Elk blinked a few times, tilting his head down as his mind started drifting into thought. It was so easy to forget that Brisingr was human. Elk had always thought of humans as weak and stupid creatures that were careless with the few abilities they had, but Brisingr was nothing like that. Although he was sometimes a bit hard to figure out, he was usually kind and gentle.

"What are we going to do about the forest?" Elk asked softly, his voice a bit higher than usual from worry. He kept his head down and his grip on Brisingr's shoulders, which he'd been still holding onto, increased slightly. 

Elk whimpered again, clinging onto Brisingr tightly as the tears began rolling down his cheeks, but holding onto him only made him feel more alone, in some odd way. "I don't...I don't want you to leave me." he sobbed softly, "I don't want to be left all alone again!"

He heard Elk's voice crack as he tried to make light of the situation. He as right though. Why bawl it out now of all times. "Yeah. Look at us."he smiled with a quiver of sadness. "A powerful wolf entity of the forest and a meek and humble human just letting it all out. A while ago you didnt trust the shade of my shadow an now, thankfully, here we are. Embracing."he lightly said as he ran his hand through Elk's hair. "You know.."Brisingr began. "I could come back for you..."

Elk seemed to relax greatly from the simple touch, leaning back against the tree trunk behind him. His ex
pression suddenly got a lot more content than it had been; his cheeks were still pink from crying, but his eyes had a bit more life to them. 

As he listened to what Brisingr said, something struck his attention. "Come... back for me?" he echoed, unsure what exactly Brisingr's words meant. 

((*cocks head* I never really thought of it that way. I didn't even realize. o_o;

Elk gave Brisingr a kind, almost sad smile. Anxiety twisted in his throat, making him unable to speak. He knew he couldn't survive among humans, but for some reason he felt desperate to stay with Brisingr, no matter how impossible it seemed. Elk needed the forest, but the humans needed Brisingr. He let out a soft whimper, moving to cling onto the human tightly. 

The laws of nature seemed to be prohibiting Brisingr and Elk from being together. That was quite the low blow to feel the world is agianst you and what was important to you. He felt the warmth of the sun caress the back of his own neck. He looked to the horizon and figured that he and Elk had been out here for a majority of the day. He didnt care though. Brisingr held tightly to Elk, afraid to let go for fear of losing something near and dear to him.

Elk made a soft noise again, nuzzling against Brisingr's cheek. At this point, he'd pretty much blocked out all thought. He didn't want to think of the other leaving; all he wanted to do was enjoy his embrace and feel his warmth. After a moment, he drew back slightly only to connect their lips together again in a shy kiss.

Brisingr enjoyed his close proximity with Elk. He disliked the fact that he had to return, but he wanted to live in the moment for now. He felt Elk's shy embrace and was thankful for the feeling. He didnt waste time returning the soft connection of their lips.

Elk brought one of his hands up to grip Brisingr's hair, the other automatically holding onto the human's shoulder. Sometime he'd have to ask why kissing Brisingr felt so good, but now was the wrong time to do it. Even he could see that. In a slight display of his wolfishness, he gently licked at Brisingr's bottom lip, opening one of his eyes slightly to see how he reacted.

In response to Elk grabbing hold of his shoulder and hair, Brisingr put one hand on the small of Elk's back to pull him closer and used his other hand to cradle the back of Elk's head. When he felt the soft lip on hips lip from Elk he felt a tingle of bliss from it. He moved to put his lips on Elk's neck and gently kiss it.
