Jethro's eyes blazed with his own anger when she snapped at him. He clamped his mouth shout and looked away from her face, so she wouldn't see it. He looked at the bite mark when she dropped her hands. It looked nasty, probably hurt like a mother too.rnrn

"Funny how you said you wouldn't let a snake kill me, yet here we are."rnrn

"Yeah, well suck it up Princess." He said through gritted teeth. "I didn't expect you to lose your temper and be stupid."rnrn

He regretted the words the moment they came out of his mouth. It wasn't so much that he was angry at her as he was with himself for letting her get to him. He could have blamed it on the alcohol that was stile in his system but then he knew that'd be a lie. He had to learn to keep his head on straight, and actually think things through. He turned his attention to the snake bite once more before sucking in a breath trying to calm himself. He was scared, and that just happened to manifest in anger. He wasn't sure if he could survive here, withouth her, in a logically speaking way of course. He wasn't going to admit any emotional attachment.rnrn

He watched her struggled to stand up imediatly went to her side. "Don't hit me." He said trying to keep himself calm. He bent down and easily scooped the younger girl up, thanking god she was light. "Alright kiddo, lets get you saome cold water. Should I just throw you into the lake?" His morbid humor creeping in, though it was probably the most inappropriate time.rnrn

Jethro concentrated on the ground under his feet, it would be horrible if he had tripped and sent them both falling. He felt his heartbeat hammering inside his chest, from the worry and exertion, though the fact that she now rested her head against his chest may have played a part too. She started rattling off plant names, though he only managed to catch the few of the names. When they reached the water, he placed her down and she unsteadily she tried to walk but fell inside.rnrn

Jethro was going to yell at her in that moment for doing something stupid like that. Though he sucked in a breath, it was shallow water, she was fine. She started talking again and Jethro went to the waters edge and kneeled down.rnrn

"Well, forest had to claim us sooner or later. You'll be okay," rnrn

Jethro wanted to hit her. It wouldn't help her, but it would sure help him release his pent up anger. "Hey, don't talk like that. Just tell me what you want me to get. What do you want? Leeches? A rock? Just anything." He looked at her, his voice wavering as he tried to keep his voice leveled. He reached out and touched her shoulder lightly. "Iris, it'll be fine. You're such a smart-ass the stuff you need is rattle around in your brain somewhere."rnrn

Once again, she opened her mouth and all Jethro wanted to do was punch her so hard. Now if she was a guy, he probably would, but she wasn't it was Iris. The only girl that could piss him off to the point where he wanted to hit her and jump her bones. He rubbed his temples to calm himself. "Alright, red berries got it." He stood up and prepared to leave. "Kid youd better not die or I'll kill you myself." He said before running off into the brush. rnrn

He actually found red berries relatively easily and he grinned, there was no way it was going to be that easy he though as he cut a branch. That was when he noticed another berry bush, that looked the same as this one, yet different. "The hell?" He though as he moved towards this bush. He sighed and cut a branch of that too, he was going to leave when he noticed once again. A string of curses left his mouth and he cut a branch from that one too. "Unbelievable." He muttered, he looked back the way he came. He looked at the three branches in his hand and sighed, one of these had to be right. Or he might just punch Iris.rnrn

When he came back he was running he had a slow time slowing himself down or he would have plowed right into Iris. "Look which one of these is you glucacola or whatever its called?" He asked pretty much shoving the branches of berries and leaves into her face.rn

Jethro watched as she quickly shoved the leaves in her mouth causing him to raise an eyebrow, it was kinda gross but as long as she was going to be okay.rnrn

"I'll try not to leave just yet, Detective. I know how much you'll miss my mouth," rnrn

A smile tugged the side of Jethro lips and a grin spead across his face. "You bet kiddo." He said punching her lightly in her good arm. He scratched at the stuble on his chin as he though about what she said. She couldn't have meant the night before, she already seemed to dismiss that so there was nothing there of course. He was to preocupied with his thought to even noticed her face turn a light pink, though he would have just assumed that was from the bite. He gazed back up at her for a moment, his eyes trailing down to the puncture wound. "So is that it?" he asked reached out and placing his fingers lightly on the arm trying to peer at the wound. "You not gonna go into shock or something? Eating some dirty leaves is just gonna make everything good?"rn

"Aww you're more than that." Jethro said smiling slightly. Though he paused, she was something else but he wasn't sure what exactly. He liked her yes, but was it more than a friend thing? He couldn't say he didn't like the kiss but he was drunk, he probably would have like a slap in the face. He grinned back at him, dimples evident in his cheeks. "Your a friend too. You're annoy as hell sometimes but its all fun."rnrn

He stood back up and dusted off his pants. He looked back down at her a sudden though spreading into his mind. He ran his tongue along his lips and looked at her. "You know I could always carry you back to came, don't pretend you didn't like it." He grinned.

Jethro tried not to say anything as he watched her unsteadily try to walk. She pitched forward and Jethro was going to help her up but she seemed insistant on doing it herself. He nodded and followed after ready to grab her incase she fell again.rnrn

"It warms my heart to know that you saved me just for your own hide,"rnrn

He riased a dark eyebrow. "Come again Cupcake?" He said leaning his ear in. "Not sure if I heard you right." He hurried infront of her and blocked her way. "What's that suppossed to mean?" He thought they had a good thing going on, for the most part. He'd just saved her life, and now she was trying to eat him.

Jethro shook his head but let her pass him. He followed after her, chewing on his lip pulling off some skin with his teeth as he thought about what she said. That wasn't true, he thought. He could have survived without her, he would have found the water eventually, and he had found the mangos, not to mention he probably would have caught some fish or something, he had seen them darting around under the surface. He followed her in silence, not even noticing when the they made it back onto the beach. She said something and snapped him back into the present. He raised an eyebrow and didn't saw anything as he watched her flop down onto the ground of the cave.rnrn

"Hey Jeth, why exacty were you so pissed when I got bit? That angry about my slip-up?"rnrn

Jethro shrugged as he sat himself down on the ground, a little ways from her. Why had he gotten so mad? He looked pver at her and shrugged again. "I dunno, probably left over anger from when you yelled at me before." He said looking down his sweater, nervously playing with the grey material. He thought she was gonna die, and he was mad for shelfish reasons, he didn't want her to leave him. Not that he was going to admit that anytime soon. "Kid, you had me worried, thought I was gonna lost you to some stupid scalely worm."rn

Jethro raised an eyebrow when he heard the words slikp from her lips. He looked up and saw her eyelids flutter open and she quickly tried to cover it up. He wasn't buying it, he was gonna have some fun.rnrn

"Not like what Iris?" He asked giving her a look. He wondered if it would some how lead back to the kiss, considering it seemed to be the only thing on his mind, though if she wasn't going to mention it, he might just bring it up to get it out of his own mind.rnrn

Jethro watched her silence,noticing the sun was setting outside of the cave, leaving them in darkness. He looked out of the case as he watched the remainder of the sun dip into the horizion. He looked back over at Iris studying her. She seemed better, if not tired. He stared at her in the silence then finally cracked at smile at her question. He shifted and leaned closer to her. "I might just Cupcake." He grinned playfully. "Now Iris Rosen, that is your real name right?" He mocked seriousness raising an eyebrow. rnrn

"You care to tell me what you meant about that earlier statement? I can either be the good cop or the bad cop its all up to you." He looked into her eyes, trying to keep laughter from slipping into his tone. He actually wondered if she would answer of just laugh it off and tell him to drop it. Though, if she did say what he so hoped she would, he wasn't exactly sure what his reaction would be.rn
