[[ Happy Easter~ ]]

Ariskye stopped suddenly, a hand going to her concealed weapons as a scent not human filled her nose. He head tilted and she breathed it in as she attempting to figure out what it was exactly. The scent was different, the stale scent of shadows and a tingle of magic. She frowned. Shadows? Now that didn't make any sense. The only creature she knew that could control shadows were the Nibiru; her own species of demon. But then, Nibiru could sense each other and this... creature... was not.

Then what was it.

Hissing softly, she lowered her hand back to her side. With her crimson eyes blazing and the shadows feeling her frustration coiling around her feet, Ariskye continued walking. Hopefully this being will follow her so she can figure out who the f*ck it is.

Intrigued, Sam latched onto the scent with his enhanced senses and sped through the crowd.  He made no attempt to fit in with the mortals now--gold eyes flashing, long legs speeding through the river of people as if he really were made of water, Gossamer was sure that he made quite the sight.  People parted for him as easily as if he had cast a spell on them, eyes lingering wonderingly on his pale face and predatory features.
Every now and then he would flash a psychotic grin, but the true madness within him had been at bay all night--a rare occurrence.  He wondered if it had something to do with the intense focus that had been with him all night, the driving need to get a clue about this legendary Excalibur.
And now his focus had shifted to something else, another mystery.  He could sense he was growing closer to the other demon, but he hadn't sighted them yet.  He couldn't tell from the scent whether his query was male or female.  The scent was altogether new to Sam, exotic and enticing.
And he would get to the bottom of it.

It was getting closer.

She could tell by it scent.

With the slightest tilt of her head, Ariskye slipped down a back alley and bolted. It felt like the shadows gave wings to her feet as she sped through the less-visited parts of the city. Finally, she ended up at a dead end. With a shrug, she turned towards where she had came and leaned against the wall. At least if the being was hostile, she could go demon and not have to worry about terrified cityfolk running and screaming around them.

Sam caught a flash of movement and smelled in the wind stirred up by the disturbance the demon.  They were on the move.
Few people probably noticed as the tall, pale man who waved an elegant hand and sent what appeared to be shadows running out of the creatures.  He doubted anyone saw him as he ducked into an alley, gathered the darkness to him, and shifted into a larger than average alley cat, with a coat of midnight and eyes like the sun.  He darted and dashed his way much more quickly through the London night on four legs than he did two, since this smaller form could slip easily among crowds.  His nose and the shadows ahead of him led him for a ways, until he caught up with his dark messengers at the beginning of an alley.
He saw a girl there, and knew her to be the demon he had sensed by the red in her eyes.  He approached her as he shifted, pale skin covering the black fur just in time for Gossamer to come to a halt in front of her.
"Lovely evening, isn't it?" he commented wryly as way of greeting.  His eyes scanned her, noting the position that seemed relaxed, but knew by the coiled tension in her posture that she was ready for everything.  Sam had not the slightest inkling if the demoness was dangerous or not, so he didn't dismiss his shadow-creatures yet.  They could bite.

Ariskye cocked a brow. Was this... guy for real? She snorted as pushed herself off the wall and offered him a fanged grin. "Lovely evening? This place is god-awful so you must be pulling something," she said as she started to pace in front of him. Her instincts were telling her to fight this demon male. But the tingle of magic that surrounded him made her watch and wait. Though, she had to ask just one more question.

"What are you? Only my kind can bend the shadows to their will, or so my father told me," Ariskye asked as she flicked her blazing crimson orbs to the shadow creatures that gathered around this male. A very low growl rumbled deep in her throat.

Sam laughed, and eerie and unsettling sound.  He grinned at the girl as he asked, "A bit forward, aren't we?  But if you must know," he said with a melodramatic sigh, "I'm a shadow-shifter.  Though if you don't mind my asking, what exactly is 'your kind'?  I don't recognize your scent."
He didn't mention he also had wizard blood running through his veins, but he did gather the shadows more deeply around him, until his lower legs seemed to sink into darkness.  He watched the female carefully, ready for her to spring into action.  She seemed like the volatile sort, like himself, and he had to be prepared for anything.

