"Well let's start with you college girl." Iris nodded and leaned back on her elbows again. She tapped her fingers into the sand and gathered her thoughts. Her mossy green eyes clouded for a moment as she searched through her memories, and then she focused on Jethro again.

"Irissa Faith Rosen is my full name and you already know I'm twenty-one. I grew up in a pretty normal household, I guess. I was closer to my dad than I was to my mom. You know I learned astronomy, how to fend for myself in the outdoors after the many trips my dad took me on." She paused to yawn softly before continuing.

"My father was diagnosed with a cancer in his brain when I was fifteen. He died two years later and I supported my mom for the longest time. I don't really miss him, I guess. We struggled the first few months, but got through it. I miss him sometimes, but I'm just glad for the time we had together." She blinked. She really hadn't meant to talk so much.

"Uh, I've never found a stable job. Astromoners and young kids who know their plants don't exactly do anything for society." She chuckled. "My favorite color is green, I'm amazing at Scrabble, and I love the sound of rain."

"Your life story, detective? Sorry for the barrage of words. Didn't mean to say that much." She winced slightly.

Jethro listened intently, nodding at a few parts, muttering an I'm sorry when she mentioned her father. "Your life story, detective? Sorry for the barrage of words. Didn't mean to say that much."

"It's alright." He said looking at her. He looked back down at the sand and played with it for a while before opening his mouth to speak.

"Jethro Leroy Daniel Regan. Yes, I have too middle names." He grinned looking back up at her. "I am twenty-five. My parents divorced when I was about five. My father was a big shot criminal lawyer. Like the kind that work for mob bosses, hide evidence to win a case." His voice gorwing bitter as he talked about the man he looked so much alike. He stared back down at the sand running it through his fingers.

"I lived with my mother, her name was Lilah." His voice softenend slightly. "I spent weekeneds with my father, well more like my father's nannies. He wasn't really there during my childhood. Normally he woke me up in the morning, gave me a pat before breakfast before heading out."

"So it was really just me and my mom, seeing as I stopped going to my fathers when I turned thirteen. Now looking back, I feel really bad for giving her such a hard time. She worked hard, and she got in trouble when she had to leave work to come pick up her son from school after he gave another kid a broken nose."

"My mother also couldn't cook for sh-t." he said chuckling at the memory. "So I did most of the cook, my nannies had taught be how." He looked back up and sat up, pulling his bourbon from his jacket. "I was sent off to the army by my mother after I-" he cut himself off and shot a look down to his wrist before looking up. "I was chosen to head off overseas when I got the news my mother was shot." his eyes went back to the sand. "When I got back I saw I was replaced. I had no idea why she decided to show up. It's not as if I had invited her, but then again I didn't plan the funeral. So as soon as my mother was put in the ground I left, and went back to Iraq. And after a series of events I became and NYPD detective." He finished sipping from his flask.

He realized he had given away more than he had planned. So he had might as well finish. He put his hand into his pocket and pulled out the picture of the woman and the smiling twins, who looked exactly like him. "Those are my kids." he said handing her the picture. "My ex-girlfriend Analiese, and thats Danny and Selina."

He chuckled and shook his head. "God, I talked more than you." He put his flask back into his pocket and falling onto his back, hands behind his head. "Well Cupcake, there's my life story. Which I really hadn't planned on telling, but I'll say about anything after a drink."

Iris listened intently to what Jethro had to say; a few times she dozed off and settled herself to listening to his voice. She stayed quiet and stilled the fingers that were doodling spirals in the sand when she spoke of his family life and Iraq. She smelled the alcohol coming from him and didn't look up, but she wasn't going to pester him about it either.

Jethro stared off at the sky, and listneing to the ocean feeling relaxed. He smiled slightly when she said they were running out of alcohol. It was true at the rate he was drinking, the bottle would be empty before sunset. He enjoyed the silence and closed his eyes, when he heard Iris speak again.

"We've got traps set up, a fresh water source a few ways away, and some shelter. I think we make a pretty good team, Jethro."

He let out a soft chuckle and turned and looked up at her. "You know Irissa Rosen, I think we do." He smiled dimples showing, before looking back up at the sky.

Sitting here by the fire was nice, and they did have some sort of moment a while ago, although he wasn't too sure what it was. He let out a breath, ready to start talking again. "What room do you want? Up or down?"

Iris tried to squish the feeling in her stomach that emerged when Jethro pronounced her full name and gave her a smile. She grinned back at him, silently chiding herself for being so foolish. This is what got her in trouble with her other boys before. She shook her head to scatter the thoughts and huffed when her hair flew into her eyes again.

