"So what'd you do over holiday, Seamus?" Seamus looked up from his chicken at the sound of Neville's question, grinning across the table at then other boy.
"Well," he said slowly, chewing his chicken as he spoke. He stuck his tongue out and winked at Lavender Brown, who made a disgusted noise at his lack of manners before turning away with a humph. "I spent most o' it wif me cousin Fergus. Righ' git, 'e is, but 'e finally got 'is own place an' wanted t' show if off." He swallowed his chicken, and then leaned in towards the table as he said secretively, "But 'oo cares about that? I've got something much more interesting t' talk about."
"What is it, Seamus?" Dean asked beside him, pushing Seamus back before he dipped his tie in the mashed potatoes.
Seamus brush Dean's hand off before saying, "There's a new student comin' t' 'ogwarts this year."
Dean snorted. "There's always new students, Seamus. They're called first years."
Seamus shook his head. "No, mate, a sixth year. A transfer."
Lavender whipped back around to stare at him with a little gasp. "A transfer student?" she exclaimed. "There's never any transfer students! Is it a boy?"
Seamus shook his head, and grinned as Lavender turned away, once again losing interest in the conversation. "Me sources tell me it's a girl."
Neville shook his head. "I don't believe it," he mumbled. "There's never been any transfer students before."
Seamus shrugged, picking up another piece of chicken. "You don' 'ave t' believe me, mate. I'm only sayin'. But you'll see. She'll probably be up there wif the firs' years, getting sorted. Personally," he added thoughtfully, before grinning widely at his friends, "I jus' 'ope she's good looking."

"Okay dear, You just wait here until you've been called." said a woman, dressed in emerald green robes and a pointed Witch's hat. She had just opened up the Great Hall's door and she was now making her way through the long tables followed by a bunch of nervous looking first years, who were mumbling aloud.
The girl, whom Professor McGonagall talked to, only nodded and took a long gaze around the hall. It was lit with hundreds of thousands of hovering candles, filled with many chattering students and delicious looking food, decorated with hung banners representing the four Houses; Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, and to top it all off a Bewitched ceiling, that was currently taking the image of a beautiful starry night.
A smile crossed her face and after a few more moments of admiration she averted her attention to the Head Table where an old looking man, with a silvery-grey beard, was straightening himself up in front of a golden, owl encrusted stand. Fenella quickly straightened out her uniform, which was embellished with Scarlet and Gold, and the Gryffindor Lion.
"Welcome to another year at Hogwarts!" the man stopped to beam at them all, "We will carry out onto the Sorting Ceremony as always but, first please give a warm welcome to Fenella Ovian."
Some of the more curious students looked back at the entrance to where Dumbledore seemed to be staring at. After a few minutes of observing the blonde girl, and some occasional muttering and frequent staring they looked back onto Dumbledore.
Fenella froze, feeling a mixture of different emotions wash over her; embarrassment, nervousness, excitment.. she finally took a deep breath, slowly stepping into the the Great Hall and making her way up to the Head Table. On the way, she took very few glances at the students, who started to mutter things again. She stood next to Dumbledore once she made her way, looking down at the floor.
"Fenella is a transfer student from a more smaller, private Wizardry school than Hogwarts. She has been earlier sorted into the Gryffindor House and will be studying our Sixth Year classes. We hope you treat her as if she were already here at Hogwarts before, we also ask if a few students from Gryffindor show her around some more, help her get to her class tomorrow morning.. and so on," Dumbledore gave a wink at Fenella and gestured her over to her fellow Gryffindor students, "Now onto the Sorting Ceremony!"
Fenella once again, only nodded to Dumbledore and this time smiled before making her way down the few steps over to the Gryffindor Table. She found herself a seat in between a brown-haired boy and a blond boy. She smiled frankly at both of them before gazing up upon the Head Table, where little First Years began lining up. She gave out another smile before looking back at the other Gryffindors, she each took a quick glance at them, another brown-haired boy, a black-haired boy and a sandy-haired boy.. Fenella turned her attention back to the Sorting Ceremony, her eyes turning into a Midnight Blue, matching the ceiling above.

Seamus let out a low whistle as the girl approached the table. He grinned. "See," he said, nudging Dean with his elbow. "I told you. An' she's good looking, too!" Dean pushed Seamus' elbow away, and Seamus vaguely registered Dean telling him to stuff it before he called out, "Oi! New girl! Congrats on making Gryffindor --best 'ouse in the 'ole school! What's your name? I'm Seamus."
((Lol, so so short. I'm sorry. My brain hurts. Dx))

Just as the Sorting Hat was about to shout out "Gryffindor!" Fenella twisted around to see who had just called out to her. At the exact moment her dark blue eyes turned into a bright, icy blue. She forced out a smile, "Thanks, and it's Fenella, weren't you listening?" she replied, jerking her head slightly towards the Head Table.