A shadow-shifter?

The f*ck is that.

Her brows furrowed together. The left one tugging at the vicious scar that would be forever linked to her childhood. Reaching towards that telepathic powers, she linked with her father. 'Hey, old shadow dude. What is a shadow-shifter?' she asked as she felt her dad's reaction to being called an "old shadow dude." But it was the truth. Her dad was as ancient as the gods and goddesses in their pantheon.

After a few minutes, he rumbled back, 'They are an old race of demons. But they are children in the eyes of a Nibiru. Tread carefully, Shadowspawn. If you come across one of their spawn, do not take them lightly.' Then he was gone.

Thanks dad.

The question the male in front of her asked about "her kind" brought her back to reality as she remembered it. "I am part Nibiru, a race of shadow demons that was created by our Shadowed Gods at the beginning of time. At least, that is what my dad told me when I met him for the first time," she said.

Then, she noticed his shadow beasts come closer to him, embracing his legs until their disappeared. A snarl etched itself on her face and she stopped, spun, and lunged at him; the back of her jacket flaring out like wings. At the same time, her own control of the shadows made them into corporeal spikes that sent them off the walls to aim at the shadow creatures.

Ariskye wanted to attack him. Wanted to test the full range of his abilities since he came flaunting his when she did not. It just made her so angry.

"Get rid of your creatures and I'll disperse my spikes," she hissed.

"Hm...a Nibiru." Gossamer said slowly, enunciating each syllable carefully.  He stepped away from her spikes, eyes flashing with irritation at her flaunty display, but other than that, he showed no emotion.  "I do believe I've heard of your kind before," he continued even as he dispersed his shadows.  They went racing into the darkness of the alley, the nearest source of shade, but he didn't send them far.  He wasn't quite up to trusting this being yet.  "You are the first...Nibiru...I've encountered, though."
He looked around the alley, catching a pair of humans (or at least he assumed them to be...for now) walking in their direction.
With a slight nod towards the pair, he said, "My name is Gossamer Infirmatti.  Charmed to meet you.  If you will forgive my abruptness, but might we continue this conversation somewhere a bit more...private?  A local pub might do," he said.
Then the two "humans" drew their blades and began to run at them.
"Damn it," growled Sam.  "Demon hunters.  Should've known."  With a glance over at the demoness, he said, "Sorry.  This might get a bit messy."

Ariskye watched him send away his shadow creatures and she retracted the shadow spikes, relaxing just a hair. She flicked her nails slightly and replied; "Only the higher ups have the power to come to Earth from Malues. Those would be my dad and his six commanders." A shrug lifted one of her shoulders. "Oh, and their offspring can as well. But they are elsewhere."

The intruding "humans" made her eyes blaze, but they smelled off. They still smelled of human, but it was just... odd.

Gossamer? What an odd name. "Ariskye Siome. And why a pub? I've had quite enough of those for today. How about the hotel I am staying at? Much more... private and no drunks," she said with a slightly seductive smile.

But when the "humans" pulled out swords, the shadows around her screamed and she hissed, her form changing. She shrugged off his apology as quickly as she shifted. Tail swaying above the ground, talons spread, wings unfurled slightly, and back curved so she leaned over. A grin curved her lips, exposing her sharp teeth.

"It will get very messy," she agreeing, her voice demonic and harsh. Straightening her spine, she threw her head back in a roar before she sprang forward to attack the hunter on the right, leaving the left to Gossamer.

