"Lead on." Nate told Ryu, touched at the other's kindness. He followed one step behind Ryu when they started walking, keeping up the the quick pace. Nate noticed when his friend readied the bow, and he found himself suddenly frozen in terror for a second. He then realized that Ryu wasn't, in fact, going to shoot at him and there were no Crazed Ones around. Nate hurried back to Ryu's side.
[[Do you want them to find some sort of man-made shelter, or like a cave or something?]]

((maybe a cave this time. As they move and get closer to cities and stuff they can find man-made stuff))
Ryu looked at Nate and lowered the bow a bit, holding the readied arrow still. If he accidently let go, he'd most likely hit the dirt, or his leg, but he didn't want that to happen. He smiled when Nate returned to his side, liking the boy's company after so many weeks of living on his own. He continued walking through the brush and swiped away the bush, scaring a pair of squirrels. He yawned. "Well, let's just hope we don't run into another Crazed. I can't keep shooting arrows and losing them."

"Hopefully any in the area will go to where we were." Nate said. Since that one had showed up, maybe the others would be attracted to the dead zombie's blood, and he and Ryu won't have to worry about seeing any of them for a while. Hopefully. Nate glanced at Ryu's bow. "Can't you just make new arrows or something?" He asked. He had never dealt with with weapons or anything like that before. Nate had grown up in a city most of his life, the only 'dangerous' ob
ject he had ever used before was a knife.

Ryu shrugged and placed the arrow back in the quiver on his back. He didn't want to scare Nate if the arrow accidently launched. He put the bow around his back as well, leaving both hands free to push aside bushes and tree branches that were low to the ground. He ended up running into a few branches, getting twigs caught in his hair and cutting his face a little. He brushed dirt from his face, smearing it on his cheek. "I guessI could make more, but that means making noise by either breaking off branches or going out to collect some to make arrows." He continued walking, pushing aside the bushes for them both to walk through. "So, Nate, do you happen to have anything warm in your pack? If we find a cave, I'm sure it'll be cold or damp or both. I have a sleeping back we could use. But no blanket." He sighed. He should have come more prepared.

Oh. Nate had never thought about the time it would take to make an arrow. It would also probably be hard to cut, and if it was crooked, then it might not fly straight. An arrow was useless if it missed the target. Nate lifted a hand to push a branch out of his way. "I have a blanket that we could probably share." He said, looking at Ryu's back. It was good to hear about the sleeping bag; the temperature had started dropping. Though Nate didn't have a calendar or had been keeping track of days, he was sure that it was at least early autumn, if not nearly winter. It was going to start getting very cold soon, and just a blanket probably wasn't going to work. With a sleeping bag and living furnace, they might actually stand a chance against the freezing wind and snow.

Ryu smiled and nodded at Nate. "Good, 'cause it was getting pretty cold." He looked at Nate and wrapped his arm around the boy' shoulders. "Are you alright? You looked pretty scared when that thing came at you." He hugged the boy a bit, feeling pretty protective of the only person he's seen in... how many months had he been out here. He realized that he didn't even know that. He blinked a couple times before he released Nate. "Well, we should probably hurry. I rather be able to know I have some shelter before we begin to look for food or something to make a few weapons out of." He pushed his way through a bush and was imediately met with a face full of mud. His foot entangled with a tree root that pushed it way through the soil and then the mud.

Nate felt his ears heat up when Ryu hugged him. The warmth was gone a few moments later when the other moved away. Nate was just about to reply when Ryu fell over. Nate froze in horror, thinking that Ryu had been injured in some way, but then he noticed the root around the man's ankle. Nate stumbled forward, nearly tripping over the same root, and knelt down next to Ryu. He touched the other's shoulder gently. "Ryu? You okay?" He asked, his voice wavering with uncertainty.
There was a sudden noise to their left. Nate snapped his head up towards where the sound had come from. He saw a thin rabbit dive into a bush in front of a wall. Wait a second... Nate blinked and looked up, surprised to see that a they were at the base of a decently sized mountain. He hadn't known that there were any mountains in these woods... Nate suddenly remembered Ryu and turned his attention to his friend.

