Nate shook his head before realizing that Ryu wasn't looking. "No, I can't. I think we might be safe. I'm not sure if any of the Cra- zombies could even get up here." He murmured before standing up from the crouch he had taken. Nate moved deeper into the cave, looking around in awe, marveling at the walls. Miniature crystals dotted the rock walls sporadically. The crystals glittered and reflected the light from Ryu's flashlight. The sight was beautiful. Nate forced his dropped jaw to close, and he glanced over to see he friend's reaction.

Ryu was awe struck by the whole thing. The cave looked so cool with the crystals lighting up the insides. He couldn't help but to smile. He looked to Nate and smiled. "Well good, they can't get up here and we won't have to worry about them attacking us then." He put his pack down against the stone wall, but kept his quiver and bow on his back. It was moe of a precaution than anything else. He trained the flashlight on one crystal to light up the whole thing. "There, we have light for now. You hungry at all?"

"Do we have anything? I think I might have an apple or two in my bag." Nate offered. He hadn't mentioned the food earlier when they ate the rabbit because he was unsure of Ryu. But now that he was slightly more familiar with the other man, he thought it would be polite to share. And there was the fact that Nate didn't want Ryu to be supplying all of the food. Nate set down his back pack and pulled out his blanket. They were going to need it whenever they went to sleep, which would probably be soon because the light at the entrance of the cave was starting to dim.

Ryu pulled out the sleeping bag he had and unrolled it. It was large, but not too large. It could fit two people at least, thout they may be a bit closer than either would want to be. Maybe. Ryu looked over at Nate at when he offered up he apples. He smiled and nodded. "That sounds pretty good, we can use this place for a bit so we can gather food and other supplies. I rather not have to live off little food right now." He shrugged and put the sleeping bag down. "We'll have to share, if you don't mind that is." |

Nate glanced at the sleeping bag and frowned. It looked a bit small. They would probably have to squish together to fit. He wasn't sure what he thought about it. Nate hid his emotions by tossing his blanket at Ryu and turning to shuffle through he bag for the apples. He pulled the fruit out when he found them. The two were bruised, but they were fat and sweet. Nate stood and moved over to Ryu. "Here," he said, offering the slightly less bruised one to the other.

Ryu caught the blanket and laid it out over the sleeping bag he had just put down. He didn't know what Nate was thinking. He couldn't read minds obviously. He looked at the teen as he dug through his backpack. He didn't know if the boy was even comfortable sleeping in the same sleeping bag as he. He didn't know if he could find another one. They probably could once they got into the town. He sighed and didn't noticed Nate was already up and studying the apples.
Ryu just about jumped when Nate held out an apple. He blinked and grabbed the apple from Nate's hand. "Thanks Nate." He smiled and took a bite of the apple. Despite its bruised look, the apple was great under. It wasn't squishy but it was juicy and kind of crunchy. He smiled. |

Nate sat down next to Ryu and bit into his apple. He wiped the juices from his mouth with his sleeve. Nate glanced over at the other man, rolling conversation ideas in his mind. He didn't know what to say, but he wanted to talk. Nate realized he had been staring at Ryu for a while. He tried to cover himself by looking up at the ceiling and took another bite out of his apple.
"Um. Ryu," he managed to stutter out. Nate bit his lip. He still didn't know what to say. He hadn't meant to speak. It was too late now to take back it words, though, so he forced himself to continue. "So how are you...?" His sentence ended on a confused high note.

Ryu chuckled slightly and bit into his apple at the question. It was way too cute. Cute? Yeah.. That's what his mind settled on. He chuckled and swallowed his bite of apple. "I'm good for now. My arm is a bit sore from carrying my quiver and bow. The line digs into my shoulder." He shrugged and continued to eat his apple until he got down to the core. He tossed the core out of the cave mouth.
"What about you, Nate? How are you?" He smiled at the boy before he turned and reached into his pack, he had a little bit of water and that apple did fill him up a little. He opened his canteen and took a gulp. |

Nate looked down at the apple in his hands. He took another small bite out of it. "Erm." He began, twitching. "I... am... fine?" He asked, unsure of his answer. He was alright at the moment, ignoring the fact that just about everyone he knew was either dead or a Crazed One. "I mean, I have food, I'm not dead, and I'm no longer alone." Nate glanced over at Ryu when he said that, then looked back at the apple. He took another few bites, finishing thee fruit. He tossed the core towards the entrance. Nate leaned back so he was laying against the hard stone floor and looked at the crystals above. He was getting tired. And cold, but he could ignore being cold.

"Well, that's very true. You are alive and you did have some more food. The rabbit's meat and then the apples you provided." Ryu smiled slightly. He felt liket his kid wasn't going to be too bad. Sure, he probably wasn't a fighter, but that gave Ryu all the more reason to want to protect the kid. It gave him a purpose in this worthless time. People turning into Crazed left and right. It wasn't a world he wished on anybody to be born into. Kids. He cringed. They were the easy targets and it happened way to fast. He shook his head and tried to keep those negative feelings out of his mind. It wasn't working all that well, but it didn't exactly help him. He sighed and laid back, pretty much like Nate and looked at the crystals. Their only light source. "Nate, if you wannat take the sleeping bag for yourself, you can. I can sleep without it if you don't feel comfortable with sharing it. I mean, i just met you and I'm already asking you to 'sleep with me' in some context." He turned his head to the side, looking at the slightly dark figure of Nate.

Nate was surprised; he hadn't expected the offer. He had thought that it was obvious that they would share. From his experience sleeping in trees, it got cold at night. Not freezing, but still uncomfortable, and that was with a blanket. The rock floor was chilled enough as is, and the air around them was getting colder every minute without the sun's heat. Nate knew that he wouldn't be able to get a semi-good night's rest without some sort of cover or heat source, so he doubted that Ryu would be able to, either. He shook his head, but then realized that his friend might not be looking or able to see in the darkness. "No, it's fine. We can share, I don't mind." Nate paused. Maybe Ryu had been offering because he didn't want to sleep with Nate. "Unless you don't want to, that is." He said quickly.

Ryu managed to catch a small glipse of the movement, though he couldn't exactly make out what it was because of how dark it was in the cave. There was barely any light shining through anyways so it was getting colder too. He was kind of glad that Nate wasn't going to make him sleep on the cave floor. The floor was cold enough without having a blanket or his sleeping bag to lay on. He shivered just thinking about it. He might freeze or something, okay, maybe not freeze, but it was still pretty bad. He shrugged it off and quickly shook his head when Nate said he didn't have to. "No, no bro. I didn't mean it like that. I just wanted to make sure you were going to be comfortable with all this. I mean, we just met and already sharing a 'bed' if that's what you wanna call it. Anyways, I'm fine with sharing. We need all the warmth we can get with all this coldness." He smiled, though he doubted that Nate could see. The crystals weren't giving enough light anymore.

Nate smiled. It would have bothered him if his friend had refused to sleep with Nate. (Though, he didn't know why it would affect him; maybe it was a trust issue. But since Ryu seemed to be okay with the idea of them sleeping together, Nate didn't have to worry about it.) "Ryu," Nat started, sitting upright and squinting in the dark, looking at where his friend was. "Your ready to sleep?" He asked. It was actually starting to get frigid to the point where day clothes wasn't enough protection against the cold, and Nate couldn't wait to snuggle up someplace warm. Or against someone, as long as heat was provided, it didn't matter. "If we wait any longer, we're going to have problems finding the sleeping bag." Nate glanced back over his shoulder. He could barely see the outline of the bag in the darkness. Turning back to look at Ryu, Nate couldn't help but think something was wrong. He was unsure about what this something was, but there was a strange feeling in the pit of Nate's stomach that he didn't like.

