More or less. He saw the wolf trying to take me away, and did his best to stop him. This was how Vince found his power. He barked at the wolf and bit him. He instantly set fire to the spot. I got in the way. He never lets me out of his sight for long anymore, and anything that he loves, that has what he thinks is a threat against it, causes him to overreact. So that back there.....my fault.

I think he was planning on raising those of us he caught to do as he pleased. He planned on that being our sole purpose....we wouldn't have had a choice. I owe my life to Vince but....he was never the same...

Kylane looked down, she loved her brother dearly, but she didn't like it when he got in moods like todays.

It wasn't all you. I remember once, Kurano and I snuck away from the den, while Uncle Ouka and Medina were looking for Aurora, Kioko had been caught by humans, and Mom had....been shot. In the wing and shoulder. Maple was looking after her. Dad and Uncle Aeren were pursuing the humans. We snuck out, wanting to find Aurora on our own, but I got us lost...
He felt enourmously guilty at this part.
I am telling you, Uncle Ouka went crazy that day.

Kylane laughed a little.

I wouldn't feel bad about that. You guys were just pups. It would be bad if you didn't get lost at least once. And by Mom's stories, Ouka was always on edge anyway.

He got up and padded over to the river, sniffing the bankline.

He walked a few steps upriver, then stopped to wait for Kylane.

Kylane followed after Kirano, curious where he was headed to. She enjoyed walking by the stream loving the sound of its flow.

He stopped, and looked around.
This is the place. We took shelter under that bush.
He nosed the bush he was speaking of. It had seemed so big to him then, and now, it seemed so small.

Kylan nodded, nerves jumping up again. She pawed the ground, about as far from eager to get bck as was erthly possible.

He started running toward the cave, not waiting for a reply from Kylane.

Kylane laughed, bursting after him, catching him after a small distance. She had gotten good at races after years with her brother.