((Tsu-chan!!)) Ryu sat up and spat out what mud had gotten into his mouth, rubbing his tongue on the unsoiled side of his sleeve. He coughed and looked up at Nate. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little dirt." He shook his head off and stood up, brushing off the slop that was clinging to his pants. He looked down at himself and sighed. "Guess I'll have to either wash these or... well whatever." He grabbed the hem of his shirt and pulled it over his head, careful not to get any more of it in his hair. He wiped the remaining mud from his clothes with the soiled shirt.n"You don't midn me being in just this tank right?" He looked at Nate, not wanting to make this situation a bit awkward. |

Nate looked away, embarrassed. He pointed over at the mountain, trying to ignore his semi-shirtless friend. "Look over there. I bet if we walk around the mountain, we'd be able to see some sort of cave or shelter." He said. "We might find a river, too, and you could wash yourself off there and we could replenish our water supply." If they found a river, there might find some sort of fish, which would make an easy meal if they could catch any. Nate glanced over at Ryu, careful to only look at his friends face.

Ryu smiled kindly at Nate and nodded. He felt a little embarrassed about the fact he was half shirtless since he hadn't seena human in a while, it never really bugged him. In front of a person was a whole other story. He didn't know what to really do though. This was his last clean shirt. All the others he packed, he had to leave behind at one time or another or risk getting attacked by something. Once it almost was a swarm of bees, which hadn't turned out pretty good at all. He hissed slightly at the memory and then nodded to Nate's suggestion. "That is logical. We should head over soon though, i don't wanna be out here when the sun starts to set or if we start getting hungry, I rather be near a river than we can swim in to get away."

Nate nodded and stood up. Glancing back to make sure Ryu was following, he started off, heading towards the mountain. Once they were closer to, Nate turned to the right side of the mountain and continued walking. His eyes scanned the mountain side, hoping to catch a glimpse of an opening. After what felt like around thirty minutes of walking, Nate thought he saw something. Halting, he looked over at Ryu, then back up at the mountain. The opening was large; a good-sized deer could easily enter it without having to duck. Though he couldn't see it clearly, Nate figured it was a cave. The only problem was that they would have to climb to reach it. "You want to check that out, or should we keep moving?"

Ryu smiled slightly and nodded. "we should really check it out because we don't wanna be out here all that long. With that fire having brought the first one.." He grabbed Nate's wrist and started to pulled the boy a bit before letting go. "Ya know, I think I may be paranoid. I haven't seen an undead for a while and seeing that one just freaked me out. I forgot how scary they can be when you see one for the first time." He shuddered and continued to walk before he reached the base of the mountainside. "Are we climbing or tryingto find a path that gets closer?" He looked over at Nate.

"I think we should just try to climb up. It's not that high up, and we should be able to see a path down when we're up there." Nate murmured. He adjusted his backpack before reaching up and out to grab hold of a rock. It was sturdy and didn't shift when Nate put his weight on it. The man gritted his teeth and stepped up onto another rock and started climbing. "It's not that bad..." Nate grumbled to himself.

Ryu chuckled and adjusted his own bag, plus his bow and quiver. He reached up and grabbed the first ledge Nate did and hoisted himself onto the rock face. He continued his way up, stopping once to look at the height. The cave really wasn't that far but it was still high. His head was probably just below the treetops. He shuddered to think about falling.

Nate hoisted himself up onto the last ledge, keeping on his hands and knees. He glanced over at the cave, making sure that noting appeared to be moving. The inside of the cave was dark, but it looked empty for the most part. Thank god; it would have been horrible if a Crazed One was hiding in the blackness. Nate turned back to the edge and held out a hand for Ryu to grab onto. "It looks clear up here. I think we're alone." Nate said quietly. He didn't know if his voice would echo, so he thought it would be best to keep it low.

Ryu continued to climb and hoisted himself onto the ledge next to Nate. He had to grabs the younger male, or shorter male, so he could gain his footing. He looked at the cave and took out a small flashlight he stumbled upon once. He flicked it on and shone it into the cave, lighting up the walls, which was encrusted with small crystals. "It looks like we are. If these little crystals light up more of the cave, we'll be able to make sure." He walked in cautiously and shone the light at a larger crystal, lighting up the cave a bit more. "Can you see anything?" His voice was as low as Nate's.
