"Your kidding... My brother will be staying with that man? No offence to him, but I wouldn't want that for my brother." He sighed and followed Dakota. He smiled when he felt the boy's sadness linger. "Hey, don't worry. I mean, we can always go visit her grave and I will be here if you need to talk to someone. Do you know if your uncle is a mean man to his servants? My brother has already been through so much sfuff. I mean, his parents dying and his sister beating him once.. Then being sent to auction." He sighed and looked around the quarters. It didn't look very pleasant. Especially since it smelled like livestock.

A bitter look cast upon Dakota's face.His heart dropped slightly at Kyin's comment.He wasnt too sure what to say with such sad news he had to bring.Taking a step out into the hall to be away from the slave qaurters,just the thought of it made him ill. Dakota's eyes became sympathetic and kind,still glassy from the sadness of his passed away love."you brother....is not going to be okay. Im often kept away from his servant but...after a week with my uncle most people that are his 'servants' arent the same,there souls almost seem to be broken." Dakota lightly touched Kyin's arm to try and comfort him. Smiling slightly at his kind gesture of visiting Natalie's grave. "i know what its like to loose everything you've had.To be stripped of hope and ridden of love. TO end up here."Even though he had only just me the boy he reached out and gave him a hug before quickly backing away. " ill try and do my best for your brother and i promise i will try and get both of you out of here" Dakota's look was twisted with sadness as he himself could never leave this reteched place. His soulful eyes looked to the fading orange light of day becoming night.The loud angry voice of his unlce echoed down the hall. "get down there you worthless peice of crap!" he screamed stomping down towards Dakota and Riku.

Riku stumbled down the stairs toward the slave quarters. He landed on his hands and knees. His breath was racing and shallow. He was shaking slightly but he refused to show too much emotion. He stood up and turned to his master. He didn't want this for his brother, so he took it upon himself.
Kyin's eyes widened at the sight of his brother. He gulped hard as he restrained himself from going to his brother. He wanted to hug his brother and hurt the man he called his master. He turned away from his brither and shut his eyes. He didn't want to see this. He didn't want thay.

Dakota's chest stung with sadness as saw Kyin in pain. Piercing blue eyes darted toward Riku and his Uncle. "Stop! just stop!" he screamed to his uncle. Dakota's voice crackled and shreiked with the volume of his voice as he ran to the awful man. His uncle's face boiled red with anger. "get back boy,how dare you talk to me like that!" Stepping forward the large man swinging his fist and slamming into Dakota's cheek.Tumbling to the floor he stuggled to catch himself on the stone floor.Looking up crimson liquid flowed from under his eyes dripping onto the floor,over come with pain.Trying to stand up he staggered.Dakota's uncle still angered "sleep in the slave qaurters tonight! you dont deserve a bed!"

"Please Master! Don't hit him please! He's a child!" He stood in front of Dakota, just in case the man was goingtogo at Dakota again. He didn't like it when people were beat or hurt in any way. He hated it. "Please don't make him sleep there. I will take any punishment for him. Please sir!"
Kyin ran to Dakota's side. He saw the blood dripping and quickly tore his shirt sleeve off. He placed it over Dakota's eye to guagrd it from any more blood getting in. He licked the sleeve and getly wiped away the crusting blood. He sat over Dakota, his back guarding him from any more advances. "Are you okay Young Master?"

Dakota looked up,his whole world hazey,though he could just make out Riku.Feeling admiration for the boy he barely met.Dakota let an arm out to touch Riku to show he was okay and too get his attention. "its okay....i deserve the punishment,Riku....its okay"His voice barely an audible whisper.His uncle screamed "get back slave!....you have no place here." His head turning to the wounded kid "as for you,boy....your staying here tonight and i dont want to see you!"Dakota's uncle finally stomped off by himself to his room". His eyes turned to kyin aiding him. He smiled through the pain "please,call me Dakota" Silence now swept through the damp dark place. "thank you,you dont have to do this...."He spoke to both of them,before standing up with all his strength stumbling over to Riku.Meeting his still pained eyes with his.Slowly his placed his hands ond Riku's necked gently.Unbuckling the disgusting collar he wore and pulling it off to throw on the floor. He smiled softly,his deep orbs hnest and sweet.

