Halloween isn't a big deal where I live, only the caucasians
and those who live in their neighbourhood celebrate it. >w>

Like Karma, I've never carved a pumpkin in my life. Haha!

Good luck to those who enter though~ c:

Can you submit more than one picture of the pumpkin to show the different sides?  Or maybe one in the light, and one in the dark with a candle inside.

Guh. Can't carve pumpkins. >n> Mother says I'm not allowed within 100 feet of any kind of knife. And plus, where would I get a full sized pumpkin? xD
But, good luck to the participants- this sounds like an awesome event. :D

@ thenombersoo the answer to that question is in the Questions and answers post.

@ Blixii they sell pumpkin carving kits with a scoop and a child proof knife that works awesome.  I let my 2 year old use it.

Goddesss: Do they sell those in Japan too?^^; Never seen a pumpkin bigger than 15 cm here. And they are not ever orange but green/grey :/.

Good luck to anyone who enters, though^^

I have never been to Japan so I am not sure.  I did look online and amazon sells something similar and does ship to Japan.  The knifes I let my kids use are actually a child safety knife sold by a kitchen supply company I used to work for.  The ones in pumpkin kits are a lot like them just serrated on both sides.

A Kabocha would be ok to use for this as it is a pumpkin in Japan.  There is no requirements for size or color.  This contest is about having fun and being creative.

Questions to here have been answer on the first page.

but i havent even seen a real pumpkin. o___o Like.. ever.

Only in food cans. ...in pieces. ._.

Like someone said earlier, can we make the pumpkin somehow? :/

I'd love to join though, carving is fun ^^'

Different options are being discussed by staff to consider those who are unable to buy pumpkins.

What are some of the alternatives you guys can think of?

..Um

Not many vegetables here could be same kind of material than pumpkin..
*thinks about carrots* .. wait. No. They are too small. >I

If i'd carve some modelling clay or normal clay, it would be too easy.. ;I

Mmm, watermelons, honeydews, cantaloupes?
I'm not sure how those would work out with carving and all,
but they're probably large enough and have a thick skin.

...Oranges might be fun. xD

Oh the watermelon sounds.. neat!

I think it could be possible. They do have thick skin.. i think? o uo

Though, i bet if i ask my mom to buy a watermelon, it'll go like..

...

Mom - "Okay, imma go buy you some slices."
Me - "No no! I need whole one."
Mom - ".. Where do you need whole one? You cant eat it all."
Me - "Im going to empty it and then carve on it. We dont have pumpkins and i'd like to join this one contest.."
Mom - "NO. YOU'RE NOT GOING TO MESS IN MAH KITCHEN. NOW GET OUT. >I"

Sounds fun! Do you have to use real pumpkins, or can you use the carveable fake kind you can get a craft stores?

My mom is the best pumpkin carver ever. Can't take credit for her work anyway. But I would never be allowed to carve, and I suck at it anyway. I just stuck potato head pieces in a tiny one last year and put it on the porch. Good luck to everyone who's entering! c:
