Gabriel stepped forward and gently moved to set Bolt down, looking around a moment. "That sounds like a good enough idea," he responded as he set to gathering what they'd need. "We can use the rocks anc left over branches to make a small fire pit, and since Cynder doesn't have fire moves yet we can either possibly make use of Ember, or one of our electric types, to start fires to cook and to keep us warm."
He'd really need help keeping warm, not that he'd want to tell them that so soon. Surely he could cope well enough.

"Spark has Fire Punch," Jake offered. "But yes, a fire pit will be most important for keeping pokemon out and us warm." Finally the camp was made. A large tent made of branches and moss, with an opening large enough to crawl though one at a time. It was about 6 feet tall, 12 feet long, and 5 feet wide at the base. It had a fire pit in front of the entrance to keep wild pokemon out, and Jake felt that it would be safe enough to sleep in.

Gabriel nodded slightly and stepped forward, looking at their new base of operations before he moved to sit down nearby, pulling out a few items to start setting things up. "If it rains we can collect water if we have a system set up," he murmured softly, then paused a moment and glanced up at the other two almost sheepishly. "Um, would it...also be alright if I slept the closest to the fire? I get extremely cold fairly easily..."
Good thing he was smart...if he wasn't, he'd be completely useless to Arashi and Jake...

"Sure," Jake said. Kneeling down to Spark and Ember's eye level he asked, "Do you think you can light a fire once we are inside?" Ember bared a toothy grin and set a twig on fire before quickly quenching the flames so they wouldn't spread. Jake smiled and turned to the others. "Guess what? Ember knows Ember!"

Gabriel offered a small smile before he moved to crawl beneath the shelter, sitting down to allow Bolt and Cynder to both nestle up to him in their own ways, Bolt taking his place upon his lap while Cynder huddled up on his shoulder. It seems like, so far, things are going rather well for them. This is good, very good. If it kept up like this then they could easily handle being out here as long as needed.

Jake stepped into the makeshift shelter, ducking slightly. The setting sun filtered in through the moss, bathing the whole inside with warm red light that seemed to make everything glow. He wondered if stronger Pokemon such as Ursarang could break the supports, but didn't share his worries with the others, not wanting to cause them extra stress. Settling down cross-legged on the floor, Jake sighed inwardly and smiled as Ember came up to him, pushing his arm to the side and nuzzling his fingertips in search for petting. EDIT (guys, I'm gonna be gone for almost a week, but I don't want to pause this roleplay, so you guys should roleplay my character for me, ok? just don't make any super major decisions like him catching a pokemon, unless it's a charmander, without me)

Arashi sighed in contentment, pleased overall by the way things were going. They had shelter, they had Pokemon allies, and they seemed to gel as a team. He could think of a number of the other teams whose names he'd heard called who would doubtless still be arguing - or in a ditch somewhere. It seemed that he'd gotten rather lucky, not that he'd admit as much. While it was true that he was having more fun working with these guys than he had on previous joint school-related projects, he didn't want to give anyone a swelled head over it. He had been wryly amused by Ember knowing her namesake, and had said as much, chuckling lightly. The Pokemon his partners had caught were both quite sweet, and with any luck at least one of them would know where to find things for forage. "How safe do you guys feel?" He asked, offhandedly, "Should we set up a watch, or just go to sleep once we've eaten?"

"I feel decently safe, but it's probably best to not to let our guards down too much since this forest can be unpredictable," he murmured softly as he stroked Bolt's back, smiling slightly at the sparks that the little thing seemed to generate whenever he moved. "Do Shinx usually spark this much?" he asked, bright green eyes flickering up to Arashi curiously. He didn't exactly get to interact with them all too much before this, so...he wasn't sure.

Arashi mulled over Gabriel's words, trying to figure out where the line between caution and paranoia lay. Ah, well, he still had time before he had to decide whether or not to offer to take a watch. "They do not, generally speaking, tend to spark quite so much." He replied, looking Bolt over. "It could simply be that he isn't fully in control of his electrical abilities at present, or he has more power to them than he yet knows how to regulate. It happens with Electric types from time to time, it isn't anything unhealthy, but I've never seen it happen to a Shinx before this."