Jethro rolled his eyes, he honestly didn't even think of that. He just assumed she wanted it because it was warmer. "We could switch every now and then if you want,"

"Nah, it's fine." He said playing with the sand. "I'll just make a small fire in there and I should be all good." he sat back up and looked at the sky. They had just given eachother their life stories now he had no idea what to do. God how he wished there was a resort here, the island was nice enough.

"Hey what time is it?" He asked turning back to look at the girl. It was weird how things went with them. One mintute they were having a conversation the next they didn't know what do to. And it had only been a or two. He wasn't sure how long he could stand it.

"Alright," she answered and drew some more spirals in the ground. Her brows dipped down in concentration as she tried to remember the plants she'd seen when she had gone out into the forest. Iris grimaced when she pulled up a few poisonous plants from memory; nothing entirely useful came to mind.

Jethro shook his head when she said she'd teach him how to tell the time. He never told her he had found a watch, he could have just checked but he just like hearing her voice. He tried not to make a face at that thought, and he blinked and looked over at the ocean. He shouldn't be thinking like that, not here.

"I tickle the bottom of your feet, at my best I am warm and kind, and I am always found in nature. What color am I?"

He shot her a look, wondering what she was going on about and nodded when said it was a game. He was never all that good at riddles,so he shrugged. "I have no idea. Tell me." He turning his body to face her, that was the most random thing ever but it was better than sitting and feeling awkward.

Iris chuckled softly when he turned to face her again. "I'm Iris's favorite color." she hinted and smiled. "Green like the grass that tickles your feet, like the leaves of trees that are warm and welcoming in the summer, and always found in nature. I have to say, detective, that wasn't very impressive on your part."

Jethro let out a slight laugh and shook his head. "Nah riddles aren't my thing." He said going back to playing with the sand. "I prefer visual puzzles that don't require thinking. Most of the wordy stuff I left to Jackie."

He realized that might have made him sound like a dumb detective but that was true. His partner dealt with any words or people. And he just connected the clues.

"Can we do something else?"

Iris tilted her head back and laughed. "You're quite the detective," she said, a mischevious glimmer in her eyes. When he mentioned visual puzzles, she grabbed a stick and wiped the spot of sand clean where she'd doodled some stars. She tapped her fingers against her chin for a moment before brushing the tip of the stick in the sand.

Jethro nodded when he saw her right the words and explain. "Yeah, I know those, I used to do them with..."He trailed but then rewrote what Iris wrote. Although on the side he seperated the word love. "Just like this would be head over heels in love."

He looked up and smiled. "Hit my up college girl, show me what you got."

Jethro watched as wrote, the first one he knew. "Missing you." he said out loud. He wasn't too sure about the second one but he knew the third. "Try to understand." He said pointing at the third.

"I'm really not to sure about the second one." He said. This game was already begining to bore him, but if she wanted to play he was all up for it.

"Inbetween jobs," she said for the missing one.She could tell he wasn't really into the game anymore, but she wasn't sure what else they could do. She sat up sharply when she saw the orange coloring of the water, a grin on her face as she saw the sun dip down over the horizon.

Jethro nodded when she told him the answer, he stared at the words for a moment before looking up. She had perked up and was looked behind him. He turned and the sky was painted varurious colours of pink of orange. He let out a soft breath, it was beautiful. If there was a resort here, he would have come straight here instead of the damned cruise.

"This island really isn't that bad, actually. It's kinda beautiful."

He nodded in agreement and turned to smile. She was propped up on her elbows and she gave him a wink when she told him the time. He shook his head slightly, smiling. "I have a watch you know." He smiled looking back up at her.

Iris had settled her gaze back over the ocean which was now painted a vibrant orange as the sun continued to sink lower. Salmon pink tinged the clouds just above the horizon and she sighed. Then, hearing Jethro's statement, turned and cocked her head slightly to look at him.

"You know telling time from the sun is cooler," she said childishly, but that note of amusement and teasing was still in her voice. She wrapped her arms around her legs again and watched the sun continue to sink lower.

"We can explore a bit more tomorrow, too." she said through a yawn.

Jethro leaned on his side, propped up on one elbow as he watched the sun sink into the water. Once again he heard her voice pop up behind him.

"We can explore a bit more tomorrow, too."

He smiled when he heard her yawn after that. He turned and smiled. "Is someone feeling a little sleepy?" he siad using the voice people would use to harasse a child.