Sam sprang into action just as he said, "Yes, a hotel would be quite fine."
He felt a psychotic grin spread across his face, and suddenly all common sense vanished in a roar of madness.  The insanity pounced quickly, roaring over him like a riptide and dragging him under.
Blood.
It was everywhere.  On his hands, on the ground, pouring out of his victim's body.  The man had lacerations across his arms, legs, torso, face, and neck.  Everywhere, really.  He was moaning, and Sam couldn't figure out why until he dismissed the shadow-creature that had latched onto the hunter's face, driving him to the point of madness.
He shivered, finishing the job with a dagger he created from the darkness.  Then he set shadow-creatures upon the body, and it was gone within seconds.  As he wiped his hands clean, he wondered how long he had been out of it.  Long enough to seriously hurt the man--hopefully he hadn't done anything else.
A little unsettled, Sam back a little ways into the alley, like a child searching for his blanket, letting the shadows drape around him until Ariskye was finished.

Ariskye was a blur of black as she fought the hunter. A quick movement in the shadows before one of his arms fell off in a quick slashing motion; his blood suddenly everywhere. And soon, she became drunk of it. With another roar, Ariskye descended on him like she was Lucifer himself; hellbent on destruction.

She didn't know how long she'd been at it. But when she returned to a less blood-drunk state of mind, the demon hunter barely looked human. He was just a pile of... something at her talons. Circling around the remains, a spark of silver flames lit up her hands before the pile went up in the metallic fire; quickly burning it to ashes.

Unfurling her wings slightly to see if there was any damage, she found none and quickly reverted back to her human form. To find she was sticky and coated with the hunter's blood. With a sound of supreme disgust, she glanced towards Gossamer. Only to find him deep in the shadows. "Dude, can this talk wait until I am not covered in a hunter's blood?" she asked, a faint half-smile playing at her lips.

Sam smiled, despite his worries.  "I suppose so."  He paused for a moment, thoughtful.  Then made an offer that surprised even himself.  "You know, if the hotel you're staying at isn't to your liking, you're welcome to come and stay at my home.  I have several guests rooms made up.  Fellow demons ought to watch out for one another more often." He gestured to the demon-hunters' blood that remained on the cobblestones.  "Heaven--or perhaps hell?--knows there are only so many of us left.  Besides, I should like to learn more about the Nibiru.  I consider myself a fairly learned man, and the opportunity to learn about something entirely new does not appear very often."
Then he was off, walking down the street.  He didn't wait for her reply--he knew she would follow if she wanted to join him.

Ariskye cocked her head as she thought about his offer. While she liked the hotel, the staff would probably wonder about the blood and she didn't need that. Not tonight. With a small sigh, she nodded to accept his offer. "But I need a few things back in my room," she said. Like an extra set of clothes and other... things...

"And I will tell you what I know of the Nibiru. It is just not alot," Ariskye said with a shrug. Then, she narrowed her eyes slightly. "Do you have a nickname? 'Cause I ain't calling you 'Gossamer'."

[Well...trip got canceled, so I'm here to stay.]
Gossamer turned and considered the demoness with a slight smile.  "Sam.  You may call me Sam, if you wish."  He paused for a moment, thoughtful.  "If you'll excuse my rudeness, perhaps I can leave you to collect your things from your hotel, and you can meet me at my house?  I can prepare a hot meal for us and make sure everything is in proper order for a guest."  He conjured a small black cat from the shadows.  It had no real substance, of course, but it looked thoroughly realistic up until the moment you tried to touch it.  "This creature will lead you to my house."  He turned to go again, but stopped and looked back, wondering how far the Nibiru's trust would go.  "Unless, of course, you'd rather have me accompany you?"

Sam. Sounded nice. Still a bit old-fashioned, but oh well. A brow raised at his offer to collect her things from the hotel. That was kind of sweet, right? At least, in some f-ed up twisted sense Ariskye had, it seemed so. With a shrug, she glanced at the shadowed cat.

"Naw. I'd rather follow the cat. But do you know where I am staying at?" she asked.

