff and still, i lay in dark,

the quietude of my broken heart.

The traquil change from living to deseased

brings within an eternal peace.

My choices made the diference.

--- A poem about how choices can bring you up and give you a good life, or they can take you down and deprive you of your life-----

Lut cant write very well, but she will try for the name tag :0
She was influenced by one of her dreams, she has lots of dreams,
and she has it on her blog too. She hopes her haiku isnt terrible.

Planting mango trees
Within one of many dreams
Sweet melancholy

Awake in the morning
To a room dark and freezing
Clear gla.ss stares at me

Standing on old wood
A glance to the fuchsia walls
Birds are calling me

Knowing I should leave
Few steps to the door I walk
A chill down the spine

Clinging to the dream
Planting mango trees I am
Sweet melancholy

EDIT: Oh darn >:I Cas told me a fib, its supposed to be happy, I cant write happy poems, would you like me to delete this post? >_>

Yesterday I met this thing

Whilst walking home from school

It said to me that it was king

Of a wondrous land so far away

Where the trees are pink,

And houses clay,

The gra.ss is blue,

And splattered with dew.

The sea red!

And I said,

"What rubbish! You silly thing!

There's no such place, why,

I've been to been to every place of earth

(which is not true, of course)

And there's no country like this!"

And it replied,

"Of course there is!

But it's not a country,

Nor is it on earth!

I've lived there all my life, and now

I thought I'd take a holiday.

And guess what?

When I came here I thought -

I never new such a place exsisted!"

 Learning to Fly
Wings outstretched she totters
Upon edges of despair
Miles above the starlit clouds
To fill the barren air.
Myriads of horses storm
her heart,
Amplifying fear.

A breeze ruffles her feathers
Her tail whips her sides
Her mother is behind her
Encouraging her to fly

Siblings screech and call to her
Wind making them lithe
Towards the ground they never plundered
But to stay grounded seemed just fine
A beak pecks her hindquarters
The griffin screams her fright
Her mother heaves behind her
And pushes her towards the light

Air rushes through her senses
Wings stay useless at her sides
The treetops come nearer
And the griffin closes her eyes
Her wings, a sail to a mighty ship
Billows towards the sky
A downward spiral quickly turns
Into an awkward flight

It takes a second to reach her bearings
Her hind paws brush the trees
One mighty swoop of her wings-
The griffin flies with ease.
A breeze comes a blowing
She fills her lungs with life
The sky is freedom and lustful needs
In a rush of silver moonlight.