Riku looked at Dakota, he smiled slightly. "I'm sorry i couldn't get you out of sleeping in there.. And i suggest you don't take that off.. He'll get mad." He picked up the collar and held it. He couldn't keep it off. "Are you okay?"
Kyin stood up and hugged his brother. "Riku!! Oh god... Please tell me ur not hurt!" He kissed his brother and hugged him tightly. He hated seeing his brother hurt. He hugged his brother tighter. "Please tell me.."
riku smiled slightly and hugged his brother. "I'm fine.. Just a small bruise and cut hands. Sorry. But i'm fine for the most part."

Dakota held out his hands for the collar "its so wrong that he does that too you...you dont have to worry about keeping it on for the next hours...he goes to bed right about now" Dakota's head tilted to the cracks in the wall showing that it was now dark outside.Dakota turned away to give the brothers some room as he collected some hay and dry brush that was in the corneres of the dungeon. Placing them in a pile in the middle of the floor,he dug around his pocket for a lighter.FLickering a small orange lick of flame in the almost pitch black room.Lowering it to the dry heap it quickly went a blaze.Lighting the dark room and providing warmth as the dungeon became all most to hot.Dakota took off his shirt revealing his bare torso and lying the shirt on the ground he sat next to the fire watching the flames as it reflected on his eyes.Waiting for the brothers to come over.He wanted to get to know them in this odd situation to have private time to talk to them.

Riku unwrapped bis brother's arms and walked into the dungeons. He removed his shirt and laid it down next to Dakota, exposing his fit upper torso and the light pink scar that ran diagonally across his chest. He sat down and looked at the flames. The flames glossed his eyes.
Kyin walked over and removed his own shirt. He placed it on the other side of Dakota. He sat down and looked at Dakota. "Okay Dakota. Sorry. I didn't mean to be so formal." He smiled slightly.

Dakota looked over to Riku,he couldnt help but smile slightly at his body.Before quickly looking away.He would be completely embarrased if Riku noticed.Unsure of how he would react in the first place.Dakota looked to Kyin "its okay,just know im not your master. We are equal."Smiling to show he meant it completely. Wathing the bright orange flame light the room with a comforting glow.He decided to go out on a limb "mind if i ask about your lives?...i know we have all night and probably more time then that"He gulped unsure of what they would say in the first place. "i moved here about a year ago,my uncle took me in after my family died" Looking into the flames as he controlled the sadness of bringing them up.The pain of his past was still so raw,too raw.It was something he could never loose grip of...loming over him constantly with loneliness and depression.Closing his eyes he sighed calming himself down.

Riku looked at Dakota. "That's sad.. I'm sorry.. Well, i'm Kyin's half brother. His fathe had an affair with my mom. His mom never knew about it it until they were on their death beds. And well.. My whole family was killed off because of that. My father, his father, had me saved and brought me home. My step parents died. His eldest sister took ober. She never liked me. She made me her slave. But i disobeyed. She whipped me once." he plaved his hand on his scar. "I was sent to auction after that... Bought by him. And brought here."
Kyin looked at Dakota. "Well, mine is that i was born into a modern family. I was close to riku only because we were both babies when we met. And my oldest sister was very mean to him. We were both sent off to aucion when my parents died. And yeah. Now i'm here with Riku.." He sighed.

