((Uhm. Hey. Sorry 'bout all that. Uh. I'm just gonna post a fail now, rsther than continuing to let this rot, so uh. Yeah. :I))

"Right." said Afanasiy, with a note of finality despite the fact that no decisions had been reached. About anything. He was silent for a good while, and the pensive stare he was currently directing at the human before him gave the impression that he was deep in thought, puzzling over some unsolvable conundrum. Absently, he brought one of his own bloodstained and deathly thin fingertips up to his mouth, licking away the crimson drops that had come to settle there from the battle before.

Afanasiy was stuck. He knew how feeble humans were. He feared that, weakened by blood loss as this one was, this one- this Atramentum- might just keel over and die, and then all this would have been for naught. So with that in mind, it seemed clear that the best course of action would be to let him rest a while, perhaps find him some human food and some water. And yet, Afanasiy just could not stand the idea of  living (temporary as the arrangement may be) so close to a human encampment. He simply did not trust the creatures. Having been one himself, he knew how quick to make bad decisions they were. Humans' tendency to try to destroy all that was unfamiliar made them more dangerous than some vampires. These particular humans had already proven to Afanasiy beyond a reasonable doubt that they did not care for vampires or for Atramentum. Was it not obvious, then, that the duo should be spending their time either planning a counter-attack (which clearly wasn't going to happen) or at least heading for the hills?

Dammit. I've no skill in decision making. Culpa always took care of this. What am I meant to do when my only two options are clearly bad ones?

Afanasiy blinked, allowing his deep violet eyes to settle on the fragile male. It was in a  pitiful state, really. Standing there in a pool of its own blood (which, for the record, was still oozing steadily from its wounds). Atramentum certainly didn't look to be in any state to flee, and yet Afanasiy had to wonder... perhaps the bleeding one was stronger than it looked. After all, it had endured the pain of knives slashing trough its paper-thin skin without so much as a whimper. At any rate, despite how Afanasiy liked to think of them as being nothing more than dumb animals, humans were undeniably sentient, and therefore capable of thinking for themselves. Therefore, Afanasiy would just pose the question to Atramentum. He would get his opinion, and, if it was wrong he would simply ignore it.

"Right," he repeated, his tone reeking of sovereignty and self righteousness. "By your appearance, I can see that you are severely weakened. At the moment, however, I do not believe you are in danger of dying."

Afanasiy strode around to the human's other side, looking him up and down critically, as though Atramentum were nothing more to him than a slab of meat that he may or may not want to purchase. In reality, the very smell of him caused beads of saliva to form at the corners of the vampire's mouth. Even Afanasiy's tongue was pale as it snaked out to moisten his lips. How good that blood smelled...

"What I need to know is whether or not you are capable of making a trip. We would leave immediately. I do not know how far we would need to go, nor how fast. Our other option, the less desirable one to me by far, is that we wait here for you to recuperate. I am... uncomfortable, with this option, primarily because I do not desire by any means to remain in such close proximity to so many of your kind for longer than I have to."

Another pause.

"If you believe that you will be unable to travel as of yet, then you must tell me now, as I may not be able to find shelter for you later on. If we do stay here, we have a tactical advantage provided by the clearing here."

Here, Afanasiy looked directly into the unfocused and half-conscious eyes of the human.

"In short, I am giving you two options. Either we leave or we stay. Choose wisely."

Atra may have, under different circumstances, found Afanasiy's behaviour unnerving, might have been bothered by the fact he was licking blood- blood that was almost certainly not his- and seemed to like the taste. His consciousness had been slowly drifting away when he was awakened again by the Lamia's voice. He listened as carefully as he was able, sensing it was important. He might have recoiled physically at the tone of voice the vampire spoke in when describing 'his kind', but after the events of the night, he couldn't say he was particularly delighted with the human race.

Atra didn't quite understand the logistics of war or fighting, so the term tactical advantage meant nothing to him; all he knew was that the Lamia didn't want to remain in the clearing, and that meant they were going to leave, regardless of how stupid a decision it may or may not have been. In so far as he was concerned, if he was destined to die, he would regardless of where he was; if he was not, no amount of travelling could change that fact.

The human struggled to focus his gaze onto the pale-skinned man, but he managed it just long enough to choke out the decision he had come to. It wasn't a choice, really; he was going to do all he could to stay in Afanasiy's good books. It was his only chance of survival.

''Leave. I... I'll be fine if we... get going.'' He attempted to keep his voice even, to minimise slips, but there was only so much he could do. Only so quickly he could think with fog growing thicker on his mind with every passing moment.

((Ugh. I started a reply on my phone but I got distracted and it deleted itself. Hokey so...
Uhm. what'd I say before. Lesse. Ohyeah, okey. Summat like this, I think "Hey man. Thanks so much fopr the ice tunnel stuff. Frosted pets are so pretty. <3"))

The human had actually agreed to go along with what Afanasiy wanted... an unexpected turn of events to say the least. Nonetheless, the vampire was glad. This way, he would be able to get away from the humans, and he wouldn't even have to tie Atramentum up and carry him. He would be okay with the labour, but he wasn't so sure he'd be able to restrain himself from feeding if he was in actual physical contact with the human for too long.

Also unexpected was the brief, admittedly weak but no less real, pang of sympathy Afanasiy felt towards the human. Seeing how much pain he was undoubtedly in, how much blood he had already lost. Afanasiy found himself fighting the urge to perform a mercy killing (he felt like he was playing with his food, something which he hated to do). He resisted, of course, but the feeling was definitely still there.

The human definitely doesn't sound fine. I hope it can manage to walk quickly enough that it doesn't become a complete nuisance. I may very well kill it out of frustration, and then all this effort will go to waste.

Afanasiy made a small sound in the back of his throat, a little grunt of sorts, as he glared at Atramentum. If only humans weren't so damn weak, everything would be much easier.

All he said, however, was "Good. Good choice. Let's head out now before the sun rises. It will be more difficult for the humans to track us in the dark if they do decide to chase after us."

With that, Afanasiy turned away from Atramentum. He seemed to consider for a moment exactly which direction would be best travel in. His piercing eyes swept back and forth, narrowing in concentration. Very suddenly, without any sort of warning at all, he began to walk off. His movements held the same effortless grace as they always did. Only now, his steps-- quick and silent as ever-- seemed exaggeratedly purposeful as he stalked into the darkness of the forest.

(9Oh my god that was terrible I'm sorry))
