Shard cocked her head when she said "nothing can stop these preditors" did she mean us? Or maybe the treecreapers, or the camo beasts, or the seals, or the sharks or the megopteran? Or the things from the past? She shook her head she must have meant all of them. Well, she's right to be afraid, humans are easy to take down.
