"Hey, it's the thought that counts," Riley said under her breath. She leaned back very gently and tried to relax her wing muscle. The way the membrane dipped down stretched the skin too much and she had to pile a few pillows onto the couch to keep it upright. Finally being able to relax, Riley leaned back and closed her eyes. The pain had become a dull ache on her wing, but only if she didn't focus on it or move the wing too much.

When Markus unzipped his backpack, Riley cracked open one eye to look at him. She almost said, You carry figurines around with you? Are you serious? but she held her tongue. If it had something to do with his Greek religion, she didn't want to piss him off again. "Don't try any freaky voodoo crap on me," she said to him though as she closed her eyes again.

Okay, so that was still rude. It was Riley.

Markus glanced at her through the corner of his eyes. "Voodoo not Greek, but Creole. Just praying for your swift recovery," he murmured, touching his forehead with three fingers before using the same hand to touch the tiny stone Goddess's forehead with one finger. Adding a line in his ancient tongue, he slipped the statuette back into his backpack and zipped it up.

He stood up and gazed at the fallen angel before wandering off. After a handful or so minutes later, the vampire came back with a blanket in his hands and offered it to Riley.

"Since you shouldn't move much," he muttered.

Riley kept her eyes closed through his little ritual thing or whatever. She actually started to drift off, able to ignore the sounds of him moving about in her apartment. Should it have bothered her, that a vampire was walking around in her living space? Should Riley really trust the shadows not to kill him in a moment of her weakness? The thought almost jarred Riley back to reality but she was almost gone.

She jerked to a start when she heard Markus talk right next to her. Black eyes flying open, she tensed, about ready to stand up, and saw the blanket. "Since you shouldn't move much."

"Oh," Riley said, truly at a loss for words. She couldn't remember the last time someone had showed her kindness like that. Actually she could, but she chose not to. "Uh thanks," she said and grasped the blanket. Riley draped it over her body and looked up at Markus. "Feel free to do what you like around the house. My bedroom's in the back if you want to sleep, shutters should be drawn anyway." She shrugged and closed her eyes again.

He tilted his head and nodded. He grabbed his backpack and walked to where he saw her bedroom a little earlier in his skulkings. Stopping slightly, he turned his head and noticed she was a sleep... Or just had her eyes closed.

"Kalí̱ nýcht, épese énas," he whispered softly.

Closing the bedroom door behind him, he set the backpack down again and pulled out a pair of dark gray sweats. Quickly stripping and slipping on the pants that counted as his sleepwear, he folded up his other clothes and set them on the dresser with his boots at the foot of the bed. His jacket he hung across the boots.

Stretching slightly, he reached over with one shoulder and lightly scratched at the brand on his shoulder blade before collapsing on the bed. The vampire didn't really get cold or feel temperature changes. So he was pretty comfortable just laying on top of all the sheets.

His eyes closed and he was off to dreamland... If vampires could truly dream.

[[ "Good night, fallen one."

Timeskip~ ]]

Markus could tell time had passed. Though he didn't know how much. With a twitch of his nose, he opened his eyes. His position didn't really change much and he slipped off the bed anyways. He wasn't hungry or anything. But he wanted to check on Riley. Surely she had enough time to finish healing her wing.

Nodding once to himself, he went to go check on her. Not really caring if he was shirtless at the moment.

Riley was up a few minutes before the sun went down. Her eyes didn't feel as heavy as they had last night, though to her irritation, the muscles on her wounded wing were stiff and sore. It felt like the poor thing had been trampled on and beaten with a stick. Gingerly stretching the membrane out a little, Riley was relieved to find that the feathers had reverted to their normal black color. When she poked the puncture wound, she felt a hard knot of scar tissue and knew she'd healed just fine.

She looked up just in time to see Markus leaving her room. Her brows drew together then shot upward when she saw his shirtless attire. "Well well well, you're quite the looker aren't ya, Markus?" Riley said. She wondered for a moment if the vampire had any relations with someone, the thought making her nose twitch in the slightest.

"All rested and ready to party," she said as she stood up, stretching the wing as she did so. "You coming to the rave with me?" she asked.

Markus noticed how her brows raised when she spotted him shirtless. He blinked crimson eyes and glanced down at his chest. Sure he was muscular and all that, but he didn't exactly flaunt it as some of the mortal men did. Females might swoon after that, but the vampire preferred to use other methods.

With a faint shrug to himself, he glanced back up to Riley when she spoke again. Cocking his head to one side, he crossed his arms against his white chest and nodded his head once. Though, he knew he wouldn't be dancing.

"Let me get dressed first," the vampire said as he turned to head back to her room.

Riley shrugged and watched him go. She decided to rummage around in her fridge while she waited. Technically Riley didn't need food to survive but some tastes appealed to her. She picked out an apple from the bottom shelf and kicked the fridge door closed as she went to prop her elbows up on her counter. Her black hair tumbled over her shoulder and she stared at her bedroom door to wait for Markus to come out.

She was itching to get down to the rave. No doubt the creepy light arrow guy would be there expecting her to show up. If he really knew as much about her as he said he did, he'd know she wouldn't miss this for the world. It would definitely be a trap. He'd find her and all those vampires would turn on her and more than likely rip her wings out to kill her.

"Not if the shadows go ballistic," she muttered.

It didn't take Markus that long to change into street cloths. And since he didn't sweat, he had changed back into the clothes he wore from the previous night. With his feet already in his shoes, he slipped on the leather jacket as he exited Riley's room. His crimson eyes taking in her slightly bored ex
pression. Though she smelled a little anxious.

"Ready?" he asked as he drew closer to the fallen angel.