Shinx learns Charge at level 9 so that could put him with Cynder if the starters are at level 10))
Gabriel nodded slightly. "He doesn't seem very bothered by it at least," he said gently, reassured. "I'm pretty surprised that he's warmed up to me this quickly," he added, tilting his head a little bit as he gently rubbed behind one of the Shinx's ears, causing him to mewl and stretch out, seeming to enjoy that bit of affection. Goodness this little Shinx knew how to be adorable. |

Jake rolled his eyes, laughing. "While you two nerds talk about important scientific phenomenons, I'm going out to find food." He said, still chuckling slightly. He walked away from the campsite and soon came to a berry bush. Ember seemed to know that the berries were safe, and started chowing down on them ravenously. She sure did have a big appetite. Jake filled his pouch with the berries until it could fit no more, then walked back over to the campsite, holding up the bag of berries. "I found our dinner."

"Perhaps he was lonely? Most young Shinx would be living with their families at this stage in their lives - I'm guessing that he's rather lost, poor little fellow, and you're his substitute Mamma." Arashi deadpanned, smirking a little. "It's very sweet." He smiled then, to assure Gabriel that he wasn't being mocked, only lightly teased. "It's geek, by the way, not nerd." He pointed out, when Jake returned with food. "Nerds are just boring - geeks are far more interesting. Oh, and thanks for the food, it looks delicious."

Gabriel laughed softly, grinning a little bit. "Substitute momma?" he responded, gently lifting the little feline Pokemon further into his arms. "Well, I can't say that I mind that idea too much," he responded, gently bringing his and the little Shinx's nose's together and unable to help the very unmanly giggle that escaped him when his nose was licked.
When Jake returned, Gabriel having elected to ignore his comment about nerds before he left, he nodded slightly. "Yes, thank you," he responded softly. They could totally do this. Everything was going exceptionally well that at this point he had no doubts that they would make it through. |

Jake laughed, "Geek it is. Now, do the very important geeks want food?" he asked, doling out the berries into four equal portions, then dividing one of those portions into fifths for the Pokemon. "Dig in."

Arashi couldn't help but snicker as well - it was just too adorable! Whatever doubts he might have had about Gabriel, there was no way they could stand up against this kind of cuteness barrage. "I think, if that's how you see it, that young Bolt's troubles will soon be merely memories. Congratulations, it's a boy."
Glad that Jake found his comment amusing rather than irritating, Arashi responded in the affirmative, accepting his portion with a grace that, while basic, was still more than Hada mustered. The little Natu had evidently never been acquainted with the concept of table manners - the details of which lack were best left to the imagination.

Gabriel laughed softly at Arashi's comment, grinning as he set Bolt down to allow him to eat, Gabriel himself taking a couple berries and popping them into his mouth to chew them rather slowly. "You know, this is actually really nice. I'm glad I got partnered with you two," he told them, grinning. This was probably the most at ease he's felt in a long, long time, and it felt very nice. |

"There are far more students I don't get on with or would doubt the abilities of than students I can tolerate in prolonged proximity or would think competent. Imagine my surprise to be partnered with, not a pair of argumentative or shallow individuals who would lead us into a bog, but a pair of thoughtful and interesting fellows who contribute, and contribute well without trying to run everything. Perhaps I was overly pessimistic, but I've had to work with some real jerks before. You two, I like."

Jake chuckled as well at the bond already forming between Gabriel and the shinx. Scooping a handful of berries up, he tossed them in his mouth, chewed them, and quickly swallowed the berries. Spark ate his portion with equal gusto, and was soon begging Jake for his. Ember ate slightly slower, but she soon ambled over and he couldn't help give the two some of his. They could get more later if need be.

Gabriel, once he was finished, ended up nestled in a small ball with Bolt in his arms and Cynder still on his shoulder, the two of them soon dozing off as Gabriel smiled. They were adorable, and he quite enjoyed having the little Shinx with him now already as well. Temorarily forgetting he was around others he basically gave the small feline a soft nuzzle, smiling wider at the little sparks that actually tickled his cheeks. "The feeling is very mutual. I like being teamed up with you. Most people would probably consider me a hindrance and end up leaving me behind somewhere since I have problems keeping up with other people most of the time."

Arashi absentmindedly passed Hada some berries as he watched Gabriel's display of affection with a mental chuckle and a relaxed posture. It was quite clear to him that Gabriel formed bonds easily, and apparently deeply as well, if he was reading him right. That, along with the fact that Gabe didn't seem to be making a big deal over Bolt's differences, cemented Arashi's view that he could trust him. Likewise, Jake's interactions with Spark and Ember were going some way to gaining his confidence. "It would be a shame to disregard you because of your physical fitness." He murmured, "You appear to have a perfectly agile mind - those that have treated you such must have been rather dull to miss that. Oh well, that's their loss. I, for one, am perfectly happy with a relaxed pace. What say you, Jake?"