[Sorry for the late post! :c Computer eated my last one, but I thought I had posted it for whatever reason. xD; ]

Sam shook his head.  "I don't, but my shadow creature will be happy to follow you to wherever you're staying.  It can finds its way to me wherever it is, so you won't be in danger of getting lost."
He smiled and inclined his head in a brief sort of farewell, knowing that they would meet each other again soon, and then he was off, walking briskly down the streets and into the rainy night.
There was much to be done.
[tle="" target="">Here is just a quick pic I pulled off of Google as a reference for what Sam's house looks like.  But the stone would be gray, and it would probably have gargoyles.  xD ]

Ariskye nodded once as he walked off. She would never get lost, but some guidance wouldn't be too much of a problem. With a shrug, she crouched down and ran a light hand through the shadow cat's fur. Its tail flicked with surprise before it butted its head against her knee. A smile curved her lips.

"Yes," she said, "I can touch you and you can touch me. Shadows also respond to my influence. Now, have you ever shadow-travelled?" The cat sat back and looked at her with swirling gold eyes before opening its mouth in a silent mew. The Nibiru demoness took that as a no. With a sigh, she stood up and ripped open a shadow.

It formed back together and started to rotate like the Milky Way Galaxy. The center was a very deep black. Ariskye turned towards the cat and motioned "After you." The cat sniffed it once before hopping through it; Ariskye following soon after.

The two reappeared in her hotel room. The cat went to go investigate the room and Ariskye set about to clean up her mess, repack everything, so she could go stay with Sam.

Sam sensed something strange, almost as if time had been warped, soon after he left Ariskye and his shadow-creature.  He hoped she wasn't doing anything terribly nasty to it--and while he sensed the demoness might have a bit of a temper, he refused to think she would do anything ill to an innocent shadow, especially seeing as they were her element as well.
He got home rather quickly thanks to a spell that worked rather like seven-league boots--he merely took a step, and traveled the span of a thousand.  Sam was at the gates of his rather grand "house"--really it was a manor--in exactly six and a half steps.  The place was cold and somewhat unfamiliar to him, but he had grown rather fond of it in the two and a half months or so that he had taken up residency there.  It had been a gift from him mother some years past, in an attempt to reconcile their lost relationship, before he had cut off all relations with her for good.  He sometimes wondered how she was doing, before he remembered that she had never cared how he had been until she had heard about her once-son who she had thrown out on the streets, turned into a wealthy and powerful demon-sorcerer.
He sighed and cleared all thought of that woman from his head.  He didn't need to worry about her right now--no, what Gossamer was really preoccupied with was the fact that he had so completely and utterly lost control that night with the appearance of blood.
He could still feel it in the back of his mind, lurking, as he unlocked the great wooden front doors and into the dark entrance hall.  I'm lucky to have been coherent this far, he thought as he turned the lights on with the flick of a finger and a word muttered in Latin.  The light was for appearance, really--a shadow demon had no need for lights, but he wanted to make the place look hospitable for Ariskye.
A small girl had appeared at the base of the stairs, with the pale skin and white hair of an albino.  Sam smiled at her fondly.  "Lucia, darling, do go and get some dinner started?  We'll be having a guest tonight."
The girl looked at him.  "Company?" Sam didn't do anything but nod, already heading up the stairs to see that everything was in order to have company.  He heard the beginnings of Lucia's cooking begin downstairs, and smiled.  It had been a long night, and he was glad to be home.

Ariskye worked on making sure her sketch pads fit inside her backpack. Her clothes and toiletries were already packed in the two duffles on the hotel bed. But this backpack was starting to get on her nerves. With a snarl, her telekinetic abilities snapped into action. Everything came out and floated above her head.

The shadow cat batted at a stray pencil.

She smirked and returned everything back to the book bag. This time, everything fit perfectly. "Huzzah~" she purred as she slipped the backpack on. A few flecks of dried human blood flaked off and she cursed, but otherwise did nothing about it. Gathering up the duffle bags, she turned to the shadow cat.

"Ready?" she asked. The cat meowed silently and Ariskye smiled as she ripped open another shadow portal. Once it was open and swirling, the cat leaped through it. The Nibiru demoness followed.

The two reappeared in front of a large gray-stoned house. Her crimson eyes widened slightly. She whistled. Damn. Boy be rich. Well, so was she, but she preferred the term "independently wealthy." Without another thought, she bounded up to the front door and rapped her knuckles on the door.
