Edward’s dark eyebrows knitted into a worried line as he listened to the younger girl speak, and placed a steadying hand on her shoulder. “It’s hurting you? Where?” He asked gently, but she seemed to take very little notice of him, and pulled away murmuring something under her breath. He followed her closely as she stumbled downstairs, concerned that she might trip and fall.

Maria hadn’t had the chance to do much cleaning in their absence, but she had managed to clean Ashley up a bit and was busying herself with trying to get dried blood off of the hardwood. She watched Rawsha and Edward approach with sympathy in her dark eyes. “Sweety, you look terrible. Why don’t you sit down for a little while?” She suggested gently. Maria wasn’t sure whether she had been heard or not, but within two minutes the girl had snuggled herself down next to Ashley and fallen asleep.

“You think it’s the silver getting to her?” Edward asked quietly, his voice plainly concerned. “I doubt it.” Maria answered with a small shake of her head, rinsing off her cloth and moving to Rawsha’s side so that she could carefully wash the blood from her hands and face. “She’s probably in shock. Angel pequeño pobre…this really has been a trying day for her…I tried Prosper’s cell and found it ringing in his study. He didn’t take it with him.” “Damn.” Edward muttered darkly. “So now what?” “The worst is over.” The young woman explained briskly as she gathered up her bowl of red-stained water and started toward the kitchen. “We just need to wait for him to come back.”

Rawsha slowly opened her eyes and awoke from her black dreamless sleep she looed around,everything was dark.She looked over at ashley still asleep she eyes filled with tears and she hugged him close putting her face into his unhurt shoulder."please,please wake up"she whispered her voice shaking with sadness and sobs."i n-n-need you"She closed her eyes siting in darkness

"Shhhh, Rawsha it's okay." A gentle voice whispered in the still living room. A strong, warm hand closed around her own, and a pair of misty eyes glistened colorlessly in the pale moonlight. Ashley shifted his weight carefully to free his other arm, slipping it around the girl's shoulders and pulling her against his chest. "I'm okay, see?" He smiled into her hair, squeezing her briefly to prove that his shoulder wasn't hurting him.

It seemed that Edward had not been exaggerating when he had suggested that a werewolf could shrug off a bullet wound. Ashley may have looked rather gory and ragged, but there was no longer a wound beneath the dried blood on his shoulder."It's alright." He murmured, rocking her gently back and forth. "I'm still here, see? Everything is okay."

"Yeah...sorry y'had to see that." He murmured, hugging her tightly. "I guess sometimes we forget how different we are...I mean, we're so used to blood and stuff...just don't worry about me, okay?" He wished that he could have *censored*ured her that he would never bite her, but it just wasn't the sort of promise he could make. The full moon did strange things to a shapeshifter's mind

When she kissed him for the second, Ashley hesitated briefly -barely a half second- before pulling away. "Don't." He told her gently, pulling her head against his chest and laying his cheek on top of her hair. "I'm not human Rawsha. I...there are rules. I can't." It was obvious in how tightly he was holding her that he wanted to, but something important was stopping him. "Thank you though." He added quietly. "I owe you my life."