Ryu was lost in his own thoughts as he stared at the fading light that came from the setting sun. He felt at peace for once, which was good for this world. Nothing was ever peaceful. Everybody was either a Crazed or trying to survive day by day. Nights were just as bad as day. Crazed walking around and trying to get you while y ou're asleep. They were everywhere and peace was nowhere to be found. He jumped slightly when Nate started to talk to him. He didn't really expect that much. He looked at the boy next to him and could just make out the last few words. Something about sleeping? He nodded. "Uh, yeah. We should probably sleep now. I mean, I can abrely see the bag as it is." he chuckled a bit before he crawled over to the bag and blanket. He unzipped the bag and removed his shoes, not wanting to get mud or anything in teh bag. He settled himself in and smiled to himself. He held his arms open and held the sleepign bag zip in one, leaving it open enough for Nate to crawl in. "Come here Nate. Time for bed~" He purred playfully.

Nate blushed bright red and thanked god it was too dark for Ryu to see. He kicked off his own shoes and shuffled over to the sleeping bag and man inside it. He blinked a few times, trying to figure out where the bag ended and floor began before awkwardly getting into it. He had never shared a sleeping bag before (nor had he ever planed on doing so), and he had no idea where to put his arms or legs. Nate hesitantly wrapped his arms around Ryu because, well, there weren't any other options as to where to put them. He could already tell that they were going to be quite squished together once Nate finally settled down. He shifted once more before resting his head on Ryu's shoulder.

((OMG! He's too cute! <3)) Ryu blushed slightly when he felt Nate wrap his arms around his frame. It was nice to feel some warmth coming from the boy in front of him. It was nice to have another human in general. He smiled slightly once Nate was all settled. He dropped the sleeping bag and zipped it up, squishing them together just a bit more. He looked aorund and pulled the blanket over them. He wrapped his arm around Nate once he was settled adn pulled the boy closer. He was slightlt embarrassed about the whole situation, but the warmth the boy gave off was delightful. He yawned and buried his face into Nate's neck wanting more warmth. Sure, it was probably a little too intimate for the boy, but Ryu didn't really care right now. "Comfy?" He breathed into Nate's neck. |

To say that Nate's bubble had been breached would be an understatement. The metaphorical protective cover had deflated the second he wiggled into the bag. Now it was pretty much non-existent. Not that Nate minded at the moment, he was warm and that was all that mattered. Maybe if they had done this a few months back, he would have worried about how it would affect his reputation and that it was 'wrong'. But with the thought of people going crazy and eating each other, most of society norms were thrown out the window. And Nate felt comfortable being near Ryu, so being so close was fine. "Yeah..." He murmured back, closing his eyes and sighing.

{Insert epic time skip} Ryu lightly snored, sending short puffs of cool breath onto the pillow he was nuzzled up against. Everything up 'til then had seemed like such a dream. Like it never even happened. He never met another human nor was said human sleeping... in... the SAME BAG! Ryu startled himself awake with that realization. He was pressed against the boy. His 'pillow' really was the boy he had met not too long ago. He groaned slightly and laid himself back down, not wanting to wake Nate. He kept his arms wrapped around the boy regardless of his sudden waking. He didn't want to wake the poor guy anyways. He yawned and nuzzled himself back into Nate's neck, feeling the chill of the cave air getting to him. He didn't like the cold very much. He pressed his nose into the crook of Nate's neck, content with just laying here to keep warm. |

Nate, waking to Ry's stirring, cracked open his eyes and awkwardly stretched his arms out before resting them back on his friend's back. "Mornin'" He murmured, his voice laced with sleep. Nate closed his eyes and snuggled closer to his personal heater, even though he was already as close as he could get. It was unsurprisingly cozy in the sleeping bag, and he had slept quite nicely that night. Much better than he had been sleeping before in a tree. It was the first time he had gotten a full nights sleep in what felt like forever. "Ready to get up?" Nate asked, secretly hoping that Ryu declined. He wanted to sleep in like he always did on the weekends before the sickness came. A thought entered his head; was Ryu even awake? It wasn't like he had checked first before talking. Nate shifted, trying to see his friend's face, but quickly gave up in fear of waking him up if he was still asleep.