Dakota both looked at the sympathetically. "im so sorry,...i know what thats like.The pain of it alone. As for being here with my terrible uncle. I promise i will do my best to get you out of here.Until then i promise im here for you both if you need anything." He spoke seriously and kindly,they seemed like nice people,no one deserved to be here.Dakota felt the need to tell his story,prepared to be rejected by the people he jsut met for saying it. "i killed my family...they died in a car accident i caused. I was the only one who survived. I ruined the people i loved and who had loved me." He closed his eyes,crystal streams of tears ran silently down his hace as he looked blankly into the fire. "no one would take me in except my 'uncle' who i didnt meet until i came here. The things he has done to me in the year ive lived here. He took my very innocence away....Thats when natalie came,she....she saw something in me.She thought i was worth it....She was a slave here,just as broken as me,we understood eachother. I loved her more then life itself,before my uncle found out. Brutally killing her"Dakota looked down,the pain was too much to meet anyone in the eyes.Ashamed dakota wrapped his arms around him self.Now shaking with sobs. "im....sorry...im sorry,you didnt need to see this" Each word broken with a gasp of air.His sobs of so much pain,pain of too much expierence from a creul world Dakota knew of at such a young age.So shear it cut his soul in two.Moans of suffering echoed through the dungeon as he tried to contain himself. They slowly faded as Dakota regain his composure,so wishing he could be happy again.Searching for anything that made him forget.For even just a second.He put his head up.Looking at them,his sad perfect face red from crying. "im okay now...sorry for that" his voice was calm once more.

Riku and Kyin both wrapped their arms around the body, pressing him between them. They held his equally and gae him equal warmth.
Riku wiped the boy's cheek. "Hey, don't think you aren't worth it. Everyone deserves a chance at life and at happiness. Nobody really meed to be sad. And it's fine. I mean, I killed my family too.. It was because of my father's affair, well, Kyin's father's.. That my famiky was targeted.." He sighed.
Kyin looked at Dakota as Riku spoke. "Yeah.. I'm sory that happened to you Dakota. We won't leave you and we will be here for you. I donMt understand the pain, but you and Riku do. I'll be here to relay messages if you need to. I'm allowed to be with you. And as long as Riku is inthe house, i'll get to him." He smiled.

Dakota looked at Riku with understanding eyes and admiration for how good of a person he seemed to be how he was strong,something Dakota never was.Riku's arms around his=m made his heart race. Something inside of his so badly wanted to kiss Riku.He looked away quickly with guilt,knowing it was wrong.Then turing to Kyin "no,i cant let you guys go through all of this pain just for me...i will find a way to get you out of it,i promise. "kyin,thanks but im here for you too you know...if any of you need me like i said,ill be here and with the way my uncle is,i might be here for longer than just one night and for a long time,i dont feel so alone"

Riku smiled and puts his head on Dakota's shoulder. "Anyways, let's just get some rest.. I know my master will be awake and yelling at me probably." He took the collar and placed it back on his neck. He laid down on his shirt and looked at Dakota. "Wanna sleep over here? i can keeo u warm."
Kyin smiled and looked at Dakota. "Sleep with him. He'll keep u very warm." He smiled and laid down. He smiled slightly.

Dakota smiled and walked over to Riku,leaving his shirt on the ground.Slowly he layed down next to Riku.Wrapping his arms around him but still having space between them.He looked back towards the Fire and towards Kyin before closing his eyes,his heart racing.Dakota hadnt felt this way since natalie. His brain stpped dead in his tracks,natalie.Pausing for a second.Then for the first time he pushed the thought away and scooted closer to Riku.Opening his eyes again he studid Riku's features,it made him swoon on how handsome he was.He spoke softly,a bearly audible whispers "thanks"He could feel the warmth of the fire and the warmth from Riku.Being with Riku felt so right,a warm glow of happiness filled his chest.Even if he wasnt perfectly happy,the feeling,for even half a second of not being raw with sadness made him smile.Dakota lowerd one of his arms and reached out for Riku's hand to hold it.He knew he was going out on a limb but,it wasnt like he had anything to loose.Dakota had only one life to live and maybe for just once he should jsut tak a risk.

Riku held Dakota's hand in his. He was kind of happy to have the small body of warmth near him. Dakota actually made him feel happy. His heart jumped slightly, but he calmed it down. He didn't want to hurt Dakota or hurt himself because of this big leap. He smiled slightly and pulled Daktoa close to his chest. He wanted the boy closer to him and wanted to keep him this close. He felt like he needed to protected the boy. He hugged him tighter. Kyin smiled and curled up on his won shirt. He wanted to sleep but he knew he had to be aware of what he was doing. he yawned and fell asleep. |