Seamus' brow furrowed slightly as he looked at her --had her eyes just changed color? He was distracted from pointing it out as Dean burst out laughing. He elbowed his friend in the ribs --stupid git, laughing at Seamus' stupidity-- and said defensively, "I-- o' course I was listening! S'just --hard t' hear, is all. S'very loud in 'ere. Right, Dean?" Dean didn't answer, just kept laughing. Seamus scowled. "You'll 'ave t'excuse me friend Dean, Fenny," he said in a sad, dramatic voice. "'e took a Bludger t' the 'ead o'er summer 'oliday. Knocked 'is I.Q. down somethin' fierce."

Fenella laughed, and fixed up her bangs. She nodded, "Mhm.. For sure.. it is quite loud in here," she joked. Her eye colour transitioned into a baby blue. "And did he? did it hurt er- Dean right?"

Dean shook his head. "I've never been hi--"
"'e's in denial," Seamus cut in quickly, grinning at Fenella. He stood, placing his hand on the top of Dean's head and wailing, "Oh, me poor, poor Dean! Me best mate! I mourn the loss o' your former self!"
A bread roll hit him in the chest, followed by several people calling, "Shut up, Seamus." Seamus sank back into his seat, pouting.
"You all always 'ave t' ruin me fun. Wait a minute --did your eyes jus' change color?" he asked, leaning over to peer closely at Fenella's face.

Fenella couldn't contain herself from the two's little bicker, so she had to constantly bite her lip to keep herself from giggling. She soon turned blank-faced at the mention of her eyes changing colours. "N-no.. I mean yes.. I mean.. no.. yeah- no.." she said, stuttering yet having a hint of seriousness and defensiveness in her tone. 'Dammit Fenella, Someone's already've noticed.. you were supposed to keep 'em at one colour.. -wait, shade.. they didn't change colour, they changed shade.. uh.. just keep cool,' she thought to herself, hoping it would keep her at a calm state and give her some reason to tell him that didn't just happen.
Fenella blinked a few times and her eyes changed back into an icy blue, the first blue Seamus had seen her in, she plastered on a weak smile. "No. No one's ever asked or point out that. They've always been this kind of blue always, as long as I could remember. Are- are you sure you aren't seeing things? perhaps a mind's illusion? because I've never seen my eyes change shade- I mean colours.." Fenella lied, not once looking into his eyes, then surely if she did he may get onto her, get suspicious.
Not that Fenella was ashamed of her Water Nymph heritage, it was the fact of people knowing.. what if they thought she was weird? like a freak.. Fenella had heard of The Slytherin House, and how most of the students in the house were manipulative and unfriendly. What if it had gotten around to Slytherin she had Water Nymph blood, the things they would say..
She shook herself from the thoughts and started to involuntarily fumble along with her fingers, nervous if Seamus would believe her little lie or not.

Seamus raised his eyebrows. They'd just changed again, he was sure of it. Maybe she was a Metamorphmagus? But then... He took in her nervous smile, the way she was avoiding her eyes, her twiddling fingers. It was obviously a subject she wanted to avoid. He nodded, and said, "Alright, then. Must 'ave been the lighting." He looked at her suspiciously once more, and decided that he'd find out, sooner or later. She'd have to tell him eventually --he was very persuasive. And annoying. He grinned at her again. "S'what made you wan t' come t' 'ogwarts?"

Fenella felt a heap of relief wash over her face as he didn't say no more. She ignored his suspicious looks, and shrugged her shoulders. "I dunno, It just seemed.. well, like a cool experience y'know? a new chapter," she said smugly. "I've just wanted to come to Hogwarts a few years back, I thought it'd be fun.. just mere excitement." she continued, her mouth curving into a smile and her eyes crinkled.

Seamus nodded again. "S'understandable," he said slowly. "'Course, it won't be quite so exciting around 'ere anymore, I s'pose. Not wifout Fred an' George. Right, Dean?" Dean made a noise of agreement through his mouthful of mashed potatoes. "Fred an' George are the Weasley twins," he explained. Just for good measure, he added, "Started up Weasley's Wizard Wheezes, they did."

