He said, although he laughed a little at the end. His jacket was far too big for her, and he found himself smiling at how cute she looked in it.
Wait a second... Cute? Something was definitely wrong with him. If the end of the project didn't come soon, he really would end up falling for her, and that wouldn't be good. No matter what, he could never fall for anyone, it would only cause mutual hurt.
And if there was hurt involved, that meant it especially couldn't be Paradise.
For some reason, even that thought didn't tell him the obvious- that he'd already fallen for her.

I laughed a little when he did, realizing I had been caught with my 'not cold' lie, before.
"Actually, I think I am."
I said with another smile. When I was with him, I couldn't stop a smile coming on my face. I didn't know if that was a good or bad thing. Good, because it showed how happy he made me.
Bad, because in the end, that happiness would leave. When I let reality hit and I realize that he truly doesn't feel the same way.
Even if we have those random connections that I held dear.

When we came to Dan's house, I smiled at the memory of first coming here. He ended up teaching me a drum beat after going to the lake. I smiled at the thought before waiting for Dan to open the door, not wanting to get out of this Dan - scented jacket I wore.

Dan wasn't happy that she was still cold, but the only thing he could think that would warm her up was if he wrapped his arms around her, and that would mean a lot of awkwardness and probably her being uncomfortable, so he decided against it. When they reached his home, Dan pushed open the door and walked inside, dripping wet. He held it open for Paradise to go through, wondering how he could make her warmer.
''D'you want something to drink? It might warm you up. I have tea, coffee, and hot chocolate, so which would you prefer?'' He smiled warmly, thinking he'd found a way to make her warmer. [[Asdfdg fail. x3]]

After Dan offered me a drink, only three words could come to mind.
Dan. Was. Adorable. I told him I was warm, and yet he still wanted to make sure that I was... Warm. I smiled, this time not feeling the ground beneath my feet as I walked inside.
"Hot chocolate sounds great."
I said, before unzipping his jacket and laying it on my arm as I followed him inside. It was weird to think his parents weren't home at this time. Wasn't this the hour that parents usually came home from work?
I felt sorry for Dan. What if both of his parents were workaholics? He probably got lonely...
I shook those thoughts from my mind, not wanting to feel sympathy for him if I wasn't supposed to feel this way about him in the first place.

Dan grinned, leading her into the living room and turning on the TV on some random news channel, before nodding to the couch. ''Alright, sit down a minute and I'll go make you some.'' He smiled again, before walking into the kitchen and boiling the kettle.
He opened the cupboard and looked for a mug, but the only one he could find that wasn't chipped or had teeth marks in it was one with a dragon on it. Ironic, really.
After a few minutes, the water had boiled, and he heaped some spoonfuls of chocolate powder and a spoonful of sugar into the mug, before pouring the water in and stirring it around. Adding some milk, he dropped a few mini-marshmallows he'd found in the cupboard into it, and headed into the living room again.
He held the mug out to her, smiling and hoping it wasn't too sweet for her. ''Sorry if I put too much sugar or chocolate in or anything.''
Well now. I should... Probably put something intelligent here. At some point. Eventually.

I took his second offer of sitting on the couch, and watched the news channel. Nothing really bad happened in this community, like freaky killers, but the news was showing a robbery. I guess that was pretty bad compared to other things.
I smiled at Dan as he came back in with my hot chocolate.
"Thanks."
I said before taking it from his hands. I smiled and added,
"You sure like dragons."
I remembered how his drum sticks had dragons on them also.

Dan laughed, but couldn't help thinking to himself how if she ever found out why, she'd probably beat him with all his dragon stuff.
''No problem. And, yeah... I just think they're cool, y'know?'' He sat down on the couch next to her, leaning forward and watching the TV. Something about a robbery on the other side of town. He was about to turn it over, when something else came on.
''... A mysterious creature, reported to have been seen flying around the skies at night over the weekend... Reportedly easily as big as a horse... Eye-witness accounts have claimed all kinds of things, from thunder-birds... Dragons to aliens...''
Dan stopped dead in his tracks, suddenly not able to turn it over anymore. Surely that hadn't been when he'd been flying? The time zone fitted, and it had been described as a dragon by someone...
No. It was just a coincidence, nothing more.

