Annie glanced up as a spell ricocheted from the teacher's table. Frowning, she leaned over to Luna and gestured towards them. "What do you think's going on up there." The girl laughed. "It's just Professor Black and Professor Snape. They have their...disagreements." Anale nodded, frowning. "It appears so." The girls turned back to the table, giggling as some second year lit his hair on fire in a puff of smoke. They talked about the upcoming NEWT classes for a while--a topic Annie found dreadfully boring--and then Dumbledore stood up and cleared his throat. Time for the welcoming speech.

((I am totally not writing a while speech |D)) "Quiet, Snivelly." Sirius smirked, ducking another spell and disarming it before it hurt any students. "I mean really, you have no self control." Severus clenched his hands. This was going to be a very long and trying year. |

Annie shot a sideways glance at Snape and Black for a moment before turning her attention to the food. "Looks like we'll have an interesting year with those two," she mumbled in between bites. Luna smiled and nodded, with Marietta giggling in agreement. Annie frowned at the latter and returned to eating. Marietta could get on her nerves a lot, with her constant twittering and inability to keep a secret. But the girl was nice enough, and Annie didn't want to be hating anyone so soon into the school year. Perhaps she just needed some sleep--it had been a long day. "I just hope the Sorting Hat sorts quickly," she said. "I'm tired." She emphasized the point with a huge theatrical yawn, and then turned to the front again. The Sorting was starting. Ooc// Omg I had no idea what to post. D: Time skip again?

"Looks like Sirius is going to be tired for all his classes," Eithan sneered, watching Sirius enter the Great Hall. "Proffessor... Hah, my ass." Eithan was definately not wanting to go to his class. DADA? He would have prefered it if Snape was teaching.

She sat up in bed, frowning, and then realized just how much sunlight was filtering into the room. She had overslept...a lot. "Damn it," she growled, more colorful words coming to mind, but after a summer holiday with her parents, she kept them back. Annie rushed through getting ready, stuffing all manner of books and notebooks and quills into her bag. Just her luck to be late for breakfast on the first day. She just hoped she wouldn't be late for classes. Annie practically flew through the halls and into the Great Hall, walking through the tables with a slight frown. She settled next to Marietta, who was twittering on about some Hufflepuff guy--but at least they knew each other. With a relieved sigh, Annie looked to the professor's table to a very tired-looking Sirius Black. This year's DADA would be interesting. Fun, perhaps not....but interesting.

Annie exited Potions with a frown etched into her face. Snape's class was hard enough without it being a NEWT-level course. For what seemed the millionth time that day alone, she cursed her parents for signing her up in the most advanced classes. They were hard. She slipped along the corridors with ease, feeling more at home in the halls of Hogwarts than she did in her family's small mansion in a wizarding community called Druid's Hollow. It took her only a few minutes to get to her next class, DADA--a NEWT level class, of course--and frown as she realized the schedule said she had the class with Slytherin students as well. Well, you couldn't always have everything. Annie walked into the class with nearly ten minutes to spare. She looked around, mildly surprised to see that no one else was there. Looking up, she realized that Professor Black was there as well. "Good morning," she said quietly, feeling a tad bit awkward, and then found a seat at the edge of the second row.

Annie started at the warm tone of his voice. "Class, uh, got out a bit early." She looked up and smiled hesitantly. "And I don't believe I've met you formally. I'm Annie." She stood up and extended her her hand, feeling ridiculous because of the habit her parents had drilled into her brain the last few months. Stupid, she thought, He doesn't want to shake your hand!

Annie shrugged. "My parents are very supportive of....academics." She smiled her what-can-you-do smile, and then added, "Though Defense Against the Dark Arts should be an interesting NEWT class."

"As long as it doesn't slip into boring, that's okay with me." Annie faked a huge yawn, a small smile hinting at her lips. "As much as I like potions, Snape has this certain way of making me want to fall asleep." Which, in part, was true. Why Annie said it, she couldn't fathom. But to talk to a teacher about another teacher...well, under other circumstances, it would be unheard of. But Annie doubted that Black would tell anyone.