"Oh, yes. I've heard of them," Fenella said, nodding back. "And I reckon I've seen them a few times in and around- Ginger hair? talking in sequence? both very tall.." she said the last part in a more admiring tone. Fenella ran a hand through her hair and after a long period of time she looked at him in the eyes. She abruptly averted her attention to him and took a sidelong glance at the foods in front of her.
Treacle tarts, Yorkshire Pudding, fudge and loads of different types of candy.
She took a small piece of Cauldron Cake from it's tray and took a small bite out of it. She savoured the taste of it's chocolatey goodness before turning back to Seamus. She placed the cake down onto the plate in front of her and opened her mouth to speak, "So you've been here at Hogwarts since First Year I suppose?"

"Oh, yeah," Seamus said, mimicking Fellena's tone. "Very tall. They are just so 'andsome, eh, Neville?" Seamus batted his eyelashes at the boy across from him, and Neville promptly turned bright red.
"I-I --I g-guess so, Seamus?" Neville stuttered, glancing nervously between Seamus and Fenella. Seamus burst out laughing at the look on the poor boys face.
"Only joking, Nev," he said with a grin. "But yeah," he turned his attention back to Fenella, "We've all been 'ere since firs' year. People don' normally transfer."

Fenella smiled genuinely at Neville, the poor look on the boy's face.. "Oh- well, yeah.. Anyways, er-.." she hesitated, not knowing what to talk about next, so she took a long glance around the Hall trying to look for a topic to talk about. "--What do you have first tomorrow morning?" she asked uneasily. This was kind of awkward, oh well, better make the best of it.

"Dunno," Seamus said. "Lemme check me schedule." He pulled the sheet of crinkled parchment from his robe pocket, and wrinkled his nose as he read it. "Pah! Double Potions? You've gotta be kidding me!" He turned to Fenella again with a sigh. "I hate Potions," he said. "What about you, Fen?" he grinned at her, purposely using a shortened version of her name to show he was trying to be her friend. Oh yeah. He was smooth.

"Hm, I like Potions," Fenella said before taking a folded piece of parchment out from the pocket of her skirt. She opened it up and smoothed it out with her fingers, her eyes skimmed through the parchment twice. Fenella looked back up at Seamus and gave him a nod. "Yeah, I do too." she replied, folding the parchment up again and stuffing it back into her pocket. 'Fen? it's Fenella.. though.. well- er- it's not that bad..' she thought, doubling back to when he had called her that, what a stupid thought, to be thinking about a nickname.

"Do you?" Seamus asked happily. "Well, y'can come sit wif me, then!" Next to him, Dean snorted. "Why would she sit with you, mate? You'll blow her up!" Seamus turned red as the students around them laughed. "S'not true!" he said quickly. "I 'aven't blown anything up since third year!" "That's a lie, and we all know it. The only person who ruins more potions than you is Neville." "Alright, fine," Seamus huffed. "She doesn't 'ave to sit wif me. I jus' 'ope she doesn't end up wif some Slytherin. If she does, blame yourself."

Fenella shook her head, smiling and chuckling at the same time. "Why not.. Sure, I'll sit with you," she continued to smile then a more serious look crossed her face, though merely just sarcasm, "- Just y'know.. try not to blow me up if what's he's saying is true.." she said in the most serious tone she could muster up. Fenella stood up from her seat, finished up her Cauldron Cake and slowly started making her way out of the Hall.
She stopped midway there and turned back to face Seamus. Her eyes turned into a violety-blue, "It was nice meeting you Seamus- and Dean -and Neville." and she went walking on.

((Yes ma'am.)) Seamus whistled as he made his way to the Potions classroom. He was in a great mood; he'd had a wonderful sleep last night, despite waking up somewhat early, and the breakfast had been a collection of some of his favorite foods. He great mood dissipated as he opened the classroom door, slipping in early, and read the words on the chalk board. He groaned. "We're actually brewing something t'day? S'only the firs' day back!" A man came out from the storerooms and tutted at him. "Ah, my boy, but the potion we are brewing requires an ingredient that only blooms one day a year --and today is that day! We must brew today, or we'll never get to make the potion!" Seamus stared at him blankly for a moment, before remembering that there was a new Potions professor. "Oh," he said disinterestedly, sitting down at a table and propping his feet on the desk, stretching back and yawning. The professor --Slughorn, his mind supplied-- frowned at him, but said nothing more, moving to sit at his own desk. Seamus grinned, and began whistling again as he waited for the other students to arrive.