My eyes widened in interest as I listened closely to the news. Aliens? Thunder - birds?
Dragons? What did this century actually believe in, these days? I was more shocked on Dan's reaction to the news.
"You alright, Dan? It's probably just something to get people freaked out, they're making it up."
I shrugged, trying to act casual. But his reaction still stayed in my head, as my suspicions about him returned.

Dan laughed, immediately turning it over to some nature channel he had memorised as soon as he shook himself awake. Even though he laughed, it wasn't his usual laugh.
''Yeah, 'course I know that. I mean, I like dragons and all, but everyone knows they're not real, right? Just something some cool Greek guy made up. I was just thinking how silly it was, is all.''
He gave another laugh again, this one even less like his normal, care-free laughter, and pointed at the TV screen in an attempt to change he topic.
''Y'see that? It's a harpy eagle, biggest bird of prey in the Americas.'' A few moments after he said it, the narrator on the screen said almost the exact same words as well.

His odd laughter told me different then what he was saying, but I chose not to think twice about it. Maybe my suspicions about him were just me being paranoid.
And, my mind was completely off of it when he started talking about birds.
"How do you know all about birds?"
I said with my eyes wide again in shock.
"I don't know that much about... Anything."
I said with a laugh as I took another sip of the hot chocolate - which wasn't too sweet at all.

''Well, in fairness, birds and reptiles are about the only things I know anything at all about, so I guess that's why I know so much about them.'' He paused, glancing up and realizing that the programme had gone onto the adverts.
''Besides, have you ever looked up birds? They're descended from dinosaurs. I mean, how much cooler can you get?'' He laughed, but this time it was a real laugh, not one intended to cover something up.

Honestly, I didn't care much for animals. And I didn't have that same excited look in my eyes at the way he talked about it. All I could think about was the passion in those eyes; which made me wish I had something in common with him. Maybe that was why he didn't like me. Because there was nothing that we shared together.
Other then music. "Oh! Lets go do the drum thing before I have to leave."
Stupid homework making me go home early. Maybe I could just skip it... No. I couldn't. It would ruin my 4.0.
I got up and took a last sip of the hot chocolate before setting it down on the table and looking back at Dan to wait for him.

''Good idea.'' Dan replied, laughing and walking over to the ladder again. When he started up it, he was surprised by how cold it was up there, until he realized that he'd forgotten to turn the heating for the attic on.
Once up he sat down and stuck his head through the gap in the ceiling, hanging out up to his shoulders and looking over at Paradise.
''Hey, you might want to wear that jacket again. I forgot to put the heating on for up here, and it's pretty cold.''
With that, he stood up again and walked over to his drum kit, taking out both pairs of drumsticks and whirling them round on his fingers while he waited for Paradise to come up.

Before going up the ladder, I slipped the over-sized damp jacket around my shoulders, and put my arms through the sleeves. Even though it was still a little wet from the rain, it still kept me warm.
I climbed up the ladder, being careful since my hands couldn't come out of the sleeves, and came over to Dan by the drum set. "How do you live with sleeping up here, when it gets so cold?"
I asked as I sat on the edge of his bed to wait until he was ready.

Dan twisted some metal thing that was on he neck of the cymbals, hitting it gently every time he did so until he was satisfied with the results.
''Dunno. Normally it isn't this cold, I just forgot to turn on the heating.'' He laughed, motioning for her to come over and sit on the stool.
He began thinking up another good beginner's beat, zoning out a little. [[Yes. Yes, Ty gave your charrie another reason to be all stalker-ish~

He stepped on it to show her, the sound reverberating through the wood of the attic.
