There was a huge throng of students haphazardly spread around the carpark. Most of the students were year nines, so moved out of the way of Bow Wielder and Holly. They also moved out of Jorrow's way, although that was more because of his glare than the fact he was a year older than them. There were several teachers standing by the school hall, lightly chatting and surveying the students.

Bow Wielder soon reached the front of the crowd, with help from Jorrow. He looked at all the teachers present and immediately he realized there was something strange about them. One of them was wearing a Russian military uniform and had a large amount of medals pinned on his chest. He was cleanly shaven with precisely cut white hair and a clean shave. Clearly, the man had once been a Russian military officer, which is not normally a profession one does before teaching. Another was a woman wearing a white skirt, jacket, glasses and shoes. She carried a clipboard and had her blonde hair tied back in a bun. It was all fairly normal, except Bow Wielder thought he recognized her from a news story involving a group supposedly performing illegal genetic mutation experiments on homeless people. The Next was a huge Pacific Islander wearing jeans, boots, a black shirt, finger-less gloves and a leather jacket. He had close shaven hair, wore sunglasses and Bow Wielder noticed a tiny gang-tattoo on his neck. The last was the terrifying man he had seen at the front of the school earlier, glaring at all the new students. "Holly, correct me if I am wrong, but do these senior staff seem a bit strange to you?" Bow Wielder asked quietly.
